Latinas From The Block To The Boardroom

Latinas From The Block To The Boardroom

LatinasB2B Collaboration podcast with CrossPods tech_creepy Lydia Shompole on data privacy and DNA tracking and what that means for people of color. Can you trust TikTok Google and Apple? Theres so much to unpack in this episode but the reality is companies want our data to build new products and we cant even get hired in tech with hiring numbers less than 3! Weve started a movement to be seen now we need to be on the tech platforms to help our communities not profile and police them through technology especially during COVID-19 tracking. Ask questions its your right to know the truth about where your data is going.

Latinas from the Block to the Boardroom is a podcast based on the idea that wisdom comes from everywhere. The podcast is intentionally conversational as its goal is to encourage the sharing of this wisdom through intergenerational community conversations.

Thank you LatinasB2B for a great discussion.

Cameras United and American Airlines

Cameras United and American Airlines

The note says Cameras - United and American – Thats just creepy. It only took a few moments for this note to remind me exactly what I was thinking about at that time. Now back in the first few months of 2019 a bunch of articles came out about these two airlines and possibly a few others including Singapore Airlines. Apparently one passenger noticed that on the seatback entertainment system there was a small camera looking back at them. In an article on Market Watch they explained that a passenger on a Singapore flight posted a photo of the seat-back display last week and the tweet was shared several hundred times and drew media notice.

Public Wifi Your Data Is My Data Too

Public Wifi Your Data Is My Data Too

This week we are going to do a deep dive into the darker side of public wifi how your data can be accessed and how you can protect yourself while navigating the ins and outs of public hotspots. The internet has been around since the 1960s. Originally the United States government commissioned for a system to be built that would connect computers in a network that would essentially create a communication system that could get information from one to the other quickly and without fault. Through the 1980s a lot of private funding as well as some public funding was used to financially support research into making this network of computers better and faster mainly for military use but by the 90s the idea to make this network available to more people begin to spread like wild fire. Companies all over the world began investing in making this network more commercially available. Most of us cant picture a world where we cant unlock our phone and google that ridiculous question that’s been popping in and out of our mind all day and then getting an answer immediately.
