Stewardship was established from the beginning. Adam and Eve were told to work the land - steward God’s creation. To utilize what God has provided and allow it to grow.

The word of God was given to us with the expectation that we will be stewards of it and allow growth to happen in us but also through us.

The Bible, the word of God, is one of the most influential books of human history. It explains and answers the questions, why do we exist? How are we to live? What is the purpose of our lives?

When some people think of prepping, what comes to mind is images of strange people wearing tinfoil hats huddled in a shelter while they wait for the mothership to return.

Most today hear one definition for prepping and live their life on one level of prepping.

Christian culture today tends to gravitate towards teachings about God’s blessing and to a degree that’s fine- God’s blessing is a very real thing. We have to be careful that we don’t shun the prosperity Gospel so much so that it robs us of the reality that God does bless us.

The problem is we often talk about God’s blessing and how it ties to generosity and that’s a very real Biblical principle - but we often fail to recognize that in order to continue to experience God’s blessing – God’s continued blessing requires faithful stewardship.

As a culture we are no longer critically thinking through issues, we are “either or” driven. Our politics is horizontal thinking- Leftwing or the rightwing. Are you pro-this or anti-that?

The topic of the border is one of the extreme examples of “either, or” thinking. It’s assumed that if you believe in a wall or border that you are anti-immigration. If you are pro-immigration it’s assumed that you are anti-wall.

Easter, the death and resurrection of Jesus is the pinnacle moment of our Faith, it is the focal point of the Gospels.

Each one of the men who wrote the Gospels had their lives impacted and changed by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus in such a profound way that they were not only motivated through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to write the Gospels, but they were also motivated through their salvation experience and witness that the Son of God really did live, die and was raised to life.

We have been teaching about God’s vision for our lives, Vision is the bridge between where you are and where God wants you to be. God has plans for your life. Sometimes when we say we are “led by the Holy Spirit” we fall under the unbiblical practice of “winging it” and if things don’t go well we blame the Holy Spirit.

Walking by faith does not mean, winging it and throwing ourselves into things, walking by faith means that we take the next step that the Lord leads us to, acknowledging that He has a plan.

The word for Harvest Church in 2024 is: Recalibrate. What is recalibration? It means that we reset, adjust, change and improve who we are and what do. Everything should be recalibrated.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been discussing God’s vision for our church with the understanding that – we are the church and God’s vision for our individual lives always connects to God’s vision for our corporate lives as the body of Christ.

His vision calls us to come together in unity, it’s under God’s Vision that we experience unity as we work towards common eternal goals.

Definition: “Human trafficking is the trade of humans for the purpose of forced labor, sexual slavery, or commercial sexual exploitation.”

Jesus performs this miracle and we think that it’s wildly known, but wildly misunderstood or we truly don’t see the magnitude of this miracle and what Jesus was communicating to us when the miracle was performed. We are talking about the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine.

The name Harvest Church is Biblical and recognizes a Biblical mission.

Harvest Church is a shorter name so that it is easily recognized and remembered. How often do we shorten church names no matter how many words are included? 

The name compliments a theme of ministry here at the church: rooted youth ministry, bloom women’s ministry, harvest kids, etc.

There are signs around us that Love has grown cold in our culture. Love has grown cold when mainstream society has so rejected the thought of standing up for the most innocent among us that they will come against movies that seek to raise awareness about child trafficking. If you kill a sea turtle egg you can face prison time but if you end the life of a child you are celebrated.

Little by little as we allow these feelings to settle in our hearts- we as the church and as Christ followers – let our love grow cold. Because after all, it’s hard to love when we are filled with hate.

One statistical analysis of our culture will validate this answer, the statistics of addiction are almost hard to comprehend, the family unit in our country has never been so assaulted, the moral confusion of right and wrong and the list goes on.

We are living in a time when there is a lot of fear about where we are as a culture and where we are heading to, in the midst of this we are in a season where we are entertained by Fear itself.

Here we are in the month of October, the weather starts to bring us cooler mornings and evenings, the leaves on trees start to change over to beautiful colors, hunting seasons starts to launch, but then there is also this odd occurrence during Halloween where we as a culture become enamored with the paranormal, commercials of demonic movies start popping up, people’s homes take on a whole new look.

We are a culture where the Paranormal has worked its way into our everyday lives through eastern mysticism and mother earth ideology and practices.

Evil in our world, isn’t hiding anymore. It’s mainstream, it’s in our news cycles 24/7, it’s being taught to our children in schools, it’s evil when someone runs for a political offices and builds their campaign off of supporting that which the Bible calls sin. It’s even more evil when a population supports this.

We as a culture have embraced so many different forms of evil in the past four years that we are almost unrecognizable to who we were as a nation just 10 years ago.

Outreach is one of two primary principles taught to us in Matthew 28:19.

Making disciples also referred to as reaching the lost, the methods of making disciples are nearly endless. Bringing people to know and serve Jesus can be done through acts of service, providing a drink of water, helping someone get out of a broken lifestyle, “helping the least of these,” hospitality, and so on.

This month we are in a sermon series that is focusing on American History… 

We have to come to understand that our laws should not be built off of what feels right, our laws are not based off of popular votes- our laws are given to us by God. 

This is why we hear terms such as “inalienable rights” because these rights that we have as American’s are not given to us by government, they are given to us by God and should be protected by the law.

Many of the rights that we have individually today are protected by the foundation of God’s moral law- the ten commandments.

Last week we kicked off our series titled “finding our way back.” Meaning, as a nation how do we find our way back to the principles that gave us such a strong foundation. What is the recipe for liberty? 

We introduced this monument located in Plymouth Massecuites called “the monument of our forefathers” which represents the principles that our nation was founded on that would always remind us how to get back if we ever lost our way.

Once we know Jesus we can now understand right from wrong and work towards “morality.”
