This is a Crystal Conversation focused on how to personalize your efforts and streamline your energy to experience energy for more "highway" style miles than "city mpg." S3.E5 - You, Me and the Discomfort of Asking For Help
Are you the type who'll struggle until you collapse before asking for help or the one that asks for help but interrupts to show someone how YOU would do it so they can help you correctly? No matter the type, we all struggle with asking for help in some way or we are so dependent on others that we lose our own sense of self efficacy (but we will save that for another episode). For this episode, I share the evolution of my humility and most recent battle with my pride in allowing others to help - even when it is clearly mutually beneficial. S3.E4 - You, Me, and Finding Hope In The Hard Stuff
As a young woman, I don't think I would have ever cheered for the hard times I was enduring nor the ones I remembered enduring as a child. Rejoicing in our suffering is not really a natural reaction and more likely one that will make people wonder what really is wrong with us. I empathize that suffering is truly a place of discomfort and outright unenjoyable, yet equally valuable when given the chance to be examined through a much wider lens. Take this time to consider the strengths being gained, the depth being established, and the perspective being eluded to in your own hard stuff. Looking to book a virtual or in person speaker? This episode covers a few personal stories about two people who were exploring ways to make a difference in their day, the cliche catch all concept of "see a need, fill a need," and delivers an exercise for you to begin mapping out realistic ways to own the purpose of your life and ways you can make a difference (possibly without breaking a sweat). S3.E2 - Where Do I Begin?!
When a therapist, coach, or friend asks.... "So how is it going?" or "What brings you here today?" Wow! What a loaded question, right? Most often we feel a bit overwhelmed, caught off guard, and sputter out some sort of emotionally flooded, "Where do I begin?!" This is a common response and completely normal. Why else would you be seeking support if you hadn't reached a point you couldn't handle the pile of things on your own? Many of us don't seek support until we reach our breaking point, and by that time it takes a minute to sort through the initial flood in order to find the true triggers that are keeping us in bondage from clarity and growth. I'd like to offer a few thoughts on where to begin if this may be your response to such a question of "what brings you here today?"
