DF ep 011 - They Said, "We Don't Accept Your Kind"
"Don't be the victim of rejection. Become the exception." #DailyFortune
Walked into the restaurant wearing a suit
- filled out application checking "the box"
- smiled, handed her my app, and waited
- she returned with frustration and said "We don't accept your kind."
In the face of the really difficult no's, remember this:
Rejection is not the end
Don't be the victim
Be the 1 in 5 (who make it out)
The good life doesn't come without its trials and challenges.
Every door will not open the first time you push on it.
You will not be accepted by everyone.
Most people won't see your light.
But, when they do.
It will be because you faced your trials and won.
You challenged your challenges and succeeded.
You kept pushing and knocking on doors until you got your foot in.
You loved and accepted yourself with all of your uniqueness.
You connected with a talented tenth and leaned on that source of wisdom and truth that gave you your gifts.
And, you became the exception!

Practice telling your stories every chance you get...
Your voice is the one of the most powerful tools in the world. How you wield it determines your future? If you know you're supposed to be helping people, it's time you learned how to tell stories to motivate people to start taking the actions they need to get off of their islands.
Your Challenge
Tell someone a story instead of telling them the facts and details. Watch how they react.

DF ep 010 - You Might Be Underearning If...
Tweet this:
"Underearning is misallocation." #DailyFortune
There are 3 ways to misallocate your time, energy, and money: waste it, give it away, or over spend it.
Your underearning mix is specific to you. You may have some one or two of the trio in check. However, you grossly underperform in the third area. Yep. That's underearning.
2013 survey - 40% unhappy with their work; 71% thinking about or actively looking for new job
2014 survey - 39 hours a week average at work; 40% over 50 hours; 74% poor sleep
2017 survey - 61% have less than $500 in bank account for an emergency
Your actions are largely influenced by your drivers aptly named your BMV
- Beliefs
- Motives
- Values
You filter your decisions through these three cognitions which were influenced by your social environment.
REAL growth shapes your BMV. What are you Reading, Experiencing, Associating with, and Listening to?
Stop misallocating your resources. It's hard to start and easy to maintain when you create the right habits. Underearning can be arrested when you stop misallocating.
Your challenge:
Pause and think. Is this the best use of my time, energy, and money?

Tweet this:
"Every failure makes you more S.E.X.Y.!" #DailyFortune
"The easiest way to make money is - create something of such value that everybody wants and go out and give and create value. The money comes automatically." - Jordan Belfort
Jordan Belfort created the straight line selling system on the spot in front of his sales team.
They were not closing any deals while he and his partner were.
"Can we go back to penny stocks."
"How do you handle the objections?"
"Let's write all one thousand objections and I'll tell you how to handle them."
By the end of the brain storming session there were less than 20 objections on the board and most of them fit into three categories. The idea hit him that all sales conversations are the same. It's one clear path from beginning to end. He drew a straight line on the board and instructed the team on how to keep their prospects as close to the line as possible.
S.E.X. sells when it's You:
- S: sharp and smart
- E. enthusiastic and energetic
- X: experience and expertise
- Y: you and yourself
Learn from every sales conversation. Each time you do this, you increase your command presence.
- What worked/wen well?
- What could you improve?
- Anything notable happen?
- What action do you take next time?
Like making a great dish - a SEXY dish - every mistake gets you closer to SEXY.
Your challenge:
Add value. Make an offer. Journal your conversation.
DF ep 005 - When a Golf Addiction Is a Good Thing
Tweetable
"Uncontrolled habits are costly." #DailyFortune
Every time my father comes home from golfing he talks about his best shot and the one shot he messed up.
- An article in the Wall Street Journal from 2007 tells about celebrities replacing drug addiction with golf
- Are they the same? IDK but I see similarities...
- Also, mentions research on how anticipating hitting a good shot and remembering the good shot lead to golf addiction.
- Use Brian Tracy's best shot concept (with an additional idea).
For bad habits, play the whole tape.
For good habits, remember the good shots.
Journal your day to build self awareness.
Remember your best shot. But, also remember what you reward creates a habit. So, know what habit you're building because "uncontrolled habits are costly."
Your challenge:
Each day this week, invest 7 minutes into reviewing your day using the WINA philosophy.
DF ep 006 - 5 Steps to Take Back Control of Your Life Thru Forgiveness
Tweetable
"Taking full responsibility for your results and your life is adulting." #DailyFortune
Conducted an interview with Coach Janell Jones yesterday. She spoke about her 9 affirmations for helping you love yourself and know your worth. The second affirmation in her book is forgive yourself. We spent some time on this topic as we discussed how often people look outside of themselves to affirm who they are. It is hard to move forward in your life when you're being controlled by the emotions and feelings connected to past hurts. It's imperative to apologize to yourself.
Trauma stunts growth. You're still acting as a child in that area of your life even if you're being adult in other areas.
Addiction is a traumatic event. Many believe addicts stop maturing when they fall into active addiction. My addiction kicked off in college and I continued to behave like a 20-year-old selfish kid who didn't have much responsibility or a care in the world outside of what would serve me. It wasn't until I got clean that I began to be more selfless in my selfishness. An early step in my recovery was forgiving myself for the harms I had done to others and to myself. With time, I learned to let go of that pain. It was an intentional act.
1. Write out how you've been hairy and how it affected you
2. Accept responsibility for your role
3. 5 Ways to Forgive and Take Back Control of Your Life
- * Write a letter
- * Say a prayer and meditate
- * Face-to-face conversation
- * Talk to someone else (FBI method)
- * Express physically without causing harm to you or someone else
4. Let it go and move on
5. Take full responsibility from here on and stop complaining
Can only clean your side of the street. Make your apologies and whatever amends you're going to make and keep it moving. Don't expect people to reciprocate. Doing so is a set up for disappointment, pain, and new resentments.
To take responsibility for your life and control of your life, you must forgive those that have harmed you. Release the cognitive, emotional, and spiritual baggage because... "Taking full responsibility for your results and your life is adulting."
Your challenge:
Begin with yourself. Apologize to yourself first.

"Early learning paves the way for future successes." #DailyFortune
2 weeks ago, I met with the admin for a local Boys & Girls Club. We talked about who I am, how I can help, and how they operate. I was given two tours.
Before leaving, I was asked to bring in subject matter to speak with the teens about. What are you suggestions based on this list?
Study skills
- how to master anything
- learn more in less time
- scheduling gives you more free time
Communication
- creating your circle of influence
- how to express feelings & journaling
- talking vs texting and peer facilitation
Financial management
- what to do with a dollar
- how to make money
- how to invest and save money
Confidence building
- dealing with bullies and teasing
- how to talk to yourself & the Facebook effect
- mindfulness and stress
These do not guarantee a straight and narrow path but it show what it looks like because "early learning paves the way for future success."
Your challenge:
Talk to your teenagers (or kids) today about what they want to learn but isn't taught in school.

DF ep 003 - How to Have an Endless Number of Innovative Business Ideas
"When you run out of ideas, SCAMPER instead."
I was reading a book called "WWHW"
- Why is this important? What's the problem? How do I solve it? What do I do now?
- similar to the 6WH questions I teach authors to use to focus the intent of their books
The structure is about creating content and communicating it well and it reminds me of a framework taught by Million Dollar Coach Taki Moore.
SCAMPER thinking => creativity model
Substitute
Combine
Adapt
Modify
Put to a new use
Eliminate
Reverse or rearrange
Facilitate your creativity with models. It's almost like fill-in-the-blank ad libs. What can you put here and here? Choose from your creations which you'll use. Some will sound weird. Some okay. But, one will rock!
Your challenge:
When you're look for fresh ideas for a project, try SCAMPER thinking today. Go through the suggestions and create a list of ideas. Then, implement one.
DF ep 002 - Tramell's Fit to Fat to Fit Story
"Running a mile in someone else's shoes prepares you to keep running in your own."
Watched an episode of Fit to Fat to Fit
- Tramell took on two new clients
- gained over 60 pounds
- trained with them for 4 months
- lost over 40 pounds
Learned what it's like to be teased for his size - and the difficulty putting on socks.
Tramell's cravings for sugar persisted after he started his journey back to being fit - and the difficulty of not eating any sweets or weighing and measuring portions for every meal.
He didn't lose all of the weight he gained - and the difficulty of accepting his new physique.
Tramell's transformation was more than physical.
- new body
- new perspective
- new life-satisfaction
Your challenge:
The next time you think about criticizing someone of the way they look or act take a moment to see life from their perspective. How would you act if you'd been through what they'd been through?

DF ep 001 - Nothing Comes to a Sleeper but Dreams
"Nothing comes to a sleeper but dreams."
Had a conversation by the pool about the law of attraction
- thinking creates the universe
- still hasn't published his book
- God created the world with word
God told us to use our hands - and to work with excellence
He told us to think on things that are worthy, noble, and excellent - and to transform ourselves by renewing our mind
He told us faith requires our action - as Tupac said, "The only thing that comes to a sleeping man is a dream."
It's good to dream but you must do.
It's good to think but you must do.
It's good to believe but you must do.
Positive thinking and negative thinking do not stop people from achieving. Both types of thinking submit to the action-taker. Your thinking determines your level of life satisfaction not your life achievements.
Your challenge:
Do it scared. Do it tired. Do it when you don't want to do it.
Need some more motivation? Check out A.L. Williams "Do It" speech. (He's the founder of the company now called Primerica.) You're gonna love his speech!

Cover offers sell the offer...
What do you offer? Think profit first...
Where to put supporting files and docs and your core offer...
Won't people get tire of the offers? So what...
Add value and offer to add more...
Every investment you make with your time, energy, and money should have an ROI. Your book is no different. Without making an offer, your book helps someone else's business. Be sure to make offers early and often for the products you wrote the book to support. And, add value before asking for more convos.

Session 6: You’re Not Using Persuasive Writing
A major mistake first-time authors make is to just start writing the stories they want to write. While there’s nothing wrong with storytelling, it’s a waste of your time if you’re writing the wrong story in the wrong way.
Do you really want to rewrite your book? Save yourself some time energy & money with the SYSTEM below (see what I did there?)…

The goal of your book is to affect change in mindset with your ideas. the goal of each chapter is the same.
The mindset is made up of attitudes, beliefs, and commitments…
Robert Cialdini’s book, Influence, offers 6 principles:
- Reciprocity: give something away
- Scarcity – consequences of inaction & your unique process
- Authority – the book itself & your achievements
- Consistency – ask for small commitments (eg. downloads) & upsell
- Liking – be transparent with your story to build rapport & be complimentary
- Consensus – use case studies from your business & “most people”
How do I do all six in a chapter?
Use the STORY framework…
But, I am not a copywriter.
You set everything up in the first two phases of Preparation and Planning (particularly the 6WH questions)…
It won’t be fluid on paper because I sell better in person – use your editors and proofreaders for feedback

Why You're #onebookaway From a Business Breakthrough
Session 4: You Don't Offer One Solution to One Problem
If I asked you what problem you solve, would you be able to give me an exact answer?
For the first year of coaching, I would have recited an answer I'd created based on a formula from a marketer. The next quarter, I would have changed the response. And, a new response in the next quarter.
I knew what I wanted to do. I didn't know how to tell people what I did because I did so many things. Or so I thought...
The truth is I only wanted to work with one type of person. The problem is I felt I needed to be open to whatever came my way.
Maybe you don't have that problem. You know what problem you solve. The next part is more important for you. How do you solve the problem?
That's what this episode is about. What is your system for solving the problem you solve? What's your process for taking people from problem to promise?

How to Beat Writer's Block for Good
Session 5: You Have No Way to Overcome Writer’s Block
A prolific writer. That's the goal if you're trying to be a professional writer. You write every day. No matter what. No excuses.
Does that mean you'll always have something to say. Probably not. Not having anything to say is not a matter of writer's block. It's a matter of preparation.
When prolific writer's have nothing to say, it's usually because of external influences. Barring things outside of your control, today's conversation will give you the tools you need to eliminate writer's block and compose content like a prolific writer -- like a machine.
Notes from the show:
Prompt your brain to give you answers and eliminate writer’s block forever
What color is your car?
When did you graduate from school?
What’s your favorite sandwich?
How do you make it?
I don’t know what to write – focus on questions about your expertise not on filling pages with the right words
I’m not good at writing – record your answers into a phone and have them transcribed
Isn’t the written word different than the spoken word? Yes, have your transcription edited
The brain is hardwired to answer questions. Even when you don’t want to answer a question aloud, you answer in your head before refusing to speak. Use specific questions to prompt your brain for your answers.
This is step 3 of the Writer’s Block Eliminator. First, you have to get the stuff out of your head before dictating or presenting the content.

"Planning for success will make you even more creative." - Danielle LaPorte

Why do you want to write a book?
What purpose does it serve you?
Writing a book is hard work.
You must know why you're writing it.
Do you want credibility, leads, speaking engagements, educate your clients, or book sales?
Each of these require a certain structure and different types of examples that lead to your offer.
Only determine what you want your book to do for you.
People have told you that you should write a book. Doesn't mean that you should.
Know your why, write according to your why, and focus only on your why for each book you want to publish.
Your book is not your profit center. Decide how you want it to profit you and map out your product offering using the SIGNATURE Book Profit Spreadsheet. You'll identify your products, profits, price, and number of people you need for each product. Over time you'll know the number of books you need to sell or give away to make a sale for each product you offer.

How to WIN Your Day Using This Simple, 3-Word Question
Ya see, motivation is triggered through urgency. Depending on the individual, urgency triggers flight or flight because it creates tension and anxiety. How much of each depends on the situation and the person. Yet, the resulting reaction in the body is the same: adrenaline rush.
Urgency creates anxiety creates adrenaline creates movement
That equation is one to remember. It is the reason your boss tells you to move with a sense of urgency. They want you to get it done NOW! Do you crack the whip on yourself, though?
Most people don't. They have been conditioned to rely on their masters... oops... bosses to do that for them. In the entrepreneurial space, you are your own master and slave. You decide what you will tell yourself to do.

The 3 Pieces of #RealChange
It all sounded weird when the thought smacked me in the forehead. But, the more I have looked at my life, the more I have noticed that some of my favorite t-shirts have small stains or holes in them from years of wear and tear. You know the ones. There the ones you wear around your house because you don't care what anyone thinks. You're in your house and you'll wear what you darned well please.
Now, what if you began to treat your life the same way? What if you wore that t-shirt like it was a suit of armor? That doesn't mean you have to beat people over the head with your failures. When you do that, you're doing it for your own feelings and not because it was necessary.

What this reveals is that we have hard-wiring in our brain that seeks pleasure and that, once stimulated, continues to seek that pleasure and that, when readily available, people will do some uncanny things to feel good. So, the question is:
Why do so many people wallow in their own painful memories and resentments instead of seeking ways to feel good? Why do entrepreneurs hesitate to act on their ideas and share their products and services with the market when they enjoy the benefits of being paid and being of service?

I had stupid stuck all over me. I'd fallen for that trap again... because I care about him. I even felt bad about letting him upset me. Now, I want to see him prosper. He has a good heart and has experienced a lot of craziness in his life. A lot of it was self-imposed. That's true for most of you. We tend to inflict our own wounds and point to others as the bad guys.
Your decisions are your decisions. Your future is predicated on your decisions. Other things influence your life but you still make decisions all day long that determine where you'll end up at the end of the day.
The nature of free will is such that when presented with a incident in life - whether opportunity or opposition - we are afforded a chance to make a decision.

Eeny Meeny Miny Moe Wasn't Just a Game
I went from focusing on mastering one thing, paying for the expertise in that area, and getting to work on that one thing to trying to master everything and get free resources to get there. The former process worked. The latter process didn't.
Refine your focus. Fine tune your vision. Get rid of the distractions. Narrow down your sights and watch how the world opens up to you.
Stop trying to be all things to all people. You serve no one by doing that.

Practice, Perform, and Become
1. You don't practice your craft. Just because you're talented doesn't mean that you don't need practice. And, if you are not that talented, you may need even more practice.
2. You don't perform often enough. You have to make your product and services available. Yes, you must practice but you also must perform. You cannot sit on your laurels and wait til you have everything mastered before you unleash your product to the world.
3. You don't try to be one of the best at what you do. No excuse for this. The only reason why you wouldn't want to be one the best at what you do is that you're doing something that doesn't feed your fire.
A Child's Imagination, A Grandpa's Dream
My father, at 60, jumps on the drums and has a good 'ol time playing along with some of his favorite tracks. He even performed at our family Christmas party this past year. My daughter has just as much fun whether she has music or not. She's a child but that has not bearing on what you can do.
And, you think that you don't need to keep growing. That's hogwash (yep, you can still say that word). And, you can still use your imagination. It's one of your prized possessions. At least, it should be.
