Streak running (running every single day) is not just about the run, it's about how running sustains us in life. I will share my daily run experience from over 18 years of a daily run streak. I will be interviewing other run streakers as well as sharing tips and motivation in how you can do it too!

Obstacle 2: Lack of Interest, boredom

Obstacle 2: Lack of Interest, boredom

Today we dive into Patanjali Yoga Sutra's 1.30 and the second obstacle towards a practice, in this case we are talking about a running practice. The second obstacle is Styāna – Apathy, lack of interest and enthusiasm, boredom. Do you ever feel bored towards something you have been doing? Then you begin to question it and maybe even change it. Lack of interest can fluctuate during times in our life. In my running life, my approach to this obstacle has been to keep running boring, so that I am not used to something exciting all the time. The mind thrives off of excitement and distraction. To be able to keep the mind focused and excited in states of boredom is overcoming this obstacle. So keep at it!

Obstacle 1 : Physical Illness

Obstacle 1 : Physical Illness

Today I talk about obstacle 1 in Patanjali Yoga sutras - physical illness and disease "Vyadhi. Over the past 20 years, I have been sick many times, too many too count. I count the miles, but I don't count the times I was sick. Note that this illness is specifically physical illness, mental illness is not covered in this obstacle outlined in the sutra. That comes later. When I get injured or sick, I find a way to run. The pace is slower and I am extremely careful about not overcompensating and creating another injury if I am changing my gait to accomodate the injury.

Season 3 - Obstacles in a Running Practice

Season 3 - Obstacles in a Running Practice

This season is all about OBSTACLES! In order to run every single day, there will be obstacles. Don't be under the impression that it's easy. I am relating the obstacles in running to what Patanjali describes in the Yoga sutras (1.30):

1. Disease

2. Lack of interest, boredom

3. Self doubt

4. Distraction, carelessness

5. Burn out

6. Desire/craving

7. Living under misunderstanding

8. Doubting progress

9. Inability to maintain achievements

In each episode we will go through these obstacles and how to overcome them, how to see obstacles as learning opportunities. I will also be interviewing other streak runners as well.

30 Days of Daily Motivation

30 Days of Daily Motivation

In this episode I talk about why people are not able to complete the 30 day run streak challenge. It’s more than just running or walking every single day for 30 days. It’s about coming face to face with self limiting beliefs and thought patterns. Few have made it 10 days. In over 6,000 consecutive days of running, I’ve had to overcome many obstacles - thousands, just to get in my run. I’ve created this group “30 Days of Daily Motivation” for accountability, support and expert guidance to not only succeed in the 30 day run streak challenge but also as a way to overcome challenges and obstacles in day to day life that prevent you from connecting with yourself.

5 Reasons Why You Hate Running

1. You don’t believe you have the image of a “runner” 2. You think running is boring 3. You are scared 4. You think you look stupid 5. Thought patterns. All essentially are reasons that your mind creates for you to be trapped and stay within the confines of your own comfort. Break free. Try running.
