Personally, I've always had great medical care with the VA. My issues are in other areas. Now I'm giving free advice that no one asked me for. :D I am here to help save money, get infinite ROI and serve veterans better with 2 simple recommendations.

So, I've been thinking. There's been some over arching thing that's missing from out Veterans Service Organization. It boiled down to one keyword that I extended into an extended piece that was part rant and part illustrating what I meant. I know attention spans are short, but I think I might really be on to something to save our orgs as well as helping our veterans and our communities.

It's Vietnam War Veterans Day. Please join me in saying "Welcome Home" to all who deployed and "THANK YOU" to anyone who served honorable in that difficult time. All service matters!

There's a LOT going on here, I admit:

1. My 2nd year stroke survival anniversary.

2. Women's History on a personal level.

3. Giving props to the VA Hospital.

My schedule has been off with this dagumb ankle injury. This week will be chaotic as well as I go in for surgery on Thursday.

This episode is advocating for advocacy for yourself, others & community. I use examples from my own experiences and the efforts of friends.

I'm still out of the studio and this episode is in two locations: 1. The hospital, and 2. My couch.

So, the FriDALY BRIEFing wasn't on time. What had happened was...I had a day!!!

I am back after a little holiday season break. Yesterday, I spent a good deal of time branding, including making this little video clip that will serve as a trailer for the show and also be part of the intro.
I ran it by a couple of confidants, took their feedback, and made some tweaks. Of course, it features the new logo with a "CLASSIFIED" stamp.

There was an event this past weekend in San Diego American Legion District 22. SAN DIEGO AMERICAN LEGION 'BE THE ONE' WEEKEND was a high-profile, suicide prevention awareness, membership, and community resource event. We need more of these across the country!
The American Legion National Commander, Daniel Seehafer was there and challenged all of us to live up to the idea that we are here to Change Lives and Save Lives. You can hear him and then hear my takeaways in this episode.
Event organizer Vic Martin also spoke of how no organization can do it alone, so this episode also features one of the resource organizations, Workshops for Warriors.

Today, I talk about Hire Heroes USA and give a shoutout to Veterans in Media & Entertainment. They are both great if you are on the job hunt. VME is awesome for entertainment-related jobs and Hire Heroes USA is great for multiple industries and is for Veterans, Military Spouses, and Transitioning Service Members!

There's a lot going on that is scary in the world. Many things are out of your control, but there are organizations like Team Rubicon, where you can make a difference! I talk about Team Rubicon and other ways that I see veterans organizations creating a positive impact as well as improving their recruiting...all with....mystique!

Do veterans stop being heroes when they leave the service? I have two stories that both illustrate that some veterans keep that ethos in honorable ways under dangerous situations. The rest of us can also be heroes. * We can be part of the grassroots veteran voice: www.legion.org/action. * We can donate blood. * We can get together and clean a community park. I propose that we become Community Heroes by learning CPR/First Aid/AED + Mental Health First Aid + Basic Self Defense. Who better than veterans to train and then act on that training when the need arises?
