While doing research for a local public radio show, I kept coming across records of a notorious colonial woman named Anne Toft who lived on Virginia's Eastern Shore. Anne's story fascinated me. I decided to write a novel - The Persistent Buccaneer - about this intrepid survivor who rose from obscurity to wealth and power.
