I want to say I recorded this episode about 3.5 weeks ago. I wrote down some things that give us pleasure when we do them. Among them are common things like: drugs, sex, alcohol, etc.

These things, in my opinion, can become addicting and, at minimum, can distract us from more important things and more important questions that we haven't thought about long and hard enough.

Maybe none of these distract you or maybe they do. Maybe there's things I didn't mention that distract you. But, as always, the point of the episode is to provoke thought and the hope is that in some small way you think about something that improves or helps your life.

Are you off to a slow start?

Are you making slow progress?

Have you "taken off?"

My thoughts are that this Podcast, and my YouTube Channel even, is off to a slow start, but it is making slow progress.

More of my thoughts are that I'm off to a slow start in a low of areas of my life, and it used to bother me but it doesn't anymore.

Being off to a slow start means: you started.

Congratulations! Most people don't.

Being off to a slow start means: you're moving slowly, but you're MOVING.

Congratulations! You might actually get where you want to get.

Not starting at all guarantees you'll never "take off"/succeed.

And neither does starting and then making slow progress.

But with starting and slow progress there's at least the possibility that you'll "take off"/succeed.

Why don't you want to try? Are you scared of trying? Are you scared of making a mistake? Are you scared of failing?

I reflect on something I learned from a coworker some time back:

The older we get, the harder it is to learn because we're scared of making a mistake and failing.

Making mistakes and failing is part of learning anything new.

So what do we do?

I think we try anyways, especially if it's something we need to learn;

but even if it's something we just want to learn.

Fear, or being scared, is a mental state, but it's also an emotion/feeling.

I think we need to move forward, learn, and do the thing even if we feel fear.

Have you every thought about your blessings?

Even the obvious ones?

It's probably harder to notice and think about the obvious ones because they're so obvious.

I decided to write down a page of my obvious blessings and share what I came up with-with you.

My hope is you'll think about some obvious blessings and that-that will re-energize, rejuvenate, excite you, and fill you with enthusiasm.

When you want something or when you want to do something: it happens in steps. And you need to work on the steps frequently. And you need to do it at a frequency that you can sustain for a period of time until you get what you want or do the thing you want to do. So that begs the question: what can I sustain? What can you sustain? I think we have this ideal frequency: "I want to do 'x' one hour a day." But what happens if we can only do it 10 mins a day? Or 15 mins a day? More often than not: we do zero because we can't do it the ideal hour that we want to do. But it's better to sustain doing something for 10-15 minutes a day or even 5 minutes a day than never doing it because you can't devote as much time as we'd like. 

That and some other thoughts on this 56th episode of the Dani Flo Podcast.

On the "positive" side (for lack of better terminology), sometimes it feels like we're winning at life (or in parts of our life). On the "negative" side, sometimes it feels like we're losing at life (or in parts of our life). The latter feels more often than the former. Why is that? I can think of two reasons that go hand-in-hand on why it feels this way to us, and I think if we stopped doing these two things then it wouldn't feel like we're losing at life as often as it feels like it does. Haters are real. But I think the majority of the time: my biggest hater is me and your biggest hater is you. Other people have less impact on our life and choices than we have on our life and choices. Why don't you wake up early? Because you didn't want to; that's not a haters fault. Why don't you work harder? Because you don't want to; that's not a haters fault. Etc. Essentially, you and I are getting in our own way; way more than a hater is.

Some things were important to us and then they stopped, some were and still are, and some weren't and then they became and are important, and some weren't and then became important and then went back to being unimportant (I think that covers it). 

Well, I always wanted to be a father since I was a kid but then (for various reasons) I decided I didn't want kids (or marriage) and then once I became Catholic I went back to my original desire of wanting to be a father (and a good one). 

Well, after I decided (again) to pursue it, I remember listening to a podcast about fatherhood intensifying for someone and I knew that it would for me one day, too.  

Well, that day has come, my fatherhood has intensified (and probably will again).

And that has started a new "lifetime" for me. By "lifetime" I mean season, time period, chapter of my life. And recently it got me thinking about how I break up all of the different lifetimes/seasons in my life. So, in this episode I share my thoughts about how I do that and the purpose is to provoke you to get to thinking about your own life. Are you in a new lifetime/season of your life? I recorded this episode on my thirtieth birthday. I started my podcast because I wanted and still want to help people. I'm not sure why, but I do. I recently listened to my first episode and I asserted that I intended to teach and I'm not sure that I've done a very good job at that or if that is still my intention. However, my intention with this episode is to continue something I started that I thought I would be good at and was not as good as I thought I would be but want to get better at. Also, it's a shift from intending to teach to intend to provoke deep thought in you. As I type this description it's a little past the middle of Lent 2022. I recently listened to a talk by Fulton Sheen on the Fulton Sheen App that I purchased some years ago and the title of his talk is "Philosophy of Life" so I thought it appropriate to listen to it since that is what my podcast is supposed to be about. I listened to it to improve my spirituality since it is lent (as I'm typing this). In this episode, I'm not summarizing what Fulton Sheen said in his talk but instead what it made me think about and my hope is that what I say will make you think about your own philosophy of life and whether you believe that there is an objective purpose for your life or not. And if there isn't an objective purpose for your life are you creating a subjective purpose or what are you doing about a purposeless life? Think about it. If you've ever wondered if Hispanics love the United Sates or you know a lot of them that do and are wondering why then this episode of the Dani Flo Podcast is for you. I give two main reasons why love of country, not just our native country, but our new country the United States, is a value Hispanics have and that we've conserved and want to keep conserving. I've been thinking about what the first, most important, Hispanic-conservative value is and so I made a podcast episode about it. We're in an election year and people on the gram bam and other social medias are more political because they think "the other side" would ruin everything if they won. And some people don't understand why some Hispanics are conservative so I talk about our history as a religious people as well as the Cristero war and I finish with a quote by Fulton Sheen. I’ve been thinking a lot about why I was born in America instead of Mexico. Both of my parents were born in Mexico and they had family down there and so I could’ve been born in one of the states they were born in but, that’s not what happened. Ultimately I think there is one reason most Mexican parents want their children and grandchildren to be Mexican-American and that is: better opportunity. That comes in two forms and I think these two things are what most immigrants want for their offspring; not just Mexican immigrants. I think we should keep the reason why immigrants come here while at the same time addressing issues like racism in America. Listen for my thoughts and enjoy! The fourth of July is coming up and a lot of things are thoughtfully being called racist because of the civil unrest and tension in the United States of America. However, a lot of things are mindlessly being called racist as well and I’m sure someone somewhere has called the 4th of July racist already, but even if I’m too late I wanted to share why I don’t think it’s racist. I thought about it for a few days and the next opportunity I had I recorded my thoughts on this video. I’m Mexican because my parents were Mexican and they wanted me to be born in the United States and I respect their decision. As far as I can tell the 4th of July happened because we disagreed with Britain on how we should be governed not because of race.
