Innocence
 you have an innocence on the inside of you that is so endearing. This is how children are so loveable. Innocence is not  judgment, sees the good, loves without expectation,  knows what it wants, and what it does not want. Innocence is our purity, trust, and  authentic concern for others. NO with less drama!
NO, I said no. Just because I said so. That doesn't work very well in a  quality conversation. Defending or explaining a no creates drama. A  reason is simple and to point. A reason would be "because it's best for  all of us" or "I don't want to." Defending or explaining with a lot of  words brings about drama.  Quality conversations include a reason for the NO. Quality conversations use less words
Have you ever hummed while someone was talking to you? I am working with  a couple and he was humming while she was talking Not very effective  communication. She kept repeating the same thing in different words and  he was just done with the conversation. We have all been there, done  with the current conversation . Quality conversations get to the point  quickly. Research says that after the third senttence what you are  saying can't be remembered anyway. Listen more talk less!
Listening is not an easy skill for most of us. Great listeners are not thinking of a reply while the other person is talking. Great  listeners allow the other person to finish talking completely. Silence  is your friend, in all conversations. Talking less and listening more  and allowing for moments of silence improve the quality of  conversations. Are you facing a big decision today?
Are you facing a big decision or thinking about taking a chance on something new? This process can be difficult as we ask ourselves "should I" or "shouldn't I" over and over. Most of us have been conditioned to use fear as a guide to keep us safe when making potentially life changing decisions and taking chances in life. How many times do you catch yourself contemplating the what if's... What if it doesn't work? What if I fail? What if I wish I could go back and change my mind? We have all done this at some point when we don't feel confident about our ability to choose or the outcomes we may face. But what if we took our fear out of the equation? What if we imagined our best outcome and focused on the positive what if's such as...What if I succeed? What if it works? What if my choice has a positive, lasting impact on others lives? Can you imagine how wonderful that would feel? I'm not saying you should jump off every cliff you see but definitely consider the positive outcomes when making life changing decisions.

When I bought the Blue honda civic several years ago, I loved how it  looked. Grandmas and open heartedeness
I’m working with a client who has been writing about her grandma and how much she loved her. She stated in her journal that grandma shamed those in her world to follow her rules. She was re-writing the way she felt about grandma because she was moving away from the shame that she felt and learning to except grandma for who she was. Open hearted ness of this is rewriting your experience as a child and looking at things as they really are. She’s a young lady was letting go of the shame and was acknowledging that she loved grandma and excepting her completely. That freedom is called open heartedness. I love you I’m Dan Clark

What does an open heart mean? It means you’re not judging the current circumstance as good or bad and you’re excepting what is happening as true. This gives you the freedom to choose without being reactive. Awareness of your mindset and emotions mean/or activity unless judgment. Words Can Change Your Brain: This is such a fascinating book. He did  research on how to have wonderful conversations that improve intimacy.  He states you should SLOW THE WORDS DOWN. Like, talk slow. I demonstrate this in the audio version of this. When you talk slow the other person actually listens more intently. So next time you want to be heard and  create a closer relationship with someone, talk SLOW and only one or two sentences before allowing them to talk. Am I lost or is it just an accident?
I am lost. I do not know where I am? It does not happen to me often.  Would you call that an accident? Not really. It might be poor planning,  no map, or many other things. It was an accident, Really! Have you ever said that? We all have. When  we are intentional, we don't say that, correct? Or do we? If accidents  happen, then what is the opposite of being intentional? It takes effort to be intentional!
What exactly is intentionality? It is when you are intentional. Because our unconscious does so much of the work for us, being intentional takes  great planning and focus. Being forgetful, and getting off track means you were not intentional! Setting Goals and achieving them takes effort  using intentionality. Goals for 2021
Take a moment and think about 2020. Did you achieve the goals you set for that year? I sure didn't What I am learning is how powerful my intentions are.  I was not as intentional as I could have been and that resulted in me having fewer goals achieved.   This year, I am choosing to be more intentional by using a daily routine of what I intend to do that day, giving me better control over the outcome. Why am I doing what I am doing? We all have these patterns that we repeat in our life. If these patterns are creating difficulties,  especially in relationships, then maybe we should look into the pattern.  Patterns that are most difficult to change are ones that are learned before the age of 7. For example, ask yourself where you are most like your mom or your dad? That is a pattern. I am not sad...
I am not sad, I am not angry, and I am not afraid. I have these because of the choices I have made. Choices do not prevent sadness, anger, or being afraid. Where does anxiety come from ?
Where does anxiety come from? I have discovered that anxiety is unprocessed energy. Or another way to say it is, anxiety is words you have not spoken. Learning to talk about what you experienced and not what happened releases the energy inside you. Journaling, and or talking about what you were experiencing moves the energy away from you. In a  severe anxiety attack, the energy inside you is in control and you are not. Often the feeling you going to die is related to not being able to control it. Close your eyes for 2 minutes!
When it is safe, close your eyes for 2 minutes and do nothing. When you  shut off sight, it heightens the other senses. The mind tends to wander off and you begin thinking about all kinds of things. In preparation for meditating try this. Set a timer for 2 minutes, close your eyes, and be aware of what is happening on the inside of you. I am not sure I believe in Karma. I do believe that our minds shape our lives. What we think and what we say is how WE behave. What we don't say also is very important too because those words also affect our behavior. Owing our deeper unsaid words reveal what we don't want others to know. These words affect our behavior too. Make your bed mindfully!
Make your bed, mindfully! Yes Mindfully. I stay at a couple's studio apartment two days a week when I am in Kansas working. There is a twin bed I sleep in.  I leave the apartment better than I find it most days. I  am very mindful of cleaning up behind me. and I make the bed very mindfully. Standing Still for ten minutes
Wow, I started practicing this and it really works. Standing still for ten minutes. It is not hard to do, but it is so hard to do. This is a  practice of centering yourself and it is done as a meditation technic in the orient. Stand feet shoulder length apart, arms at your side, back straight, and practice being present with your whole body. Notice what you notice about your body as you connect with it. Feel your body. Transformation can be messy - Like brushing your teeth with the opposite hand!
Have you ever tried to brush your teeth with the opposite hand? Can be comical and difficult. Finding each tooth, keeping the toothpaste inside your mouth! And the concentration it takes. Transformation is just like that. Messy, comical, difficult, and sometimes hard to keep somethings from slipping out of your mouth. Here is a challenge. Windshield Story
My dad, who has been gone for a number of years now, had some great  sayings. One was this. When there is ice or snow on the windshield, you want to make sure their window is clean too, otherwise, they will be on your side of the car, looking out your window. That is so true. Choosing your own path can be a difficult decision. An example is  Patrick Mahomes.  His father was a pitcher in the Major Leagues and his  family expected their son to follow in his fathers foot steps. However,  Patrick choose football as his path. Do you have a night light in your hall? It sheds light so you can see where you are going. Syncronicity!
I was recently at an event where they passed out coins for each day of the week with a word to focus on that day. When I got to my room I noticed that I had two Thursdays and didn't have a Monday. That morning I told them I had two Thursdays. They said it looks like I would have a really great Thursday. My reply was "I want a MONDAY!"   Monday morning, while walking in the hall alone after a bathroom break, there in the middle of the floor was a MONDAY coin! What is Peanut Butter Emotion?
Peanut butter emotions?  Rick Blue in his book "Surprised by God" calls some emotions Peanut butter emotions. He states that when you put enough peanut butter on something that is all you can taste. When you have an emotional bucket that is full of one emotion, then that tends to be the only emotion you feel! Everything makes you angry! How do you empty the bucket? Say the emotion. Do you hide your sadness?
So you really hide your sadness? Isn't sadness a natural emotion that shows up on the inside of us? I seldom hear someone say to me they are sad. I often say to them they seem sad and they agree. Sadness is not depression it is just sad. A couple of Saturdays ago I sat in my living room and was sad for a few hours while I journaled and thought. I let it pass through me. Congruent Self?
Congruent? Healthy adults are emotionally congruent. That means they are the same on the inside as they are on the outside. Water Glass Theory
The Clear Glass theory. Say we have a glass of water with sediment at the bottom. We stir it really hard, and now you can't see through the clear water because the sediment is everywhere. As you let the glass sit  for a while the sediment goes back to the bottom. Life can be like that. As long as no one is bothering you, you are fine. You get a charge from someone and you are like that glass, all cloudy with emotions.  Getting that sediment out of the bottom is not easy. The Bucket Theory
Have you heard the bucket theory? It's based on the idea that we don't want to feel an emotion at the moment. So we stuffed it in this bucket.  Talking about it doesn't make it go away.  For the emotion to be released out of the bucked you have to acknowledge the emotion that you're feeling by saying it: I'm hurt. Do you often feel like you have to defend or explain your yes or your no? When was the last time you said yes, or no, and let that be the end of it! Raising children can be tough because they might need some details however when you are explaining or defending your decisions, it creates drama. Learning to let your yes and no be simply yes or no can be so freeing. Giving detail about the yes is not the same a defending or explaining. Give it a try. Allstate Commercial
I love the Allstate insurance commercial with the cars that have items  on the top of them they forgot about! I did that that other day. Meditation has become the cornerstone of feeling more alive, present,  and worrying less. Like not being good at sports, once you think you can never do something or you try and it seems too hard, the tendency is to quit. Your brain is a muscle. Meditation
Meditation has become a way of life for me. Google Dr. Joe Dispenza when you get the chance. He has some amazing information on how to  meditation and it's value. I don't meditate every day, but do at least 5  days a week. Sometimes I do an hour or more, and sometimes only 10 min.  I even meditate in the middle of the day. Meditation is best defined as  knowing what you are thinking about in the inside and attempting to move this inner person to be more Godly. I have a free meditation that is ten min long! Baby Birds
We have a bird's nest on our back porch. We are honored to be baby bird grandparents of two, maybe three, baby wrens. Because they are in a  metal wash bin our back porch we can see right into the nest. These baby birds are so cute. You can only see part of them as they are hiding in the nest. On a good day, they sit with open mouths waiting for a parent bird to bring them food. Right now I am watching one of the parents bring a worm to them. I keep my distance. The Big Dipper
Where is the big dipper? Well, do you think you can find it?  The other night I was walking to my vehicle and just perchance looked up. There were so many stars and the night was bright with the glow of the night sky.  I took a moment and moved to a place where I could see more stars.  There it was. The big dipper. Are you a picky eater?
Are you a picky eater?  I recently was asked what I liked in my potato salad? That was followed up with they knew I was a picky eater! Well, maybe I am and didn't really think about it that way. Who is your best friend? I was recently confronted with the idea that  "my family is where I feel safe, and my best friends are my family"  Well, there are some issues here.  This person was afraid to separate from family, and become her own individual. That translates into NOT  MULTITASKING.  When you are doing what you are doing as if it the only thing you are doing, it slows down time!  Children perceive time as slow because they are PRESENT  without the constant chatter we adults have. Try this! Do a task for 20  min and really focus. Time will slow down.

Are you facing a big decision
Are you facing a big decision or thinking about taking a chance on something new? This process can be difficult as we ask ourselves "should I" or "shouldn't I" over and over. Most of us have been conditioned to use fear as a guide to keep us safe when making potentially life changing decisions and taking chances in life. How many times do you catch yourself contemplating the what if's... What if it doesn't work? What if I fail? What if I wish I could go back and change my mind? We have all done this at some point when we don't feel confident about our ability to choose or the outcomes we may face. But what if we took our fear out of the equation? What if we imagined our best outcome and focused on the positive what if's such as...What if I succeed? What if it works? What if my choice has a positive, lasting impact on others lives? Can you imagine how wonderful that would feel? I'm not saying you should jump off every cliff you see but definitely consider the positive outcomes when making life changing decisions.

Pray and Sunday seem to go together. Recently I was reading a book on  energy. This author wanted to see if thought and feeling could influence  an object. For example, they put a plant halfway across the world, had  people take 20 min imagining the plant changing color. The next day the  plant changed color. Taking Breaks
Taking breaks is so refreshing. Research has shown that when you take breaks you are actually resetting your brain. I practiced this today. I  took a break every 55 min and it worked. I feel so much more energy and more productive. Getting out of my chair, drinking water, stretching,  and going outside are things I did. Why happiness doesn't last for ever

I just returned from an event with 2500 attendees.  About a dozen have become friends and we enjoyed our time together.  Those moments are very precious to me. I even made a lot of new friends.  However, today I am not sad that they are not with me all the time.  It's not possible. Today a client told me how beautiful it was that he was given the 6 weeks to spend with his dad who was diagnosed with brain cancer.  The beauty was his dad didn't die  suddenly and he didn't get to say goodbye. What does winter mean to you? In my growing up years it meant less time outside. What do you do during the cold winter days? Do you complain about the cold? Do you stay indoors? Are You a Warrior?
Are you a warrior? Do you fight for the underdog? Yesterday I sat for 10  min working on my internal emotions and thoughts. Quietly I was telling my body that it didn't need what it wanted. And it was 10 min. I won.  The warrior in me didn't want my body to win. I was determined to not eat that candy bar. It was my internal emotions and thought patterns that were screaming for a fix! Winter was fun as a kid
Winter was fun as a kid. I remember what seemed like a 3-foot snow one winter. My brother and I dug a tunnel through the snow from the front door toward the igloo we had made. We spent hours working in the cold wet snow. Today, I drove 35 for wood for our fireplace. As I was throwing it into the pickup, I was aware I was not complaining or feeling cold. I was enjoying it!
