Suffering is the Christian life. We look to Christ who suffered so that we might have life in his name. We suffer for the everlasting joy that is set before us.

Faith is the narrow road to life; the ditches are denying God or trying to usurp his throne. His grace, the undeserved gift of life by the death and resurrection of Christ, is the only way.

The promise of an inheritance from God comes through the righteousness of faith.

What makes people "the chosen people of God" is God's gracious choosing. This blessing is for those who trust in his promise of the blessing of righteousness as true children trust their father.
Romans 4:1-8
Man is only ever as great as God's grace allows him to be. The greatest gift we have received is the righteousness of Christ, and we cannot live without him.

The human doctrine of arrival is satanic; faith is the death of pride, but the way to life.

Christ's death on the cross proclaims God's righteousness and justice; it is grace and life for sinful men and women.

The law is a gift from God so that we might be convicted of our sin and come to know our need for his salvation.

God graciously enters into covenant relationship with sinners. Jesus fulfills the demands of God's justice for us as law-breakers.

Knowing Christ sets us free from self-pity and pride; the cross crushes self-flagellation and self-congratulation.

We must be fully aware of the depth of our sin so that we might fully understand the depth of his grace.
Romans 1:22-32
The world has rejected God and His Word, fleeing life and peace. The gospel is the only way to true life, eternal at that.
Romans 1:18-23
We ignore the truth of God because we follow our hearts rather than trust in him.
Romans 1:8-17
Faith in Christ as our only hope for righteousness is the sum of the Christian life.
