171. Need vs. Should Pt. 2
Today G expands on this habit some of us fall into wherein we say we "should" do something but fail to actually get started, or do it, and then experience the waterfall of negative emotions that follow the act of letting ourselves down.  In episode 148. Need vs. Should, (part 1), Garrett helps us identify what a "need" truly is: something that is deeply, soulfully aligned for us, that created a full-body "yes" and a burning desire to act, with urgency! For example: I NEED to get up early to get that workout in.. and then we do it. Versus saying "I should lose weight" but doing nothing about it. In this episode we discuss how sometimes a "should" is something that could be aligned for you but that your limiting beliefs are keeping you from turning the "should" into "need." Listen to the episode teaching all about limiting beliefs, here. Check out episode 158, Ghosting Culture to learn more about how to be in integrity with yourself. 170. Masculine versus Feminine Energy
This episode explains what "masculine" energy is and what "feminine" energy is and how both exist within us. Most of this episode focuses on how these exist around us and in our world, via structure vs. content, business systems, vs.  flow. Understanding each of the energies can help us live a more balanced home life, work-life and personal inquiry If you're interested in learning about the rise and importance of feminine energy, this is for you, and how being in our feminine (for men and women) can be a powerful tool for manifestation, consciousness and awareness. ____________________ Episodes mentioned: 156. 169. A new way to set goals (for better results and expanded thinking!)
Should goals have timelines? Why or why not? Garrett shares a perspective on goals that many haven’t heard of, which she learned from the book, “Happy Pocket Full of Money.” She dives into the difference between goals vs. intentions and how setting. Goals without timelines helps us expand our minds and think bigger. To kick off the episode Garrett gives two stories and tips on how to navigate hard political topics right now, as not to spiritually bypass the heated political climate we find ourselves in today. The first 20 minutes are dedicated to understanding why politics are so triggering, and how to integrate our political shadows before conversing. Episodes mentioned, which you should check out! 163. Stories: why they serve and why they don't
As an author,  writing enthusiast and former college journalist,  story and the art of story has been the pulse of my being since age 5. Plus, stories are how we humans make sense of the world. However, this year during my own stillness practice (and thanks to my coach), I started understanding the negatives of stories-- especially the ones we repeatedly tell ourselves.  This episode unpacks how and why stories can be addictive and thus hold us back from possibility. 162. Thought Work & Thought Architecture
In order to unlock your destiny you have to build the scaffolding  capable of holding such manifestation. How do we build scaffolding? How do we manifest our desired destinies? It starts with thought, and physical sensation. We have the power to choose our thoughts, and to listen to our body when it talks. Today Garrett breaks down the 3 phases of thought work and thought architectures, gives examples and helps us understand why this stillness work matters. 1. Become the observer of your thoughts - you choose them, and sometimes we pattern certain thoughts based on recurring, addictive sensations 2. Start building the architecture with the thoughts you've chosen - this will be very challenging, and tough, take honest alignment and investigation, hence level 1. 3. Hold and Behold

160. Spiritual Alchemy with Michael Angelo
Alchemy Coach, Michael Angelo comes onto the show to teach us all about his work as a spiritual alchemist. This episode expands on "inner" work which we've been discussing at great length this season.  Like Garrett discussed in episode 156 on "what is true business coaching?" Michael takes us through a deep dive on how and WHY we can and should transform from the inside out. Michael takes us through the steps beginning at a rock bottom, all the way through how to stay grounded when carrying high vibe energy. You do not want to miss this one! Quote from the beginning of the episode, by Alan Watts: We seldom realize, for example that our most private thoughts and emotions are not actually our own. Christine has advised and/or coached leaders at Slack, Vanderbilt, LinkedIn, The Entourage, Radiology Partners, Verses, Alooma, Northwestern Mutual, Onsite, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Cloud9, Sixty, Ceremonial Grade, and many others. The arc of Christine’s career is defined by a fascination with the psychology of the human condition, and how elements of our mindset can be activated for massive personal growth and impact. Related to this, in recent years she has sharpened her understanding of the neurobiology of human change. Early in her career, she was named as one of ten Clinton Scholars to conduct research in the Middle East on conflict resolution and global interdependence. The range of skills she gained in cross-cultural communication, body language analysis, hostage negotiation, and foreign languages still come into play regularly in her work. As Senior Vice President of Veremonte, Christine helped build Formula E into an international success. In this position she learned the importance of bringing soulful, “big Why” conversations into the boardroom. Being part of a significant global deal flow exploring the future of mobility, she discovered through high-impact, multi-stakeholder negotiations how to remove obstacles, transcend differences, and launch forward with a united vision. Following divestment, Christine co-founded DAKIA to accelerate positive transformation in emerging markets. Projects spanned industries including tech, real estate, banking, mobility, clean energy, government, and entertainment. Christine believes that one day soon we will enjoy an economy where leaders and companies everywhere are functioning through lenses of presence, compassion, and fundamental kindness. As a result, how we experience and exercise business and wealth will catalyze the elevation of our shared humanity. 132. Conscious Presence + Time To Think (journalcast #9)
Excited to share some of my own contemplations today, in hopes of helping you turn more deeply inward than ever before. After reading "Time To Think" by Nancy Kline, and pairing the lesson with a lesson on presence from "Happy Pocket Full of Money" I've heard the lesson from the Universe... ... We are all experiencing stillness. We are uncomfortable because it is forcing us to confront ourselves and disrobe ourselves from our identities of our schedules. We can no longer be defined by our 12 p.m. lunch meetings and our 8 a.m. meetings. We are not our travel schedules, nor our social plans. We are not where we hangout. We are not who we hangout. We are ourselves, and we have to go re-establish who we are as individuals, without the embellishments we're used to wearing from our lifestyles. Today's episode will give you the tools to walk through this time of confronting yourself, and hence, answering the questions you know you should be asking yourself. 1. Be unrushed (this is an easy one, given the times) 2. Ask, "What else do you think?" to a friend, or yourself, to help solve the problem 3.  Focus in and become the most present you can possible be, the answer will rise to the surface of yourself. 4. Don't try to solve your friends' and families' questions. Instead, help them find their own answers by listening intently. Happy Pocket Full of Money Time to Think  #daretobestill

130. Monday Mindset - Embracing the stillness that seems forced
Right now we are all experiencing a stillness in our lives. It seems disruptive because no longer are we able  to live our lives as "calculated" as we often think we are living them.  Corona updates bring us to the present, every hour, and are helping us see that we truly don't know what lies ahead in the days before us... but what if we never did?   What if we've been living our lives this whole time on a narrow line we walk because we think we've planned everything perfectly? But, now, as we ditch the perfectly planned futures, we have the ability to access SO MUCH MORE. Now, we have infinite "hows" to get to our goals, should we choose to use this time of stillness to access them via creativity, turning inward and embracing the stillness. Enjoy! #daretomove G

98. "The Man" with Jeff Kusmierz
Garrett sits down with her fiancé Jeff at the cabin to discuss some MAJOR life updates (she quit her job), some exciting new endeavors, talk about organic meat and most importantly, the two explore what it means to be "the man." The idea of what it means to be "the man" came up recently when Garrett was telling friend and future podcast guest Diana Sanchez about a recent time when she and Jeff hung out with her ex. Dee proceeded to say, "Jeff is THE MAN." And, Garrett has felt his way before. So, Jeff and Garrett unpack masculinity, the idea of being "the man" and why they have these ideas about masculinity. Much of the conversation encircles this new phase of Garrett's life: discovery. Garrett is eager to explore all that will come with her new "alignment coach," Christine. Jeff shares his recent deer harvest story and summarizes this year's elk-hunting trip. He also talks about what being a man means to him and he shares when he first felt like a man. Garrett interviews Mike Grillo of Gravity Blankets.  Gravity Blankets are weighted blankets that help you fall into a deeper sleep, they reduce anxiety and promote relaxation, and thus, wellness. Garrett and Mike cover many topics, but much of the discussion centers around the direct-to-consumer model, which is how Gravity Blankets began, after launching on Kickstarter. Mike is somewhat of a renegade in that he rejects the idea that DTC is a successful, sustainable business model. In this episode, he explains why he thinks an omni-channel approach is best, and explains how Gravity Blankets has demonstrated that. We center the discussion also around the idea of risk, and its necessity in business. The quote, by Erica Jong is, "If you don't take any risks, you risk even more." Why you'll like this episode: Learn how Mike became the CEO and how his background helps him with everything he does today. Enjoy his candid discussion about exit plans. REPLAY of Episode 63: “The Outside Groove” with Racecar Driver Kristian Aleixo
Quote:  “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs, as yourself what makes you come alive, because what the world needs are more people who have come alive.” - Wild At Heart, by John Eldredge   Garrett met Kristian at the grand opening of Big ‘O Tires in Whitestown, IN. He briefly told her the cliffnotes’ version of his life story, which he told in his recent memoir. “I was homeless in high school, did two tours in Iraq, and now I’m pursuing the Indy 500. I’m a racecar driver.” Garrett was shocked, and asked him to come onto the podcast. Before the interview Kristian sent her a copy of his book, “My life story: The Outside Groove,” which he co-wrote with Braxton Cosby.   Garrett read it cover to cover and had SO.MANY. QUESTIONS for him. You get to hear them talk about everything from NOT COMPLAINING NOR GIVING UP to the War in Iraq, to writing to healing relationships with parents.  Book Synopsis:  You Wanna Ride On the Edge? Kristian Aleixo lived the typical life of any young boy who dreamed to one day make it to the big leagues. For Kristian, the occupational hazard of racing brought more near death experiences than his tour of Iraq. But despite the many hardships and challenges he endured to make it to the top, Kristian never fainted or shied away from the thrill of strapping himself to the wheel of a hot-rod, laced with the expectation of taking home the checkered flag. His vision of success parallels that of great racers before him, who no doubt ground out the same pattern of success and failures on their way to the top. The Outside Groove is the autobiographical story that details Kristian's life from the bowels of LeHigh Valley General, where a near death accident almost claimed his life, to the war torn cities of the middle-east. The Outside Groove is the third book in the autobiographical Bestselling My Life In Story series penned by award-winning author Braxton Cosby, that follows the lives of interesting people and their amazing stories of sacrifice and dedication on the road to success.  Buy the book:  Connect with Kristian:  Instagram: @KRISTIANALEIXO  TWITTER: @KRISTHEBULLET  FACEBOOK:  Email Garrett:
