Today on Verses Every New Believer Should Know we are jumping into 1 John 1:9, and we might even go a little further. Pull out your ESV and join us as we see what God has to say about our problem with sin.

As we are coming to the end of season 3 of A&D Dave and I sat down to talk about the surprises, challenges, and benefits of the interviews we have done this season with MD area pastors.

We are our own entertainment, and we hope that this is encouraging and entertaining for you as well.

We are in Matthew 6:33 today to look at this often misunderstood and mis-applied promise as we continue in our mini-series of God's Promises.

Here in season 3 of Anchored and Devoted we have been doing a series we've called, "Verses every new christian should know." each Monday. Our purpose in doing these is to help you be equipped for the life of faithful obedience to God that you have been called and empowered to through the Holy Spirit.

Today's passage comes with a tremendous promise and also a huge challenge. Are we up for it?

We are continuing in our mini-series on God's Promises today in Proverbs 3:5-6 where God promises to make our paths straight. And like in last's weeks episode, this one comes with a growth point for us: Trust.

It is often hard to follow God. He is invisible, and we can't touch him, or hear the sound of His voice. Trusting a God who we can't see, heart or touch is hard, and so following Him is heard, especially when the road in front of us is uncertain and crooked and rutted. Yet, He is a faithful and powerful God who loves His children and even in the pitch of dark guides their every step.

Happy Friday!!! Today we have a hot mic situation. Pastor Dave and I were getting ready to record a Monday episode of Verses Every New Believer Should Know when we, as we often do, started talking about the various things we were thinking about. We happened to already be recording, and we decided to share this conversation with you. It's a real discussion we are having off the top of our heads. In fact, we only decided to make this an episode after we got to the end of the discussion. I put an "episode ending" on it so that we could, and that was the first indication to either of us that we would use that recording.

We are continuing with our mini-dive into Scriptures that Every New Christian Should Know with a new focus on God's Promises. Today's promise: Pease. But wait... there's more.

We are going to jump into John 16:33 where Jesus is praying for His disciples that they might have pease in the midst of their tribulation. Come along with us as we stretch out under the prayer from our Heavenly Older Brother.

We're wrapping up our mini dive into worship with today's episode. When you think about worship you may have a particular picture in mind. But do you think about imitation as being worship? In 1 Peter 3:8-12 this is exactly what we find. The encouragement and direction given to us in this passage is to walk like Jesus and thereby show how wonderful He truly is.

What makes Christianity different than any other religion? In a word, Jesus. So, what makes Jesus different than every other religious leader in the world? Well, that's what we are going to look at today as we continue with verses every new Christian should know. We will be back in Revelation 5:9 - 12 and we will see that when we enter into worship it is before an audience of One. One who alone is worthy, who alone was able to live with man. Who alone was able to redeem man. And, who alone has crowned man with eternal life. Come check it out with us now.

Worship is a team ... thing. Today we are in Revelation Chapter 4 verses 4 - 11 to look at the vision that the Apostle John has of the worship that is poured out to God by all of His creation in concert with one another. When we pray and when we worship we enter into a eternal and universal event where God and His majesty are the centeral event. This is so much more than Sunday morning singing

for the new and the well seasoned believer.

We are sticking with the Apostle John today, but we are heading back to the book of Revelation for this episode of verses every Christian should know. Have you ever wondered what worship in Heaven is, or will be like? We are going to kick this around a bit while we think through the reality that all true worship is a part of an eternal worship service at the throne of God.

Today we continue in verses every new Christian should know and we are looking at 1 John 5:11- 13. We are going to consider the simplicity of the two part test that John offers as an encouragement to believers who find themselves asking, "Am I really saved?" Most Christians will wrestle with this question at numerous times through their life. That wrestling is at best uncomfortable, and often very destabalizgin. John is here to help. Come and find out what he has to say to us.

We are continuing through verses every new Christian should know. Today we are looking at one of Pastor Jeremy's all-time favorites. Look with us at what St. Paul says to his young disciple Timothy as St. Paul knows that his own life is shortly going to be ended in Rome.

True love is strong love. It is able to hold on even through the roughest experiences. St. Paul tells

us in Romans 8:38-39 that our security is not dependent on our love for God, but on His unfailing, overwhelming, unstoppable love for us. Rest with us today as we slide into these verses.

HEBREW 4:12 is an amazing passage which sets the table for us to come to know God for who He truly is. Come and tremble with us as we look into the word today.

This morning open up to Psalm 119:11 as we continue chewing on how to think about God's Word. We are almost through a mini series inside of this minisieres taking a close look at how God speaks to us, and how we can listen on purpose.

Pastor Dave and Pastor Jeremy are on vacation this week. So, instead of putting up the next MD area pastor interview, we are going into the way-back machine to pull out a season 1 favorite on what to look for in a healthy church.
