DEFINITION: the established set of attitudes held by someone. a mental attitude or inclination : a fixed state of mind
ETYMOLOGY: also mind-set, "habits of mind formed by previous experience," 1916, in educators' and psychologists'
ACTION IDEA: What kind of mindset do you have? Growth or Fixed?
A growth mindset, proposed by Stanford professor Carol Dweck in her book Mindset, describes people who believe that their success depends on time and effort. People with a growth mindset feel their skills and intelligence can be improved with effort and persistence. They embrace challenges, persist through obstacles, learn from criticism and seek out inspiration in others’ success. Those who hold a growth mindset believe that they can get better at something by dedication of time, effort and energy. Working on one’s flaws, and the process—not the outcome—are the most important components. With time and practice, people with a growth mindset believe they can achieve what they want.
The opposite of a growth mindset is a fixed mindset.

How to Change (The Truth About Your Situation)
You know you really can't go wrong with the road sign analogy. Road signs alert you to what's coming; to what's ahead; to what's in store. Life has signs and so does success. The challenge is that they are more subtle. They also require you to be paying attention to your surroundings. If not, you will miss them...
"Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it." -Ferris Bueler
QUESTION: Where are you on the road of life? Do you have everything you want? Have you accomplished everything you want to accomplish in this life? Are your days purpose driven and focused or are they random and uncertain? There are 24 hours in the day. Assuming 8 hours of sleep, what's going with the other 16? How is that time filled? If nature abhors a vacuum and the time is there, it will get filled in with something. But what? What's going in there?

Ever wonder if there was a “secret trick” to increasing your sales? Well there is. One of the first lessons I learned from Grant was “selling is a conversation, and power comes from the words that you use.” Words in sales matter. Big time. Sales Prospecting During COVID-19
If you've read If You're Not First You're Last, then you already know that personal visits are the single most powerful method by which you will ever make contact with a client and are guaranteed to advance your position in the marketplace.
But right now, everyone is in lockdown and normal social interactions are hard to come by.
No longer can you just pop into a local business and make a personal visit.
That’s why this month you need to make your #1 prospecting activity that little tool you carry in your pocket—your phone!
Grant's said in the past it would take 10 phone calls to equal the outcome of one personal visit. Well, that still holds true, but with personal visits out the window right now, you need to be making 10X the number of phone calls!
But what do you say on the phone?

And before we go any further, let's take a moment to really understand the definition of wealthy. First off, it's a adjective. It's a description of someone. According to Webster's it means having wealth, very affluent, characterized by abundance, ample. No use of the words rich or money. So what is wealth then?

Have you ever seen someone who’s confidence seemed unbreakable? Have you ever looked at someone who exudes confidence and wondered how they built that indestructible confidence?
When you think about the new salesperson, someone who’s just starting out, especially if there is not training and the poor new person is basically thrown to the wolves.
My first sales job was selling circus tickets over the phone in 1994. I was given a copy of the white pages, a rotary dial phone, a pen and a stack of order forms. Training consisted of, “start with the letter L. We did J and K yesterday.”
Literally, I had no idea what I was doing, new nothing about the show and made zero money. I made it about 90 minutes before quitting. What was the main problem for me there. Lack of confidence in sales. And this lack of confidence in sales followed me to other sales jobs. I got better, but not even remotely close to killing it. Have you ever been there?

PLAN: The Wednesday Word #WednesdayWisdom
My name is David Bradley, Senior sales and marketing manager with Grant Cardone. Now what do we do on the Wednesday word we take ordinary words words that we use everyday words that we probably are taking for granted and we look at them, we understand the definition of them. We understand the history of them, where did they came from? And how are you using this word in your life right now? And what are some ways that you may be, taking it for granted
This week, what's the word? This week's word is plan? Right. So there's a lot of different ways this word gets used "the best laid plans Of Mice and Men" "If you fail to plan you're planning to fail."
What other colloquialisms and sayings Can you come up with about the word plan?
In Grant Cardone's book, Sell Or Be Sold, Grant teaches us that "problems are opportunities." And right now, we are working with a big fat problem. And that means if we have a big fat problem, we also have a big fat opportunity.
This means you and I have this opportunity together. We can use COVID or be used by it. As with everything. Grant has been saying this for years and now is the time to implement.

Is This You In 10 Years?
Here’s something to consider today… if anyone says to you that such and such thing is more than 10 years away, what they’re really saying is they don’t even know if that thing is possible.
Long term goals and targets are important but anything over ten years might be too challenging for your brain to comprehend and put real attention on.
For example, “Flying cars are still more than 10 years away.”
Translation: Flying cars may never happen.
Are any of your dreams are more than 10 years out? Would you consider that what you’re actually saying is that you really don’t know if it’s possible?

hopelessness: a feeling or state of despair; lack of hope.
One way to get yourself out of hopelessness is to increase your urgency and necessity. For instance, if your life depended on getting a sale today, you would get a sale, regardless of the economy. Take a cue from children; they continue to focus on getting what they want despite any “recession.” Children will relentlessly pitch as though their lives depend on it and usually until they close the “deal.” But how and why are they able to do that?
Because they pay more attention to the outcome than the problem.
This means you're going to have to remember how to do that. You knew how to do it once, now it's time to remember and implement. It's time to adopt a winning belief system.

AMBITION: The Wednesday Word #WednesdayWisdom
This week’s word is ambition or ambitious, we’re going to do both. Now I’m going to ask you a series of questions and I want you to put some quality thought into the questions I’m about to ask and why this is important.
Who do you know, that is ambitious? Now, who can you think of, whether that’s in your existing life or somebody in the Twitter sphere or the global sphere? Who Can you think of? Who do you know that you would consider to be ambitious? Or to have ambition? Who do you know for you?
What does it mean? Like literally what does it mean? To you, ambition, or to be ambitious, what does it mean? What kind of feelings does that word stimulate in you? What does that word mean to you? Because let’s face it, right? For some folks ambition may have some negative connotations. It could be positive, right? Or it could be negative, but what does it mean to you?
Grant Cardone has been preparing for an economic correction for sometime now and has been very verbal about it. If you’ve been following him for any amount of time, especially as long as I have, you already know this to be true.
In Grant’s latest Strategy of the Week, we look at what to invest in after COVID-19 / the Coronavirus has past. One of the key messages for me from this strategy, which is incredibly uplifting, is that this will pass. This is a tremendous opportunity for you to look at history and see how events like these shape the future and most importantly pass. This is not a forever thing. As a species we are incredibly resilient and we were designed to adapt and overcome. Remember, the #1 thing to invest at any time, not just in after COVID-19, is you.
You need to be skilled up and educated to come out of this on top. We’re all going to get through it. The question is, who will you be on the other side?
Grant’s been saying for years to avoid investing in businesses and industries that are based on discretionary spending and instead invest only in instruments that are… FULL TEXT: https://cardonesolutions.com/what-to-invest-in-after-covid-19/

Let’s do the definition real fast, right? Let’s just get that part covered. Meaning: having life. I want to do the verb version of the word. Living means “having life.” Also, “the condition of being alive.”
Now, when we look at the etymology, the history, we show origins, meaning action, the doing, which goes back to the condition of being alive, living. The action of living, it’s an action, it’s something that you do, a process.
And then method of gaining one’s livelihood. So that’s another meaning of living like, “Hey, what do you do for a living?” How do you you know? What is your method of gaining livelihood, meaning money?
So here’s what I want to do…
First question, if the definition is and (when you look it up), the first thing you see is having life.

Sales Objections: Handling Just Looking
Millions of people every single day are saying, “I’m just looking.” Causing retailers to lose a ton of revenue because nobody knows how to respond to this.
Most small businesses will just say, “OK, let me know if you have any questions”, and then wonder why they never make a sale from this customer.
The thing is, EVERYBODY does this. Imagine you, walking into a store with the full intention to make a purchase a gift for your spouse. A salesperson quickly approaches and you before you even know what’s happening quickly and mindlessly spout, “I’m just looking,” and wave them off....

What beliefs do you have about abundance in your life right now? Good or bad?
ABUNDANCE: The Wednesday Word #WednesdayWisdom
an ample quantity,
a relative degree of plenty fullness.
This week's Wednesday word is abundance.
It originated from Old French, and then directly from Latin, meaning fullness and plenty. Also, to overflow so when you hear that word abound, it's totally connected to abundance to overflow.
And as always, what does Uncle G, Grant Cardone have to say about abundance from his book Sell Or Be Sold [get your copy: https://amzn.to/2U88RTS ] under the chapter called Your Buyers Money. He says this...
What if there was another pandemic looming over the globe and threatening your security on every level? Now if you had enough fair warning to prepare for and inoculate yourself, you’d want to do that right?
Grant Cardone’s Strategy of the Week, exposes a condition far worse, more contagious and significantly more dangerous than the Coronavirus.

On a cold call, has anyone ever told you they're not interested? What about in a retail setting? If you're in retail, you're probably hearing "just looking." It's basically the same thing. And if you're not hearing this multiple times a day, it could be an indicator that you're not taking enough action.
So, if you're hearing it everyday, how do you handle "not interested" when you hear it? Because if you don't have a plan and a set response those two little words can stop you dead in your tracks.
Why do you think so many people struggle with selling?

What do your salespeople need to be successful?
The answers help me understand what’s important to them as a leader and also what they need from us in order to get what they expect, provide what is needed and deliver the correct training and motivation.
But let’s make this about you for a moment.
You’re in sales. What do you expect from yourself? What do you need to be successful? If you’re not seeing the results you want but the effort is there, maybe you’re not getting your needs met. Maybe your expectations are out. If the production isn’t there it usually can be traced back to a motivation or skill issue. So let’s look at what a salesperson needs to be successful.
[Attn managers: make sure your people are getting these needs met]
To be successful in sales you need these six things

The Real Reason Grant Cardone moved to Miami?
What’s the REAL reason Grant Cardone moved to Miami? We are going to address that one right here and right now.
A lot of people ask that question. And there are also a lot of opinions attached to it as well. What’s most important about exploring the truth of this matter though is what can we learn from Grant about right actions to take in terms of creating success and prosperity in our lives.
This is what Grant is addressing in his latest Strategy of the Week.

Grant had to do a lot of work to get his mind right. In fact everyone who’s ever created a large amount of success had to do a lot of work to get their mind right. When Grant was a kid, scarcity was all around him. He was told to be happy with what I had, that we were better off than so many others. Both his mom and dad thought the same way.
Thinking like they did would have never given Grant the life that he has today. Now he can help many more people than he could if he’d have adopted his parent’s mindset.
When you think small, you focus and worry about YOUR problems...
You ever known a salesman with an ego bigger than their closing ratio?
Be honest now, have you ever lost a deal because your ego got in the way? I think we all have! How about this? Have you ever missed a deal and then intentionally found someone else or some other condition to blame?
That is a false sense of your ability level – that is the ego that we’re talking about. A sales person that thinks he knows, but doesn’t really know, so blames failures on other conditions.
A professional salesperson that fully accepts responsibility and understands there is always more to learn, knows there are things he/she doesn’t know that may be blocking them from the next level of sales production.

Let me ask you a question: how will you know when you’re wealthy?
Maybe you might already be wealthy and not even know it?
This week’s Wednesday word is wealthy. So what I want to do is drop the “Y” for a second and talk about the word wealth. Then we’ll come back to wealthy and then we’re gonna get into the why…
Let’s look at 10 quick ways to advance your economy. Here at 10 things, Grant says, you can do to make more money. If you need to make more for whatever reason, what can you do about it?
Remember in the 10X Rule, Grant talks about the four degrees of action. Doing nothing or retreating is not going to get you more money. And just doing what you’ve always done will not improve your situation either.
This means it’s go massive time...
10X Tips for Executive Recruiters
Talking with Jonathan O’Brien, an Executive Recruiter and how Jonathan has applied the 10X Rule to being an Executive Recruiter
1. Grant Cardone says that the difference between and contact and a contract is the letter R. R = relationship - How important is the relationship as an executive recruiter and what ahas been your most successful action as an executive recruiter at building and maintaining relationships.
2. In The 10X Rule Grant talks about The 4 Degrees of Action. How has this concept helped you build your pipeline?
3. How important is confidence when handling gatekeepers?
4. When we talked last you said, "no 'B' calls - only 'A' calls, can you talk a little more on that?
5. Grant also advises biz pros to do what the competition refuses to do. If you were advising a starting Exec Recruiter, what could they do (that the competition doesn't) that would give them an immediate leg up in the marketplace?

This week’s word is never. Last week’s word was always, so this week what we’re gonna do is look at the exact opposite of always and we’re going to talk about NEVER.
I got the definition of the word never right here, so let’s just read this off real fast.
not ever; at no time; not in any degree; not under any condition.
What does chicken care have to do with retirement?
Did you know that the word chicken is also a slang term for cash-money? It is fairly interchangeable with “Dough”, “Bread”, “Moolah”, or “Iron” and it is usually referring to dollars on one’s person, or cash-on-hand.
I have to admit, I’ve never heard that term before and I’m curious to see what’s going to happen from an SEO standpoint!!! But once you get it, you know, how DO you care for your chicken?
Real Investments for Retirement...
There are 7 reasons you aren’t rich… YET! Yet being the key word. It is never too late to get your money right. Never. Google is full of success stories from people of all ages who got rich. Now before I list these off, here’s what I want you to do. Take a moment and ask yourself a couple quick questions.
Am I rich?
If not, how will I know when I am?
If your money isn’t what you want it to be, Grant has 7 key reason why. Take some real time with each of these. Look for places of agreement and attraction. Meaning if you have any agreement with any of these 7 reasons, it’s a really good chance that you're attracting this reality into your life.
Have you ever said any of the following?
This always happens to me
I’m always late
You always do that
Ever said anything like that? Any of these sound familiar? When you said it, were you right about it? I mean when you really stop and think about it, does he always do that? Are you always late? Does this always happen to you? Probably not… Maybe in your mind it always does. Why?
History. You want to know it so you can duplicate what works and that you don’t repeat what doesn’t. That would be your history and the history of others.
Grant Cardone’s latest Strategy of the Week opens with this…
“Let’s dive into history again this week and find out what made Mark Twain a terrible businessman and investor even though he was a brilliant writer.”

The game should be about shifting the scales from you working for money to money working for you. The following list are 8 ways to totally screw that up.
What we’ll do in this exercise is list off all 8 common money mistakes, identify if we’re making them now and then I’ll challenge and encourage you to start finding a better way.

Let’s be honest for a moment, use your internal truth detector, have you quit on something recently or not seen one of your goals through? Well, you’re not alone.
But allow us to remind you how important it is to stay persistent...
Grant’s strategy looks at what it takes to become successful and consequently create your best life. Create your 2030. Remember, whatever happens, for better or worse, it will happen because of you. So here are 6 key mindsets and attitudes with measurable actions you need to take in order to cause and create your best life.

What can you do that is simple and measurable that will help you make sure that you launch into 2020? What are the habits you need to develop in order to reach your goals in 2020 and beyond?
There are 3 things Uncle G does that you can do too. In fact, Grant has been doing these two things for most of his adult life and it’s an incredibly safe bet to say that this two habits have been two integral and contributing factors to his success.
If you use the phone the way Grant Cardone does, you know how vital it is to grow your business and if you sell on the phone, the three most important things for you will be your attitude, your approach and your level of action.
Keeping your head on right will be the most important thing. The other thing you must do is check your ego at the door. There are three mindsets that you must drill down and incorporate into your thinking and have the highest level of certainty on. Let's be honest, the only reasons you have to hate the phone and cold calling is either you're not properly motivated or you just lack the skill.
Motivation runs out. It's like gas in the car. You must keep that tank full. Skill is something that also runs out and fades fast. Everyday, most likely multiple times a day, you need to reset your motivation and skill buttons or pay the price. Technically, there's a price either way. Discipline has a price. Crapping out has a price.

Success is not an option for me but something I insist! Success is not something others can give to me, that the government or the economy can provide me. I refuse to quit prior to My Success and I will do everything ethical in claiming my right to My Success. My Success is My Duty, My Obligation and My Responsibility."
The Mandela Effect Meaning and Your Money
What is The Mandela Effect? Better yet, what is The Mandela Effect meaning and how does it relate to your money? This is the topic Grant Cardone is digging into in his latest Strategy of the Week.

In the latest Grant Cardone Strategy of the Week, Grant asks us, “what are your false barriers?” Start thinking with this now. What do you believe are barriers in your life that you know are false?
Since 1954, anytime you wanted to site an example of what happens when one person does the seemingly impossible and breaks the “unbreakable” barrier, most people would reference Roger Banister.
In 1954, Banister became the first person to run 1 mile in under 4 minutes. Prior to this the general consensus was that a sub 4 minute mile was impossible but Banister got it handled in 3:59 seconds. In 1999, Hicham El Guerrouj did it in 3:43.13. This is the current world record.
What’s the lesson?
You get one shot at 2020
Time is relentless. You’re only getting 365 days to make 2020 the best year of your life.
As the saying goes, “use it or lose it.” Use your time to create your dreams. Right now is the time to move toward your goals. Have you given up on your goals and dreams? Have you ever seen someone who is less talented than you pass you by? How did THAT feel?
We need to use the time we have because with each passing day that you don’t invest in you, the chances of YOU getting left behind increase.
Others will be becoming millionaires in 2020.
Others will be learning sales, business, and marketing hacks that will take their incomes to different stratospheres.
Why NOT you?
Why not anyone? The truth is, the average person isn’t going to go through all the trouble it takes to get rich. They’ll keep doing the same things they’re doing now, because it’s comfortable and it’s easy and in about 3-5 years they might consider investing in themselves because hopefully they’re starting to realize they’re going nowhere.
Is this you right now? Stop waiting like everyone else.
We have found that there are two main causes of staying average when you know you have the potential to be GREAT. And no, lazy is not one of them. No one is lazy. Their focus maybe off or their priorities are out of alignment with their true purpose but trust me, no one is lazy.
First one, you know what what want but you don’t know how to get it.
Second, you’re good enough where you’re at and not willing to pay the price to get to your next level.
Both of these can, if you allow them to, stop you dead in your tracks. And that’s the key thing here. Are you going to allow what you don’t know to stop you? Are you going to eventually wind up trading comfort for regret?
It doesn’t have to go down like that!
You need a support network, you need information and you need knowledge. Who’s on your team right now? Where do you get your information? What’s the difference between information and knowledge?

Preventing ups and downs in sales
Have you ever seen a salesperson have a great month followed by a bad month? Why do you think so many people think sales is a feast or famine kind of gig? Does your sales career look more like a new design for a roller coaster? Looking at your own career, have you given up on consistent improvement or are you frustrated with just trying to maintain some level of real consistency in your sales or business?
Why is this happening? When it comes to preventing ups and downs in sales, are there things you can do to prevent that? What can Dr Seuss, The Grinch and the good people of Whoville teach us about preventing ups and downs in sales?

Let’s quickly take a look at 5 mistakes you don’t want to make in the world of sales and business. If you’re a manager or business owner, take a moment on each one and see how these mistakes may be impacting your revenue. Do the math on this so you’ll be motivated to make the appropriate adjustments from the top.
1. In a sales meeting, ask your salespeople what their sales process is. If they say, “it depends” or have to really think about it to answer, it means they’re winging it. CLICK HERE for a free training session with Grant on the sales process.
2. Practice. In a sales meeting or training session, practice asking AND getting real answers to questions. Start with a simple question like, “where would you like to go for lunch?” Then progress to a fact finding question, “what’s most important to you in your next widget?” Then get into a closing question like, “How do you feel about the pricing?” Practice getting answers to questions!
