Worship Ministry Catalyst Podcast, Episode 230: The Senior Pastor/Worship Leader Relationship
Perhaps the most important relationship in many churches is the one that exists between the worship leader and the senior pastor. And yet, often times it's one of the most difficult. Today, myself and Joe are joined by Dan Thompson as we talk about some of the ways worship team members do their pastor and worship leaders a disservice. We also talk directly to senior pastors and some of the responsibilities they have in protecting and supporting their worship teams. And of course, as usual, other things come up along the way too.
WMC, 229: Christi Stills, Worship Ministry as a Pianist and Her Journey as a Composer.
Worship ministry has changed drastically over the last 25 years, and for pianists, that change hasn't always been easy. Today, we hear from Christi Stills who has been a pianist in a traditional, piano and organ worship ministry and has also spent the last 10 years playing with a worship band.
Christi also shares with us about her journey as a composer, her success at getting her music out on Spotify, including one song, Lavender Fog, which has more than half a million plays. Christi can be found on Spotify at Christi Stills, as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
WMC, 228 Preparing Worship Ministry For The Post-Covid Summer Ahead
A lot of people are speculating about what summer 2021 is going to look like for the church. I think it's safe to say we should anticipate people taking a lot of time to rest and recuperate over the next few months. In fact, it might be what's needed. Still, we'll have services to plan and lead, when people may not be available, we might even be gone. How are we going to thoughtfully lead worship this summer?
Worship Ministry Catalyst Podcast 227: Spiritual Preparation For Leading Worship, Taize, Promises & The Blessing
As worship leaders we tend to spend the vast amount of our time on musical preparation and leave the spiritual preparation for leading worship until the last minute. We hope that God will "show up" in our corporate worship without having spent time in with Him personally. Today, David & Joe talk about some of the practical things we need to be doing in our personal walk with God to be ready to lead our congregations every Sunday. We also talk about some new worship songs like "Promises" by Maverick City, "The Blessing" by Kari Jobe and "Battle Belongs" by Phil Wickham.
Building Healthy Worship Teams Post Covid, Alex Enfiedjian, Worship Ministry Training (WMC-226)
Are you working to rebuild your team after the pandemic? Have you had to deal with someone on the team who is bringing everyone down? How do we build healthy teams?
Also in this episode we talk about the importance of developing our leadership skills along with our musical skills.
Today, we are joined by Alex Enfiedjian of Worship Ministry Training to share a little bit with us about building healthy teams in worship ministry. This is a conversation you don't want to miss as you're working to rebuild your worship teams post-Covid. And make sure to check out Alex's podcast (Worship Ministry Training) and website with a lot of resources: https://www.worshipministrytraining.com/
WMC, 225: Learning From Our Mistakes and Dealing With The Loss of Mentorship in Worship
You know that time you really messed up the song in the service? Or the time you forgot to put on your capo, or you went to start a track and it was on the wrong song, or you weren't on the right Main Stage patch? Yeah, me neither. Okay. Maybe that happened this Sunday. But how do we handle the mistakes?
We also talk about the catastrophic loss of mentorship in too many churches across the country and what we can do to change it in our church.
WMC, 224: Branon Dempsey of Worship Team Training
Looking for some good training tools to train your worship team and worship leaders? We'd love to introduce you to Branon Dempsey or Worship Team Training and Worship Team Training University!
WMC 223: Catching up with Joe, David's Peaceful Piano Hymns Album & New Fangled Techology

Since we got distracted last time when we intended to talk about distractions, we're going to talk about distractions today.

Episode 208 – When To Reopen?
How do we handle the discussion about when to reopen our churches after the Covid-19 Crisis? It’s proving to be a very polarizing discussion for some, so how do we retain unity in the body of Christ while making the best decision for the mission of the church?

WMC Podcast, #196: Paul Baloche, Part 1 – Worship Leading
Over the 10 years of this podcast we have often spoken of our admiration for Paul Baloche. In our opinion he is the cream of the crop when it comes to worship leaders and worship songwriters. You would be hard pressed to find a worship songwriter who has had more of an impact on modern worship than this guy.
In part 1 of our 2 part interview with Paul, we talk about worship leading and Paul shares with us some very practical and useful insight when it comes to leading worship. It’s going to be well worth your time to listen in to this episode!

WMC Podcast, #197: Paul Baloche, Part 2 – Worship Songwriting
WMC Podcast, Episode #195: What do you do when your church wants to meet a justice need, but the neighborhood doesn’t support you?
One of the harshest criticisms against the church has been that we don’t do enough to take care of the hurting and the poor. I’ve heard it many times. I’ve probably even said it many times. But, what happens when your church wants to step into that gap and help meet a justice need, but you’re met with disdain from the neighbors surrounding your church?
How have your neighbors responded to your justice ministries in your church?

WMC Podcast, Episode #194: Why Do We Change In Ministry? What Changes Should We Be Making Now?
WMC Podcast, Episode #0193: Keith Getty
Keith and Kristyn Getty occupy a unique space in the world of music today as preeminent modern hymn writers. In re-inventing the traditional hymn form, they have created a catalogue of songs teaching Christian doctrine and crossing the genres of traditional, classical, folk and contemporary composition which are sung the world over.
The Gettys’ hymns are used increasingly both in contemporary and traditional circles, being included in most modern hymnbooks (with a number of these now listing “Getty” as the most-featured composers), while in the more contemporary church, more than 60 of their songs are featured on top 2,000 CCLI charts between the UK and USA.

WMC Podcast, Episode #0192: Lancelot Schaubert, Making A Jesus Culture
Lancelot Schaubert is the husband of Tara Schaubert, the grooviest girl on Earth. He has sold his written work to markets like The New Haven Review, McSweeney’s, The Poet’s Market, Writer’s Digest (magazine and books), The World Series Edition of Poker Pro, Encounter, The Misty Review, Carnival, Brink, and many other similar markets. He reinvented the photonovel through Cold Brewed and was commissioned by the Missouri Tourism Board to create a second photonovel — The Joplin Undercurrent — that both fictionalizes and enchants the history and culture of Joplin, Missouri.
His work terraforms new worlds, tears the veil between the natural and supernatural, and jests with the paradoxes of classical metaphysics. When he’s not writing (or tinkering with cinema-ish narrative), he’s dabbling in dozens of different books, listening to people tell their life stories, camping, fishing, exploring unfamiliar territory (there’s a lot in New York), tinkering with new languages (Spanish, currently), exploring random disciplines like chemical engineering, as well as messing around with improv comedy and leisure de main and music.

Emily grew up as the itinerant daughter of an army chaplain, then studied music composition at the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 2014. WMC Podcast, Episode #0185: Sara Joseph, Christian Artist Resource
So many of us have the desire to be discovered and noted for our work as Christians artists. It’s something I’ve desired and wanted as well. But, the question we need to wrestle with is why are we doing what we do? Is it for our own attention or is it for God’s glory? Are we willing to work at this calling in anonymity, even if we never get “discovered”?
Those, and other great questions are what we talk about in this episode of the Worship Ministry Catalyst Podcast. We invite you to listen in to our interview with Sara Joseph!

WMC Podcast, #181 – Kevin Twit, Indelible Grace
In today’s episode, we had the incredible privilege of having a conversation (that was far too short!) with Kevin Twit of Indelible Grace. In this conversation we cover a lot of ground about what he and others have done with indelible grace as well as a great conversation about the content of current worship music. This is a conversation I’m sure many of you will enjoy and want to share with others you know!
Rev. Kevin Twit was born in 1964 and is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and Covenant Theological Seminary. He worked in the music industry for several years both as a guitarist and recording engineer. He served as a Pastor at Christ Community Church for 8 years, and has been the RUF Campus Minister at Belmont University since 1995. In 1999 Kevin began Indelible Grace Music with some of his students. Indelible Grace has been at the heart of the movement to reset old hymn texts to new music and they have recorded 8 CDs as well as a documentary film, “Roots And Wings: The Story Of Indelible Grace And The RUF Hymns.” Kevin is married to Wendy and they have 3 children, including a daughter they adopted from China in 2005. Kevin is also an adjunct Professor at Covenant Seminary and Belmont University teaching classes in hymnody and has lectured widely on topics of hymns and worship. He enjoys composing hymn tunes, disc golf, and German board games.
