Ex Tongan gang member sentenced to life at 16 | Petani Faavae
Petani shares his inspirational story of redemption. After a hard upbringing on Panama Road, he found himself escaping is harsh upbringing by joining the local street gang. At the age of 16 he was sentenced to life in prison for murder, not long after that he was also charged with a murder behind bars. After years behind bars he realised things needed to change and had an encounter with God. He started opening up and participating in treatment programmes. After being granted parole after almost 14 years. he has now been out of prison for 4 years and co directs One Eighty Turn charitable trust. After his father died in a bar fight, his life spiralled out of control eventually landing in prison at 23 with a 12 years prison sentence.
After being deported he changed his life for the better and became a born again christian, he is now a youth worker employed with the grace foundation.

Family violence conference - Safe man Safe family
This weekend I attended a family violence conference with over 150 men from around New Zealand. Phil Paikea, Vic Tamati and the safe man safe family team are an organisation that travels New Zealand spreading hope and awareness about family and sexual violence.

Abuse in Marae - Dirty tohunga (healers)
Brenda shares her story of surviving a Maori "self-improvement programme" endorsed by Te Unga Waka marae in Auckland. The programme is run by social workers who claim to be "tohunga." The Maori equivalent to a healer or witch doctor.
After being abused and treated like a slave by the tohunga she escaped and now wants to help those still being abused.

Kimi from Pukekohe, south Auckland shares her story of redemption. After years of abuse, gangs and drug addiction, she was eventually sent to prison for a range of crimes. She is now out and doing her best to give back and help others heal. After a drug house robbery gone wrong, Dean found himself at the age of 14 sitting inside Long Bay prison in New South Whales. He grew up on the tough streets of inner city Sydney, and had already spent a lot of time in boys homes. Neke "Snakey" Wirihana shares his story of redemption. He moved to Australia with his family as a youth to escape the gangs in his native Hawkes Bay. In 2014 Neke was the youngest Hells Angels to receive his patch in the world. In 2016 he was deported to New Zealand after serving his last prison sentence. He is now a christian, and involved with Te ao Maori, and is keen to educate the youth about not making the same bad choices he did.

Dave Letele Sr, one of the founders of grace foundation New Zealand, shares his story of redemption. He was made a ward of the state at 10, became a patched member of the mongrel mob at 15, then Auckland president at 19. After being sentenced to 10 years for armed robbery, he leaves the gang, and eventually finds God, and the grace foundation begins. A one of a kind organisation in New Zealand that caters for women, children, gang members, drug addicts etc and showing them the goodness of God.
