How Women Detox from Ministerial Significance
How Women Detox from Ministerial Significance
The pressure to be relevant and significant can be overwhelming when part of such a movement as the hyper charismatic movement. Success can be viewed as having a public platform with a massive following or flowing in might and power. It is not exclusive to men or women.  What happens though to women who come out of this and after returning to sound Biblical teaching are potentially discouraged by the perceived lack of spiritual significance or influence they now display?  What does ministry look like? Join me today as we are encouraged by other sisters in Christ and above all, the Word of God.  Resources: Let Me Be a Woman by Elisabeth Elliot (ligonier.org) April 2018 – Emily Rose Massey My info: Website: http://www.lovesickscribe.com Subscribe to my blog here: http://eepurl.com/dfZ-uH Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lovesickscribe/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lovesickscribeblog If you found this podcast helpful, please share it with others and leave a good review

A Look at the Communion Revival
A Look at the Communion Revival
Revival is a popular term used in many Christian circles, and depending upon who you ask, revival means different things. In the Charismatic movement, the call for revival and even reformation is popular and sought after. A new revival is being presented in this movement called the Communion Revival, stating that the blood of Jesus will sweep America and souls will be saved by believers putting their differences aside and coming together to receive communion. Lou Engle believes we have missed the power of communion, based on private revelation from God, and that this will be the revival to usher in the greatest move of God yet.  Join me as we take a look at the Communion Revival and some teaching about communion affiliated with this revival. We will also look at what communion means for us as believers and the richness of Scripture in testifying of Christ. This Is What Victory Looks Like
This Is What Victory Looks Like
In light of the recent midterm election in the United States, modern day professing prophets were decreeing victory months to days preceding the elections.  From a red wave and the alleged significance of a blood moon on the day of the election to prophetic acts in sealing political and societal victory, there was no shortage of proclamations correlating with dominion theology.  However, political results and societal or cultural change is not true victory. Join me as we take a look at some examples of these prophecies, and we encourage ourselves in the Lord and in His Word, testifying of His glorious victory. Modern Prophecy and Sola Scriptura
Modern Prophecy and Sola Scriptura
There are teachings in the prophetic movement that modern prophecy can be fallible and that false prophets are recognized by impure motives rather than false prophecies. There are prophecies given by those claiming to be prophets while telling the church the word can be received or dismissed while claiming an extraordinary unverified encounter with God. Practices akin to the occult and New Age and language foreign to the gospel and absent of the gospel are being presented to people in the name of calling it prophecy. I believe these practices are an assault on sola Scriptura. Join me as we take a look at a well known prophet's word and the concerns surrounding it along with understanding the importance of sola Scriptura.  Sources used: What Does Sola Scriptura Mean? The Significance of the NAR Statement
The Significance of the NAR Statement
On October 10, 2022, a five page statement was released online titled NAR and Christian Nationalism Statement. Dr. Michael Brown and Joseph Mattera were said to have co-drafted this document. A handful of signatures from known leaders in the Charismatic movement were noted on the statement, along with a few hundred ministers to date. This document attempted to address some of the issues regarding the New Apostolic Reformation as well as Christian nationalism. Or did it? Join me as we take a look at the portion dealing with the NAR and we examine some pertinent information in correlation to this statement. Conduct Unbecoming an Apostle
Conduct Unbecoming an Apostle
Self-controlled, respectable, gentle, and not quarrelsome. These are some of the qualifications found in  1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9 for an overseer of the church.  Peter exhorted the elders to shepherd the flock of God without compulsion, shameful gain, and without being domineering in 1 Peter 5:1-4. In the hyper charismatic/NAR churches, it is sadly not uncommon to find church overseers and leaders exemplifying traits contrary to instruction in Scripture.  Join me as we take a look at Scripture regarding Godly leaders along with modern day examples in this movement.   This is a great message from Mission Bible Church: (99) Spiritually Abusive Pastors (1 Pet. 5:1-4) - YouTube My info: Website: http://www.lovesickscribe.com Subscribe to my blog here: http://eepurl.com/dfZ-uH Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lovesickscribe/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lovesickscribeblog If you found this podcast helpful, please share it with others and leave a good review

New Prophecy in the 2nd Century and Beyond
New Prophecy in the 2nd Century and Beyond
In the middle of the second century, a man by the name of Montanus arrived in Phrygia and began displaying ecstatic utterances alongside two women who ultimately left their husbands to participate as prophetesses of what would be called the New Prophecy. This movement focused on several things, but the basis of this movement rested on divine revelation given by the Holy Spirit.  Montanism is said to have died centuries ago, but as we look through history and even today in the current hyper charismatic/ NAR movement, there appears to be echoes of their practices and beliefs.  Join me as we take a look at the history of Montanism and numerous clips from today that could be hearkening back to this time.  www.originalchristianity.net/?p=5777 Montanism:The Story Pentecostal Movements (talentshare.org) The Prophetic Calling of Every Believer (cicministry.org) My info:  Website: http://www.lovesickscribe.com  Subscribe to my blog here: http://eepurl.com/dfZ-uH  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lovesickscribe/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lovesickscribeblog  If you found this podcast helpful, please share it with others and leave a good review

God's Word Does Not Return Empty
God's Word Does Not Return Empty
Many of us can pinpoint a specific time when a life changing moment occurred. Isaiah 55:10,11 says, "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." This passage is a comfort and joy to me, and it reminds me personally that God is faithful to His Word, and He is mighty to save. The Rhema Word You Need
Many are familiar with the use of two specific words in regards to the Bible: logos and rhema. For some, rhema has been highlighted and stated to go beyond the spoken Word of God found in Scripture. Peace, Peace, Wonderful Peace
Peace, Peace, Wonderful Peace
One of the things that has come to light in exiting such a movement as the hyper charismatic movement is the lack of peace one has within this movement. For lack of a better word, there is a growing pressure to have supernatural encounters and experiences and to walk in power and authority so that true victory can be seen in one's life. The problem is that when victory is based upon what you do or attest to in experience, the peace of God is nowhere to be found. People may not understand that the peace of God is possible even in difficult situation and circumstances, which are not desired while in this earth, but they are part of our lives now.  Join me as we discuss the importance of peace with God and the peace of God, the difference between the two, and how this compares to some of the things perpetuated in this movement, resulting in a lack of true peace found only in Christ.  My info: Website: http://www.lovesickscribe.com Subscribe to my blog here: http://eepurl.com/dfZ-uH Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lovesickscribe/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lovesickscribeblog If you found this podcast helpful, please share it with others and leave a good review

1.21 Gigawatts of Prophetic Time Travel
What would you do if you could travel back in time? There are teachings within areas of the Charismatic church promoting the teaching of time travel. Those who teach this and testify of it themselves state that we can go back in time to receive healing in our bloodlines and to recreate memories. Going to the future is alleged as possible, grabbing hold of promises and bringing them into our now. Though all of us would like to change our past and to have a favorable future, the questions remain, did Jesus provide a model for us in time travel, and should we be attempting such a thing?  Join me as we take a look at "Christian time travel" and test this teaching against Scripture.  Resources evaluated: (1659) Time Travel with Katie Souza // Supernatural Life // Patricia King - YouTube (1659) Christian Time Travel (Part 1) // Robert Hotchkin and Katie Souza - YouTube (1659) Christian Time Travel (Part 2) // Robert Hotchkin and Katie Souza - YouTube My info: Website: http://www.lovesickscribe.com Subscribe to my blog here: http://eepurl.com/dfZ-uH Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lovesickscribe/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lovesickscribeblog If you found this podcast helpful, please share it with others and leave a good review Check out a past episode: The Lovesick Scribe Podcast: Have We Misunderstood the Blood Covenant? on Apple Podcasts

Declaring and Clicking in the Word of Faith
Declaring and Clicking in the Word of Faith
Decreeing and declaring is a popular practice particularly in the hyper charismatic church. The power of personal words is typically affiliated with the Word of Faith movement. A while back, I came across an online ministry item called a declarations clicker. This is encouraged to keep track of personal declarations in a day. Is this necessary? How Long, O Lord?
How Long, O Lord?
When David wrote psalm 13 to the Lord, he was in despair and lamenting before God. This was not uncommon to David. He was transparent before the Lord because he knew that nothing was hidden from Him. Yet in his despair, he trusted in His steadfast love, rejoicing in the Lord’s salvation. He sang to the Lord, realizing that though his despair was plentiful, God’s ways toward him were more bountiful.  This is a beautiful picture of our salvation in Christ and how even in our suffering and crying out to God with a “How long, O Lord?” we remember His steadfast love in redeeming us. Our lament turns to joy as we sing of His faithfulness and His amazing grace. Demystifying Christian Mysticism
Demystifying Christian Mysticism
Hearing the voice of God on a personal level through direct contact or through dreams and visions is highly regarded and practiced by those who believe this to be crucial in the life of Christians. You may have heard the term mysticism, which would characterize this type of practice that leads to a mystical union with God. There are some who would call themselves Christian mystics. What is a Christian mystic? Is there any danger in wanting to hear the voice of God for ourselves and to have intimacy with God? Is fellowship with Christ possible without ever having heard the voice of God or having a dream or a vision?  Join me as we discuss the elements of mysticism, look at some examples, and answer these questions and more about Christian mysticism.  Website: http://www.lovesickscribe.com Subscribe to my blog here: http://eepurl.com/dfZ-uH Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lovesickscribe/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lovesickscribeblog If you found this podcast helpful, please share it with others and leave a good review.

Casting Cares on Life Support
Casting Cares on Life Support
1 Peter 5:6,7 says, "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." We can trust the Lord in bringing our cares and burdens to the Lord, knowing that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He is to be our strength. However, many of us have put our cares on life support, holding onto them while thinking we have yielded them over to God. Thank the Lord for His patience with us in our weakness,  for His Word to correct us, and His Spirit to lead us.  If you are or have struggled in truly casting your cares on the Lord, I hope you find this episode encouraging. Join me as I share some personal failures in this area and as we are edified by God's Word and what Christ Jesus has done. The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. The fruit of the Spirit is a hallmark in the life of a believer in Christ. Have you ever heard these verses concerning the fruit of the Spirit and realized how much more spiritual maturity and sanctification lies ahead personally as God cultivates His fruit in you by His Spirit?  Join me in discussing the fruit of the Spirit and the importance of abiding in Christ as proclaimed by Jesus Christ in John 15, as well the necessity of the Word of God abiding in us. Holy Spirit, No Activation Necessary
Holy Spirit, No Activation Necessary
The Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, has been likened at times to a force or an energy. He has been credited with manifestations such as drunkenness, holy laughter, jerking, twitching, and shaking. There are words outside of Scripture attributed to Him, encounters appearing more as conversations between two friends having coffee rather than acknowledging the holiness and reverence of God. There is talk of activating the Holy Spirit and His gifts and inviting Him to corporate gatherings.  Join me as we take a look at some of these manifestations and beliefs while we dive into Scripture. Let's see what the Word of God has to say about the Spirit of God, and let's test ourselves along the way to make sure our theology is sound and in agreement with the Author of Scripture, the Holy Spirit.  Website: http://www.lovesicksribe.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lovesickscribe/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lovesickscribeblog If you found this podcast helpful, please share it with others and consider leaving a good review.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Bible?
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Bible?
Perhaps you have heard this phrase. Typically, it is not an endearing thing to say when uttered, as it refers to those who place a great emphasis on the importance of Scripture. The implication is that those who place this emphasis are in essence worshiping the Bible and potentially not giving way to the Holy Spirit. Some may even believe these individuals are void of the Holy Spirit.  What does Scripture have to say about the value of the Word of God in the life of believers? Is it possible to have intimacy or fellowship with the Lord through the Bible?  Join me as we discuss abiding in the Word of God and what it means to value what God has definitively spoken by those who were carried along by the Holy Spirit in writing Scripture.  Website: http://www.lovesicksribe.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lovesickscribe/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lovesickscribeblog If you found this podcast helpful, please share it with others and consider leaving a good review.

Is New Apostolic Governance a Myth?
Is New Apostolic Governance a Myth?
If you have ever heard of the New Apostolic Reformation, you might have heard the name C. Peter Wagner. He is credited for coining this term and he believed that a second apostolic age began in 2001. One of the fundamental beliefs surrounding this movement is the restoration of the office of the Apostle and with that, governing authority. However, as of late, there are individuals who deny this movement exists, claiming it is a conspiracy theory on par with the Illuminati. Those who acknowledge it are called hypercritics, jealous, and embittered because they simply do not have the power of the Holy Spirit demonstrated in their personal lives.  But what if there is solid evidence this movement exists? What if we could follow a literal paper trail identifying this movement by name even today with the teaching of governing apostolic authority in the church from those who actually hold to this belief?  Join me as we take an in depth look at the NAR/New apostolic movement and the restoration of governing Apostles today. Narcigesis in the Red Sea
Narcigesis in the Red Sea
The account in Exodus 14 of the Red Sea parting is a well known account in Scripture. This particular event is often translated into our modern times and ascribed to particular events and adversities. Often, Red Sea moments are prophesied in the current prophetic movement. Several years ago, I wrote a "prophetic word" on my blog which was shared on media outlets such as Charisma Magazine. It was about God setting the reader up for a "Red Sea moment". Since then, that "word" has been recycled on that outlet. Join me as we take a look at some examples of others declaring "Red Sea moments" and the narcigesis taking place in such words. Maybe you have never heard of this relatively new term. We will talk about it along with examining the word I wrote several years ago.  Finally, we will turn to the Word, which is far greater than any generic prophecy, and we will see the significance of the events that occurred in Exodus 14.   Subscribe to my blog at lovesickscribe.com Find me on Facebook and Instagram (Lovesick Scribe) Consider leaving a 5-star review if you find this podcast helpful. Suffering. It is not a hot topic or one that garners much press, but it is relevant in the life of every believer in Christ. Of all the promises talked about as Christians, this one is avoided and potentially rejected in some teachings. Broken, Bleating, and Bleeding: The Path Forward From Spiritual Abuse
Broken, Bleating, and Bleeding: The Path Forward From Spiritual Abuse
A true shepherd of Christ is marked by humility and a desire to follow Christ's example of servitude. A true shepherd understands Biblical authority and what the confines of Scripture has to say on such matters. Sadly, there are leaders who are not true shepherds but instead, a heavy hand of demanded submission and an overreach of authority is being witnessed and experienced by many. Sheep are being proverbially beaten by the rods of some leaders and teaching is conveyed in such a way to demand loyalty, honor, and blind submission. Consequences are issued for defecting. Those true sheep who are bleeding and bleating from being wounded are chided for even doing so. Where does a sheep turn in the aftermath of such situations? Are there Godly leaders that can be trusted? Is it even possible to heal and to not despise the rod of the True Shepherd, trusting Jesus Christ to lead us on the narrow path? The answer to all of those, my friend, is yes! Join me as I share some personal insight and discuss some potential warning signs of spiritual abuse, what Scripture has to say about Godly leaders, and what is much needed for healing after coming out of such a difficult situation. Getting the Gospel Wrong
Getting the Gospel Wrong
The significance of the gospel of Jesus Christ cannot be overstated. If the true gospel is not proclaimed and if personal experience along with extrabiblical revelation takes precedence for understanding salvation, then there is a real danger of another gospel and another Christ being proclaimed to others. This is no small issue. This is an eternity issue, and the gospel matters. It is a matter of life and death. What happens when popular individuals in particular spheres of influence are talking about seeing portals where loved ones in heaven pray for the salvation of loved ones on earth? What is said of claims that we can declare salvation for our household with the power of our own words? We are going to be looking at this today along with what the gospel truly is from a Biblical perspective.  Getting the gospel right is crucial.  Voddie Baucham: The Gospel of Redemption  https://youtu.be/F9tNrVDcan0?t=4 Kat Kerr: Will I Be Sad if My Loved Ones Aren't in Heaven?  https://youtu.be/tVfvGxTuJIQ?t=6              Declare Salvation to Your Loved Ones  https://youtu.be/EhO34q3xtC4?t=3 Brenda Kunneman: https://youtu.be/jaq0HI4t4mg?t=17  What does the Bible say about household salvation? | GotQuestions.org Is there any scriptural basis for praying on behalf of the unsaved? | GotQuestions.org Subscribe to my blog at lovesickscribe.com Find me on Facebook and Instagram (Lovesick Scribe) If you enjoy this podcast, please comment or leave a 5-star review.

Matthew 13 is a passage in Scripture where we find Jesus teaching in parables, and we find out the reason for why He taught in parables. I recently came across a message on this account from the Bible, and after listening to it and seeing what the Word had to say in context, I was compelled to do an abbreviated analysis of this teaching because the individual teaching on this was Ryan LeStrange. On the Way Through Vanity Fair
On the Way Through Vanity Fair
Behold Vanity Fair! the pilgrims there  Are chained and stoned beside;  Even so it was our Lord passed here,  And on Mount Calvary died. Cancel culture. Retaliation. Hearts grown cold. Lusts and worldly pleasures. Such is the world of Vanity Fair. The Lord Savior Jesus Christ was no stranger to such a world. As strangers in a foreign land, those who are believers in Christ know this place well. It is full of temptation to conduct one's self as desired. But what happens when two men walk through this town on the way to the Celestial City?  Join me as we talk about Vanity Fair and a portion of John Bunyan's allegory of the Christian life, The Pilgrim's Progress, and be encouraged as we look at Scripture and how we are to conduct ourselves in difficult times while in this world on our way to the Celestial City.

Two Tickets to Paradise
Two Tickets to Paradise
In the hyper Charismatic church, it is not uncommon to hear leaders tell of their frequent trips to heaven. There are numerous ministers who tell of their encounters with Jesus and their experiences while in heaven, including conversations with fellow believers who have departed the earth while giving detailed descriptions of places in heaven not found in the Word of God. Some leaders may even tell people that if Christians are not having these types of experiences then their walk with God is lacking.  What are we to make of these heavenly visitations? Are we able to self will trips to heaven? What does the Word of God have to say on this subject? Join me today as we discuss this topic with specific examples from modern trips to heaven being tested against Scripture.  Bob Jones and third heaven activations/ Children and trips to heaven  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYg0n_MWpzo Kat Kerr talking about mothers raising their aborted babies and miscarried babies in heaven https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znEdjg6lF3s Kat Kerr talking about the narrow way and seeing famous people in heaven https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6YqSXBjRIs&t=91s Kat Kerr small compilation of trips to heaven https://youtu.be/W5lYv6ZXz68?t=3980 Patricia King interview about trips to heaven and activation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndOi52ou2Hw Heidi Baker and the body parts room https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0gW7SKpdW0 Subscribe to my blog at lovesickscribe.com Find me on Facebook and Instagram (Lovesick Scribe)

Zacchaeus and the Gospel
Zacchaeus and the Gospel
Luke 19:1-10 tells the account of Jesus Christ seeking and saving the lost soul of Zacchaeus. We learn of this tax collector and his sinful ways. We also learn of his salvation and the fruit of his life in keeping with repentance because of Christ. It demonstrates the gospel at work in the life of a sinner and the work of God in the heart of one who needed the Savior.  As we go through this account, we will look at the importance of the gospel being heard by both the believer and the unbeliever. We will also briefly discuss decisional salvation, altar calls, and sharing our testimonies.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. The account of Zacchaeus is encouraging for us all in remembering our vital need for the Savior.  Subscribe to my blog at lovesickscribe.com Find me on Facebook and Instagram (Lovesick Scribe)

Straight Outta Context Matters
Straight Outta Context Matters
One of the first eye opening things for me while being involved in the hyper Charismatic/ WOF/NAR movement was the twisting of Scripture. It is quite easy to do, and unfortunately, I was not immune from this practice. Taking verses straight out of context is easy to do, and it becomes easier when there is no accountability or testing taking place. Are there verses you may have been told meant one thing but when you go to look up that particular verse, you find the context in Scripture does not agree? Join me as we look at some verses and their proper context. You may be surprised by some of them, or it may confirm what you already knew from Bible study. Either way, the important lesson to learn is that we are to be students of the Word of God, and we are to understand the Bible in its proper context. Otherwise, we will be led astray. Failing Flesh, Strong God: A Look at Psalm 73
Failing Flesh, Strong God: A Look at Psalm 73
Read any one of the psalms and you are likely to notice the type and shadow of a believer in Christ as they bare their hearts before the Lord while praising God and calling to remembrance all of His glorious ways. More times than not, we read of great moments of struggle, weakness, and even disdain for those in opposition. I was recently reading Psalm 73 and found myself reflecting on similar thoughts. The psalmist was grieved by the prosperity of the wicked, and he shared some things that resonate in our current climate and time.  How can we be encouraged by such thoughts? What can we learn from this psalm and others while not losing our focus on God? Join me as we take a thoughtful look at Psalm 73, reflecting on the passages and how they relate to our walk with Christ and our own view of those who seem to prosper in spite of their ways contrary to God.  Subscribe to my blog at lovesickscribe.com Find me on Facebook and Instagram (Lovesick Scribe)

A Berean Scrolls into Social Media
A Berean Scrolls into Social Media
Social media has become a great tool for many of us to connect with people, to learn about others, and to share our thoughts and feelings while showcasing our unique personality. Social media has also been utilized to present beliefs and views as well as Biblical teachings and extrabiblical teachings with regards to Christianity, and some of these are helpful while others only bring further confusion and bondage. Likes and hearts are attainable at the click of a button. We can spot a post discussing a hot topic and quickly like or share that post without a second thought to the content. Do you ever find yourself pondering over particular posts and trying to decipher if a teaching being presented is rooted in the truth according to the Word of God?  Today we will be looking at a recent social media post shared with me by a friend who is coming out of a particular movement. We will do some gross dissection of this post in order to see if it is Biblical. I want to help others in taking some time to see if what is being said even by those who esteem themselves to be apostles and prophets is indeed doctrinally sound. This will require being a good Berean. Join me today as we discuss the topic of self deliverance in this social media post.  Subscribe to my blog at lovesickscribe.com Find me on Facebook and Instagram (Lovesick Scribe)

Shouting Over the Silent Screams
Shouting Over the Silent Screams
Life is such a precious gift from God. Each of us has been created in the image of God, knitted together in our mother's womb by God. I tell my daughter that God does not make mistakes. We are here by His sovereign will, and He has created us for this time and for His purposes. One of the most polarizing topics in our society is abortion. Rather than viewing life as a gift, the opposite transpires. Death ensues from the right over one's body while imposing those rights on another's body. I wanted to talk about this today and to offer some thoughts given the recent heartbeat bill in Texas. Life is precious. The fight for the unborn is a fight worth engaging, and only One can change hearts of stone to hearts of flesh on the matter. Weep and Rejoice
Weep and Rejoice
If you have been following the latest news, you may be painfully aware of the current state of Afghanistan. Reading of accounts from fellow believers in Christ from there is heartbreaking. It leads many of us to pray for them and to ask God to strengthen then. One particular verse came to mind thinking on these things concerning our brothers and sisters in Christ in Afghanistan, as well as those who do not believe or commit evil acts. It was Romans 12:15, "Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep." Both are equally important in this situation though some may not understand why there is a reason to rejoice. Prayer is vital right now, and the decision of these believers to remain and to minister the gospel while facing impending death is convicting and encouraging. Setting Our Joy to Defrost
Have you ever misplaced something in an unlikely spot? It sure is easy to do! As embarrassing as it is, this has happened to me a time or two. It especially happens when I am distracted by things going on around me. Can you relate? There is so much going on in our world right now, and it can easily cause us to become distracted, discouraged, and downcast.  We all battle with frustration, and we can lose sight of our joy in the Lord, displacing it in the middle of distractions. As believers in Christ, we can rejoice in our salvation even when all seems bleak. I hope this episode encourages you in your faith in Jesus Christ in these times. Prayer I Had Not Truly Known
Prayer I Had Not Truly Known
Prayer is a vital part of our walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. As Christians, we cannot and should not go without prayer in our lives. God has granted us the privilege to pray in accordance with His will and to serve others in the area of prayer.  Over the past year, my personal understanding of prayer has changed drastically. The Bible has been so helpful in this change. I want to share with you some things about prayer to consider. There were many things I misunderstood about prayer, and it wasn't until I took the time to search the Word of God about this that I began to see the error of my ways. The correction came at the right time! I pray this blesses you and eases your burdens in times of prayer.  Our God is ever gracious and merciful! Reviewing Bethel Part 2: Prophecy 101
Personal prophetic words and hearing the voice of God were teachings familiar to me for years. I actually taught others out of a manual about prophetic ministry, which originated from Bethel. After examining the Scriptures, I began to realize I had misappropriated Scripture to others, and I had engaged in mysticism. The Bible seemed to not be enough revelation prior to understanding these things. I recently listened to a video released by Bethel concerning prophecy in their series, Rediscover Bethel. I opened my Bible along with the video and tested the teaching, as well as watching numerous other videos correlating with this teaching. The goal of this episode is to critique the teaching on prophetic ministry and to see if it agrees with what Scripture has to say about prophecy. Suffering Despised, the Cross Accessorized
Suffering Despised, the Cross Accessorized
What does the Bible have to say about suffering? For some, they might believe that suffering is simply not meant to be part of the life of a believer in Christ. They may shy away from such talk. But the Bible actually has a great deal to say about suffering, particularly for the sake of Christ.  I ponder this in my own life at times and think on my own ability to despise suffering and to wear my cross rather than bear my cross. We suffer in this world, and as Christians, we suffer to reign with Christ, the One who set the example for us to follow.  Listen on to be encouraged and challenged in this matter. Spirit Filled Without Tongues
Spirit Filled Without Tongues
As someone who was in more of a hyper Charismatic church, speaking in tongues or praying in tongues was not foreign to me. In fact, I did for years, having my own private prayer language. After much studying in the Word and reading, I began to realize what being Spirit filled meant from a Biblical perspective. It was not at all what I once was taught. For those who have come out of this same type of environment, you may certainly relate. I pray this sparks fruitful conversations glorifying Christ and helps to sharpen us as His disciples. This podcast will be focusing on what the Bible has to say about being Spirit filled and what transpired after individuals were filled with the Holy Spirit. Did tongues follow every time? Is it true according to Scripture that the consistent evidence of being Spirit filled is speaking in tongues?  Listen in to find out the answers to these questions. Prophetic Dreams and a Trip to the New Age Section
Prophetic Dreams and a Trip to the New Age Section
Prophetic dreams and visions. Supernatural manifestations. I used to view these occurrences as attaining greater spiritual understanding and that they should be occurring with normalcy. Scripture gives us some insight on dreams and how we are to view such things. For those who are in the prophetic movement, dream interpretation is sought with even the use of a dream dictionary. Now being an observer looking in, I began pondering on any similarities that the New Age may have with this particular subject. I recently took a trip to the local large chain bookstore in order to see if the New Age had dream dictionaries. What I found was more unpleasant similarities with what I had once been involved, leading me to talk about this and the need to take a Biblical perspective on the topic of dreams and visions, among other related things.   Subscribe to my blog at lovesickscribe.com Find me on Facebook and Instagram (Lovesick Scribe)

Seasoned Words, Salty Culture
Seasoned Words, Salty Culture
Let me ask you a question. Do you ever have to resist the urge to be "salty"? I do not mean in the Biblical way. I mean in the way of the world. The temptation is there for all of us at one time or another. Yet the Word reminds us to have our words seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6) and that we are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13). We are going to talk about that this morning in this blog post. I hope that you find yourself on the side of seasoned words rather than being "salty". As the Deep Calls out for Answers
As the Deep Calls out for Answers
I don't know if you have heard Psalm 42 yet by Shane and Shane. If you haven't, I encourage you to go have a listen and then go and read Psalm 42 in the Bible. You know, there are specific verses I have heard through the years and I thought they meant one thing until I took the time to go and read it in context. Psalm 42:7 was one of those verses for me. I had the meaning completely wrong, and now that I understand it better, the entire psalm has been a blessing when navigating the troubled waters life holds at times. Without Christ, it is impossible. There are times in the past few years where I have personally felt weary and broken. It has been a lonely time and yet, God is always there. The psalms help us to embrace being bare before the Lord in our trials and in our triumphs. Maybe you have found yourself in a time of asking God, "Have you forgotten me?" Maybe there seems no end to the breakers and the waves in life. Maybe you have been cast down, and you need a reminder to hope in Christ alone and to remember that He is your salvation. Be encouraged by our precious Savior and by the Word of God today in this podcast. Subscribe to my blog at lovesickscribe.com Find me on Facebook and Instagram (Lovesick Scribe)

There are topics I mull over for a while before I talk about them. This is one of those topics. I hope you read this understanding that it comes from a place of love and concern for those who have reached out to me and shared how much freedom they now have after coming out of the teachings and such perpetuated in some of these movements. Have you ever heard a statement that left you with more questions than an answer? What if that statement seemed to contradict Scripture? Today's blog post has to do with the prophetic and the belief that error is justified or even expected today. One prophet in the New Testament is used to support this belief, and his name is Agabus. A Thoughtful Response to the Prophetic Standards Statement
A Thoughtful Response to the Prophetic Standards Statement
A few weeks ago, I came across the Prophetic Standard Statement and took the time to read through it. Upon reading it, I was compelled to write some questions and express some thoughts concerning this document. We are living in times when we must be willing to share the truth in love and to point people back to Jesus Christ while standing upon the Word of God as the solid foundation of truth. Finally, all that we do must be in love. I write and record these podcasts out of love and concern for others because I wish that someone had done the same for me. Whether you agree or disagree with the few areas addressed here in this episode, I hope that you will be compelled back to Scripture for the ultimate standard. If you have ever struggled with feeling weak in prayer or in life as a whole when facing tough times, this episode is to help you. We have all felt that way at one time or another, and it is encouraging to know that our weakness is something which we are to embrace as believers in Christ. There are numerous others in Scripture who were weak in times of prayer. The apostle Paul was one of them. 2 Corinthians 12 is a great reminder for us that weakness is not to be despised, but it is to be used for HIs glory and to be perfected in His strength. There Be Fallacious Spirits Here
There Be Fallacious Spirits Here
Have you been taught about different spirits that are not apparent in Scripture? Have you been plagued with the thought that you may have a religious spirit, an orphan spirit, or even a Jezebel spirit? I find it interesting now that all of this talk of demonic indwelling, demonology, and erroneous spirits operating in people is not said of the world necessarily, but it is said to Christians concerning fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I began to notice a few years ago while reading the Bible that I could not find some of these spirits mentioned though dozens of books can be purchased that are dedicated to extrabiblical knowledge concerning them. There are entire doctrines being built upon the presence of these spirits. Rather than going on personal experience, we should be asking if this is Biblical or if people are being led off into myths. Join me today as we look at some of these teachings and test them against Scripture. There is great freedom found in the Word of God! Jesus refers to Himself as the good Shepherd a few times in John 10. He calls those who follow Him His sheep. Have you ever thought of yourself as a sheep? The Word of Christ Dwelling Richly
As we approach this weekend and our celebration and reflection on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, I wanted to share this post with you focusing on Colossians 3:16. It may seem an unlikely passage to bring to our remembrance for this time, but I found myself pondering on the word of Christ dwelling richly within us and the importance of it. Thank God for His Word and for the gospel that has saved us from the wrath of God. We praise God for sending His Son into the world, and we thank Him for new life. We praise Him that our old self dies and that we are called to put on Christ, and we can understand this more as we meditate on Scripture. The State of Men's Souls
The State of Men's Souls
King David is known by many for being a man after God's own heart. His sin against God is something that is rarely discussed, and when it is mentioned, there can be a tendency to use his fall as an example of God forgiving a great leader. But in order for us to understand why God forgave David, we must return to the Word of God and take a closer look at his sin and the state of this man's soul in his sin against God. We are going to see a beautiful picture in today's episode of God's justice and mercy, and we will see the type and shadow of the New Testament believer in a posture of repentance, which is to be the current state of every man and woman's soul today.   Do you like to read? He Is not Jealous for Me
He Is not Jealous for Me
You may know this song. It was a personal favorite for years. The very beginning of the song, How He Loves, tells us that He is jealous for us. Yet, is this a Biblical statement? Is God jealous for you and me, or for something else that we do not understand? We are going to talk about this today, as well as the current state of some of the praise and worship music. The Bible helps us in understanding what is acceptable worship unto the Lord. I am concerned that Christ less music is being sung without us recognizing it. There is a tendency to centralize ourselves in the song rather than God. There is also a disturbing trend to sing to another Christ. Let's discuss this today.  To read the corresponding blog post, click here: He Is Not Jealous for Me | (lovesickscribe.com)

Stubby but Fruitful- When God Prunes His Branches
Stubby but Fruitful- When God Prunes His Branches
As believers in Christ, we can anticipate being pruned spiritually. Jesus Christ spoke to His disciples in John 15, "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit." He goes on to stress the importance of branches abiding in the vine and helping His disciples to understand that apart from Him, they could do nothing. This applies to us today as disciples of Jesus Christ.  In this episode, we talk about what it means to be pruned by God, and we understand the ultimate focus as we are pruned.  You can find this corresponding blog post at Pruned to Bear Fruit | (lovesickscribe.com)

The Cure for the Prophetic Pandemic
The Cure for the Prophetic Pandemic
It is now 2021, and much has taken place in the United States with the election. The pandemic continues, and there is much uncertainty abounding.  However, there is another pandemic that has made itself known even more so, and that is the pandemic of false prophecy concerning the election. Today, I will be discussing this and my concerns for what is taking place in the prophetic movement. Some people will say that if you say anything against the prophecies, you are despising prophecy, you have no faith, or that you are coming against the prophets. To these things, there is some insight I wish to share. One thing is for certain, for those of us who stand upon the Word of God as authoritative and as truth, to despise prophecy would be to despise Scripture itself.  The urgency is increasing for the church to return to Scripture for instruction and for truth.  You can read the corresponding blog post here The Cure for the Prophetic Pandemic | (lovesickscribe.com)

The Freedom Now Received
The Freedom Now Received
The truth indeed brings freedom, and there is no greater truth than the Word of God. True freedom cannot come to us apart from Christ and His Word. Troubles arise when Scripture is misappropriated, and when this happens, bondages are inadvertently created by the perpetrator of misappropriation, not by Scripture itself. There were things I once believed, things that could not be substantiated in the Word of God. Maybe you can relate. In this podcast, I share personally some things that were once bondages perceived as freedom, but thankfully the Word of God shined light on these things and brought true freedom. John 8:31,32 is applicable for every believer in Jesus Christ.  You can read this corresponding blog post at The Freedom Now Received | (lovesickscribe.com)

When Suffering Come to Fellowship
When Suffering Come to Fellowship
We all try to avoid it. We beg and plead at times for a cup of suffering to pass from us. Some teachings even frown upon suffering, denying that God's best is not being received. But Scripture makes it clear that suffering comes, whether through affliction or persecution, it comes. Suffering is never more clear than in our Savior and His atonement for our sins. When I think about it, it seems arrogant to believe that we are entitled to not suffer. Thank God that in the midst of it, God comforts us. He gives us peace and the promise of eternal life. This podcast will be focusing on my two most recent blog posts, dealing with the issue of suffering and praising God in the darkest times.  To subscribe to my blog, visit lovesickscribe.com

The Root of Inner Healing
The Root of Inner Healing
Inner healing and deliverance. Sozo. Theophostic prayer. You may have heard these terms or even participated in inner healing sessions. What you may not recognize is this name: Agnes Sanford. Who is Agnes Sanford, and what does she have to do with inner healing?  More than you might think. I took the time months ago to read two of Sanford's books and test them against Scripture. You may be shocked to hear what was in those books and what this has to do with inner healing. May this podcast shed light on the truth and draw us back to the Word of God and to the One who truly gives us healing and delivers us from sin and the wrath of God.  Subscribe to my blog at lovesickscribe.com

Have We Misunderstood the Blood Covenant?
Have We Misunderstood the Blood Covenant?
You may have recently seen a clip circulating on social media and the internet regarding an illustrated sermon by a well known minister, talking about the blood covenant. The actions portrayed disturbed and upset many, and it brought a question to the forefront of this teaching: was this teaching Biblical and a true representation of the better covenant brought by the blood of Jesus Christ? You may be surprised to learn the origins of this teaching and that it can be traced back to several books written about the blood covenant by professing Christians. Is what they taught sound teaching? We will discuss this today at length, and we will look at the Word of God to have the final say on this matter.  Are you a reader and enjoy blogs? The Biblical Truth About False Teachers
The Biblical Truth About False Teachers
What does the Bible say about false teachers? Are we to even concern ourselves with potential false teaching and false doctrine, or should we take a passive approach even if it means others are led astray eternally? We all may have been or are inclined to avoid addressing such an issue, but this is a serious matter, and one which should not be ignored or diminished but addressed in truth and in the love of God. Join me as we look at what Scripture has to say about this and why it matters.  Are you a reader and enjoy blogs? The Road To Emmaus
The Road To Emmaus
Luke 24 is a well known account that many of us love to read. Many of us especially love the part where the disciples ask one another, "Did our hearts not burn within us?" But what made their hearts burn? We are going to be talking a little bit about this today, and my hope is that our hearts will burn for the same reason as these disciples.  Are you a reader and enjoy blogs? Touch Not the Lord's Anointed
Touch Not the Lord's Anointed
I have heard this and seen this Bible verse more times than I can count, and maybe you have as well.  It seems to surface when someone brings a well known minister's words or public teaching into question. This Scripture, "Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm", at times strikes fear into the hearts of people, and it leads many to think that raising such questions are inappropriate and dangerous. But is this really the case? Does this passage of Scripture have anything to do raising concerns or questions about teaching and conduct which may contradict the instruction of the Bible? We are going to look at this in more detail, and we are going to be encouraged by the truth and clarity of Scripture.  Are you a reader and enjoy blogs? The Broken Way
The Broken Way
Have you ever had thoughts that you knew if said out loud could breed contention? It is probably safe to say that there is quite a bit you and I keep to ourselves. Well, on this week's podcast, we are going to be talking about the current situation with the American Presidential election and prophecies surrounding the outcome. Whether you agree or disagree with what I say here, I hope that you are willing to listen and to search the Scripture for truth and to acknowledge the genuine concern that many have right now regarding this. Now more than ever, America and the nations of the earth need the Way.  Are you a reader and enjoy blogs? I Was A False Prophet
I Was A False Prophet
There is a more sure Word. It is called the Bible. In this episode, I share some personal things with you and the wonderful conviction of the Holy Spirit to lead me into the truth. Over this past year, after coming out of a hyper charismatic/NAR movement, I came to terms with the truth that I had been a false prophet. How do I know that? Listen on to find out, but even more than that. Read the Bible in context. Let it be a light unto your feet, and a lamp unto your path (Psalm 119:105) Are you a reader and enjoy blogs? Chasing Dragonflies and Reading Omens: Things Christians Should Avoid
Chasing Dragonflies and Reading Omens: Things Christians Should Avoid
What does the Bible say about assigning meaning to such things as dragonflies and repetitive numbers in determining direction for our lives? Should Christians be participating in such practices? These were things that I did as one who was part of the prophetic movement in the charismatic church. This was one of many things which God convicted me of and led me to repentance. In this podcast, we talk about Biblical passages concerning the reading of omens, which is what this practice essentially is and if Christians should do this. This podcast may challenge you, but it will encourage you to be rooted in the truth found in the Scriptures so that as Christians, we will glorify God in word and deed and not be led astray.  Are you a reader and enjoy blogs? God, The Gospel and the Supreme Court
God, The Gospel and the Supreme Court
Over the past several weeks, there have been major developments regarding the United States Supreme Court. One of the pressing issues you may hear many conservatives and Christians discuss is the issue of abortion and the future of Roe versus Wade. As a Christian, you may have avoided discussions about abortion with others for different reasons, but as believers, we need to openly discuss these issues and ask some important questions.  What does the Bible say about abortion? What is the history of the court regarding this issue and should we put our trust in the system? What is the answer for our nation? These are answers we will tackle in this debut podcast from Christian blogger, Dawn Hill, The Lovesick Scribe
