Episode 295: Networking is a muscle. 3 tips to get comfortable with it.
When you start working out, you don't go to the gym and suddenly start lifting 200lbs. You start with your comfort zone. Maybe that's 2lb weights, 5lbs, 20lbs - whatever. You start somewhere and work yourself up to where you want to be. Its the same with Professional Networking, especially at in-person events.
If you're shy, introverted or a bit anxious about interacting with other people - you can't expect to throw yourself into these events (unless you have the courage to do so, in which case, kudos to you).
But my suggestion is you start with simple things to start exercising that "networking muscle". In this episode I share 3 tips on increasing the strength of this muscle.

Every now and then you'll come across a Hiring Team which will pose you this question: Why should we hire you?

Episode 276 (Quick Tip): Reducing anxiety at Job Interviews
I posted this tip to my TikTok channel earlier this week. While there are many ways and tips and tricks people suggest in reducing that "interview anxiety", I wanted to share this one piece of advice which should help you, at least a bit.
The reason you're feeling that anxiety at Job Interviews - aside from ofcourse feeling nervous about speaking to a complete stranger - is not because you lack confidence and its not because you're "weak". So firstly, quit that type of internal self-talk because you'll start believing it and it won't help you in any way.
One of the factors contributing to your Interview anxiety is simply being too outcome-focused. Most of you only have one or two interviews scheduled at a time. So if you screw up, you have nothing else in your "pipeline". THAT is why you are so nervous and anxious. Let me ask you this: if you knew you had like 4 other Interviews setup with other Organizations, would you be as anxious or nervous? It might still be there, but probably not as much.
Why?
Because you know you've got 3 or 4 other Interviews lined. You have options and because of that, you're not too worried about the outcome.
So while its easier said than done, I want you to focus on having a consistent pipeline of 3-4 Interviews always on the go during your Job Search.
