Her experience has ranged from assisting in navigating the health care system and medical insurance, advocating in clinical and emergency settings, writing and administering training on functional supports in individual and group settings, transitions in care, finding and utilizing resources outside of traditional medical care settings such as state supports and funding options for non-covered or inadequately covered care, and more. She believes that a person’s health journey is deeply personal, and too often one that is overwhelming and confusing. As an advocate, she seeks to make that journey less overwhelming and to help those she works with feel empowered to be active participants in their care or the care of their loved one.

The elderly community needs all the support and love it can get. Between the pandemic and all the fraud that is aimed at our seniors, I wanted to be a force for good.  I do this by interviewing subject matter experts in their respective fields.   There are so many different things that could come into the picture as we age, and by interviewing the experts, I help fill the knowledge gap.  We don't know what we don't know until we have a need.  And even then, we may not know exactly how to get the answers we are looking for.

This is why I created Texas Elder Care.

Health Chats Among Friends Featuring-Valerie Kelso of Purple Light & Touch

In this episode I speak with Valerie Kelso of Purple Light & Touch. Valerie Kelso is known as the woman with a big heart. From a young girl, she knew she was born to make a difference. Her mother and father taught her the art of selflessness and loving others unconditionally. Her Parents are from the Island of Jamaica. Valerie and her 11 siblings were born in England. In 2011 she moved from England to Fort Worth, Texas. Valerie who had severe lower back and shoulder pain realized that if physical pain could be healed, then emotional pain through love and touch can also be healed. Valerie’s passion stems from her own demons of domestic violence, bullying, teen pregnancy, and low self-esteem issues. Her goal is to reach out to hurting women and teen girls. Valerie realized that if you have had any trauma in your life and you do not get the healing the body requires, it breaks down the immune system and cancer cells can be ignited.
