Today is Friday, June 14th 2019 and today we are talking about all the challenges of starting a homestead from scratch. I literally went from a fancy 2 family house on a cliff with a killer view of lower Manhattan in my backyard to living in an off-grid 25ft 1975 Airstream with a view of hills and mountains in the middle of PA. This is my 5th year out here and things are coming along slowly. My plan was to take my time, enjoy, learn and really build once and be happy. I watched a youtube video last night of a 3 year timeless of someone taking raw land and turning it into an off-grid homestead and wow that is not me! I am doing this on a shoe string budget and really trying to plan things out and honestly it’s been a lot of fun and i’m supper happy I am doing it this way. With that said it does have it’s challenges.  It’s hard living in something designed for a vacation here or there, in the summer, or not having running water! Today is Tuesday, June 11th 2019 and today we are talking about writing a land development plan for my property.  Write letter to planning commission to start the process of building my homestead. Structures Home/ homes       Outbuildings Farming Adding a conditional uses for a camping ground Workshops  Questions I still have  My first draft  Land Development Plan for Dennis Alan Woodward, PA 16882 To whom it may concern I Dennis Alan is submitting my proposed plan for my property listed above. My plan is to build an approximate size home of 20x50 on the level land above the quarry and above the approved septic locations. In the distant future I would like to build an Farmstead accessory dwelling unit for a farm hand once the farm is producing. I am installing a windmill to pump water from the existing well located on the higher end of the land above the proposed home. I plan to build a 10 x8 water storage shed around the well to store the water storage tank. I currently have a 28x34ft workshop made from 3 shipping containers with a roof located in the old rock quarry. I will be moving my storage yurt to the west of my home and building a level floor for it.   I plan on holding a couple workshops a year to teach my farming methods and allow people to stay on my land and/or in my home. I have 3 campsites that I have been maintaining since moving here and may like to add a few more but under the 25 that would require me to build a water treatment plant. I have a portable restroom the campers currently use. I am in the process of getting permits for 4 existing structors to get me up to code.  I have attached a map of my proposed land plan and where most of the above are located. Today is Monday, April 18th 2019 episode 30 and today we will be talking about the headaches of putting together Quarry Fest 4/20. From getting a nasty letter from the department of making you sad shutting down the event to last minute preparations. The Quarry in central Pennsylvania just outside of State College in Woodward, PA. Two stages include a main stage built from the left over rock from the old quarry and a smaller secondary stage will host over 13 bands.  Local food, beer from Rusty Rail Brewing Company and other vendors will be set up till dusk fulfilling needs of concert goers. Tents and a traditional Mongolian yurt will provide everyone with shelter in case of inclement weather. Camping is available on 30 acres with a few hidden gems. Today is Friday, March 22nd 2019 and we are live from Inglebean. Just yesterday someone called the Inglebean asking for a manager to try and coordinate a gift package to these guys because she had heard they are coming through town the next day. She works for a woman owned and run company called Lily Trotters that makes compression socks for hikers and such and heard that they were having some pains so she is sending some of their socks for them.
