"Last month I was working with one of my clients – ranked 13th on the Fortune 500 list of largest corporations. I was with a group of 60 leaders delivering tools for mindset, growth, leadership, and culture.

In a sidebar conversation during one of the breaks, one of the participants shared with me about his family, faith, work, and life purpose. I was recently intrigued by the subtitle of a book I saw that asked, “What if GOD isn’t who you think he is?” Which prompted a second question for me: And what difference would that really make in life? 

To the first question: Your conscious-level mind will always give you the intellectual, theological answers about who you think GOD is:

-GOD is Love; GOD is holy; GOD is grace; GOD is sovereign, supreme, and awesome in wonder; GOD is patient, just, merciful;-GOD is glorious; GOD is a father, and so on.

But if you really want to know the answer of your heart, examine the subconscious, automatic ways you typically assess yourself, react to others, and respond to circumstances taking place in the world around you.

This week we’re wrapping up our series on the Three Essential Elements of a Renewed Mind, based on Romans 12:2 which tells us it is the renewed mind that enables you to discern GOD’s will – his good, pleasing, and perfect will for your life and his world.

So, we’ve already seen GOD’s exceedingly abundant contribution toward the renewed mind. He allowed for our fickle and devasting choice of will, but HIS nature remains constant – GOD gives and gives and gives. He’s all about giving for our best. In fact, it could be said that GOD’s FOR giving. And he desires us to do the same. It’s not transactional. In other words, he doesn’t demand something first or in exchange for his unbridled grace over your life.

Welcome to Season Two of our weekly podcast, Design & Destiny. I’m Doreen Lecheler. And for over 20 years I’ve had the privilege and blessings of empowering organizational leaders, athletes, cancer patients, everyday moms & dads, and purpose-seeking Christians with scientific tools we now know about how the mind works, as well as the scriptural truths that release greater GOD-given purpose and potential by teaching you HOW to renew and master your mind.

How would you describe the abundant life?  

Jesus tells us in John 10:10: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.”  

Abundant life is for every life now, God is overflowing with abundance.  

Living an abundant life requires three things of us:  

1. The belief that God is good and cares for you. 

2. The belief that every need & challenge you face was settled with Jesus at the cross. 

3. You must learn to live with an “all things are possible” attitude.

Our words either build us up or tear us down. The Bible tells us life and death are in the power of the tongue, and we will eat the fruit of it (Proverbs 18:21). In other words, we reap what we sow by the words we speak.  Often, we are far too careless about the way we think and speak. 

Words have the power to create energy and release emotions that produce life and health or death and disease. Our utterances are not meaningless expressions that evaporate into thin air. The mind records what we give it. And our thoughts accumulate to build beliefs: positive or negative, liberating or limiting, life-giving or life-threatening.

One commonality among the Whiner, Worrier, and Warrior is they naturally default to ego and outcomes. The Whiner’s complaints, the Worrier’s concerns, or the Warrior’s conquests can become a dominant pattern of thinking that colors our perspective and impacts expectations when left unchecked. But among the four Masters of the Mind, there is only one that is fully focused on abiding in the hiding place of love. Enter, the Worshipper, rushing heaven’s gates with thanksgiving in its heart and filling God’s courts with praise (Psalm 100:4).
