DE-TABOO THE WORLD

By RaeLi Narisi
When we can take the things we fear and look them in the eye, we find more understanding, unmasking what often is revealed to be toothless paper tigers, and even making alliance with former enemies. This podcast is dedicated to everything and everyone from the taboo, the offbeat, the misfits, and back-to-the-lander simple life rogue warriors, the crazed ultra distance athletes, and more.
Cheers to radical innovation, going your own way, and non-linear logic.

"Don't Pyrolize- Metabolize!!" How to Save the Planet w/ Soil Carbon Sequestration, with Mycologist and Biologist, Larry Evans
What’s taboo about Biology and Environmental Conservation? Mushrooms! While being an absolutely essential component to human and planetary health, most of us especially in “western culture” have grown up with an innate fear of mushrooms because we’re led to believe they’ll either kill you or get you arrested… unless you buy the bland simplified button mushrooms from the conventional supermarket. In an age of increasing natural disasters, ecological degradation, and Gen Z coming up to buffer the status quo in corporate rule over our natural resource management, we are going to have to reconcile our relationship with fungi. A balanced climate needs healthy soils. It’s an integral component to the cycles of carbon. Carbon is in pretty much everything, but in this podcast we talk about the carbon specifically in wood and wastes that too often gets burned as standard process of waste removal. Burning these so called “wastes” releases that carbon into the atmosphere where it causes imbalances, but more importantly it could be serving incredibly valuable roles if it were put back into the soils to be metabolized by fungi. This is the key to soil nutrients and humidity which serve everything from the ability to grow nutrient-dense quality food to preventing the next irreversible dust bowl, or regulating forest fires of unnatural scale. Larry is a beautiful soul, mycologist and biologist. Listen along as I get schooled learning about all these fascinating processes taking place right under our noses, and as Larry enlightens me as to why you can’t talk about ecology and economy as separate subjects with issues unrelated to one another. When we look more closely at this essential process that we are bypassing, by separating the natural ecological processes from our economic incentives, we can begin to remove a massive blindspot and secure a better future for all beings on the planet. Exercise your attention span as you listen to this conversation, folks. Enjoy, and Live Consciously and Adventurously! http://www.montanamushrooms.com/ https://www.youtube.com/user/MrMushroomlarry
