By Forever Friday: Reviewing Friday the 13th Movies

From Camp to camp... Crystal Lake to kitsch that is. Devon and Alex are spending a LOT of summers at Crystal Lake as they break down each and every Friday the 13th film, talking about everything that makes the franchise great. Like popular podcasts before us, such as Star Wars Minute, we're breaking down the films minute by minute, every 13 minutes that is.

We like to think of that as a clever title parallel rather than us not having the attention spans for singular minutes of an 18 hour feature series.

Paul Is Daddy, Steve Is Just Dad (Friday the 13th Part 2)

Paul Is Daddy, Steve Is Just Dad (Friday the 13th Part 2)

After a fond farewell to old friend Alice last week, we're back at Crystal Lake but a brand new location where surely nothing can go wrong, except bears. In this episode we get to know the new cast with the jokester, the badboy, the scantily clad, and trusty Wheels. So sit around the campfire as we give it to you straight about Jason; has he ever fought a bear? Why didn't he do anything if he saw his mom get decapitated? Is throwing menstrual pads at him a good defense?

Jason's a Bit of a C.H.U.D. (Friday the 13th Part 2)

After a year or so sabbatical, the boys are back in town for a whole new summer and a whole new slasher. It's Friday the 13th Part II! And what better way to start the summer than with some nice, cold watermelon... except it's on top of the fridge, did someone move it to fit a severed head in there?

Bad Mom's Summer (Friday the 13th)

Bad Mom's Summer (Friday the 13th)

It's the ultimate showdown, mom versus teen. In a battle that takes an entire episode to cover, because of the 13 minutes format. We're finally done with breaking down the original Friday and it's time to say goodbye to Pamela, but a pumpkin headed boy is about to say hello just over the horizon.

Rob Zombie's Friday the 13th Change.Org Petition (Friday the 13th)

Rob Zombie's Friday the 13th Change.Org Petition (Friday the 13th)

One might think the boys actually want to do a Halloween podcast with the amount of times they mention those movies, but there's a new one coming so we pique our expectations and even consider if a certain Mr. Zombie chose the wrong slasher franchise to revitalize. In the actual minutes of the film we get two more kills despite the pace slowing considerably, some new backstory of Crazy Ralph, Brenda and her filthy bare feet, and some killer tactics never seen again.

Axe Wounds and Gashes Starring Louis CK (Friday the 13th)

Axe Wounds and Gashes Starring Louis CK (Friday the 13th)

The boys get particularly horny with this segment as a particularly dumb sex pun is repeated far too many times. Things get a little quiet as the cast gets cut down but we pump up the jams with some music discussion including an obligatory dancing Sam Rockwell. Sorry for the slight audio issues this episode, I was fiddling with my headset/mic set up and audacity recorded from the laptop.

Love Good Baseball Times Community (Friday the 13th)

Love Good Baseball Times Community (Friday the 13th)

We talk about a seemingly inconsequential goofy guy delivering weird lines who sloppily bikes away... and then another seemingly inconsequential goofy guy delivering weird lines who sloppily bikes away. We get both of these in 13 minutes plus a biblical revelation on doomsayer Ralph, a detailed take on the third wheel Ned, a comparison of Friday to the other 1980 horror Prom Night... and all led with an impassioned breakdown of a truly baffling horror sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

Steve Is The Real Monster At Crystal Lake (Friday the 13th)

Steve Is The Real Monster At Crystal Lake (Friday the 13th)

The boys have finally arrived at Camp Crystal Lake and quickly become acquainted with all the campers... except for poor, sweet Annie who never even makes it that far. Is she technically even a counselor even she never started work? We also discuss new lead Alice and her police sketches of prime '70's Steve, teenagers saying dumb things, why people were scared of trains back in the early days of cinema, and a new segment pitting Jason against a mystery opponent... and it sure is groovy. No, it's not Ash.

Breakin' The Glass Ceiling (Friday the 13th)

Breakin' The Glass Ceiling (Friday the 13th)

From Camp to camp, it's our inaugural episode for the podcast covering each and every Friday the 13th movie in the vein of Star Wars Minute, except we've got a lotta teens to get through so we're tackling 13 minute chunks.

The year is 1980, and a small low-budget horror would revolutionize the genre, putting masked killers into the mainstream cinema and claiming once innocent things such as hockey masks or the name Jason as their own. We tackle the first 13 minutes featuring the 1950's prologue, Annie's arrival to Crystal Lake, and a concerned trucker's tales of a cursed camp.
