Effective approach to ending bullying among young women

Effective approach to ending bullying among young women

We began this topic from the cradle, and I hope to take this as far as I can go. This is because a lot of women get bullied all through their lives- Either at home or in college or the workplace (depending on their field of endeavour). There is even some assumption that most people who get bullied at the early years of their lives get bullied all through; except they stand up and fight back.
A team of Yale Medicine investigators is examining what causes bullying and to untangle the interactions between bullies and their victims and redirect them in more positive ways. Using evidence-based personality measurement tools, the researchers found that many bullies score high in “callous/unemotional” traits, which describes an inability to recognize signs that another person is upset. Such people become impaired in their ability to know that the other person is in distress because of their action.

Healing in your hands with Dr. Kate Truitt

Healing in your hands with Dr. Kate Truitt

On this episode of the podcast, I focused on our mental well-being as women, considering the fact that we all go through one form of pain and regret that keeps holding us back from living life to full potential. Where therapy and medication have failed, I found something quite different to help you salvage the pain.

I had the privilege of speaking with the author of the book- "Healing in your hands." She is Dr Kate, Truitt, a clinical psychologist and a neuroscientist from Los Angeles USA.

Dr Truitt has had her fair share of trauma after the loss of her partner of over 10 years. She shared some powerful insight on pain, stress, trauma, and how our brain reacts to these hurtful situations.

She mentioned that there are a lot of hurting people because traumatic situations face us all. However, hurtful people have the power to persevere and come out stronger.

Why don't you take some time to listen to this episode and share it with everyone? You never know what the other person is going through. Healing in your hands is a book that provides you with the Havening technique, a new approach to management and healing of trauma.

Check out Dr. Kate out in the channels below. Don't forget to drop your feedback as well.

In this podcast, we succeeded in creating awareness on financial inclusion for women and how access to financial services can reduce poverty and make women more finacially empowered. My guest, a financial expert from Oklohama City, spoke extensively on the reasons why women should aspire to access financial services. She mentioned that financial services such as loans and insurance plans allow women to take charge of their lives and their future. Unfortunately in developed and developing countries, women shy away from these responsibilities because they feel its a man's world. Mentorship from a distance

Mentorship from a distance

Previous guests on this program mentioned how they excited mentorship from people they never saw😃 Interesting right? Our guest went ahead to inform is that the thoughts and ideas of certain individuals through their books have helped them make meaningful discussions along their caree paths. Of a truth, a mentor is not only someone you see physically, but someone who can still influence you positively even in their absence. Today in this episode tagged "Mentorship from a distance", we focus on mentorship for healthy relationships and I was super excited to provide excerpts from my newest book "Love is a CRAFT, Discovering self for better relationships". ABOUT THE BOOK
Relationships are special and many people get into it without a clear knowledge of who they are and what to expect from their partner. Every relationship should be a place where needs are met and dreams fulfilled. It should bring happiness and satisfaction to the individual while being real to themselves.
Love is a CRAFT helps individuals understand their core values and craft a relationship that is an embodiment of their personality and who they are. It provides necessary tools that individuals need in making healthy relationships.
The concepts that are explained in this book are based on basic coaching tools that empower the individual to build a healthy relationship by first understanding their personality.

Soft skills and self branding

Soft skills and self branding

OVERVIEW: In this episode, I share my recent experience as the Head of the Human resource team of an organisation in an interview with job applicants. I realized that many applicants and employees are still tied to talking about their qualifications and hobbies without mentioning about those skills that are not related to the job but can in one way or the other promote the organization's productivity. The applicants at our interview could not speak of their strengths. Truth is, most of them considered this not important since they have many years experience on the job. DEFINITION OF CONCEPT: Soft skills are defined as character traits and interpersonal skills that characterize a persons relationship with other people. These soft skills include communication and organising skills mentoring or motivation of coworkers, leading or taking responsibilities, excellent negotiation skills and getting jobs done well and on time. IMPORTANCE OF SELF BRANDING: 1. In recent times, employers of labour look for people who possess soft skills. This is because when people are moved by what they know and do best, tthey will do it with ease and then the organization's productivity will greatly improve. 2. Soft skills help Human Resource Managers in Job placement and rotation. The organization with new prospects may just give opportunity to already existing staff to apply for these jobs before opening these opportunities to outside applicants. SUMMARY: While we talk about our qualifications and other skills, please talk about your soft skills as this could open bigger doors for you within and outside the organization.

Tips on maintaining a mentor and mentee relationship

Tips on maintaining a mentor and mentee relationship

When people end up finding a Mentor, the next problem arises which is their inability to maximize or maintain the relationship. This could be out of ignorance of what to do or an overjoy that leads to familiarity. Whether it is a familiar relationship, by that I mean, a mentee/mentor relationship based on friendship or a formal one with an acquaintance, being able to understand what to do at every session will help both parties make the best of the relationship. It should be known that the mentor/mentee relationship benefits both parties as such the tips recorded in this episode should be duly followed. Most importantly as discussed, is the need to document every session. By that I mean, taking down notes for personal use. Both the mentor and the mentee should not just listen but write what is said during this session. The mentor needs this so that she is able to recap all that the mentee may have mentioned to her in a hurry. The mentee on the other hand should keep a journal to write all the suggestions and tips provided by the mentor. At no point should these parties feel too comfortable to meet without documentation. Where this happens, such session will be just a discussion session and parties may not be able to get the best from it. It is also possible that both parties may not remember what was discussed, what action points were made and what the focus should be after the session. This episode provides detailed information and tips for both the mentor and the mentee so at whatever rung of the ladder you are, there is something for you. Happy listening!

Mentorship and why you need it

Mentorship and why you need it

Mentors have been mistaken by many to mean role models, coaches, counsellors and much more. A mentor has been defined in this podcast as an individual who provides expertise and professional knowledge to another person- called the Mentee; in order to enable him/her excel in a particular field. A Mentor must have enough information on the subject matter most preferable from work experiences or academic pursuit. Mentors help individuals to have clarity through proven methods or skills which they have personally built in the past or are currently trying out. In recent times, many young people seem not to be aware of the importance of having Mentors as they would rather seek counselling or coaching and spend time on trial and errors. While these- coaching, counselling have their unique benefits, mentorship on a specific course or career should not be misplaced with the latter. Mentorship is a relationship where both individuals benefit from. This series explains the benefit of mentorship and also allows both parties understand what mentorship really is and how to mazimize the relationship while learning from each other. As you ponder on this, WHO IS YOUR MENTOR?
