how do you handle time management and productivity when you're neurodivergent? growing up when we didn't know about our OCD or ADHD, we would try EVERYTHING to try and be productive during school and work without any success. and on top of that, we grew up in immigrant households that also played a huge part on how we viewed work. now that we're older, we have some tips to be our most productive selves and you will really see how we function SO differently from another and that's ok. hope u enjoy this one and happy finals season!!

hello! we’ve traveled to many different places, and so that we means we have A LOT of stories that make up these trips that we’ve never shared before… we got a lot of good experiences, but also REALLY bad ones which include getting scammed, hostel malfunctions, traveling as a female solo traveler, foreign TSA lines, and so much more. you have to listen to this before you travel so you can avoid some of the mistakes that we made, but also have an idea on the beautiful things to also look forward to. we hope u enjoy!
hustle culture is more toxic than you think
hustle culture is prevalent in so many big cities, but have you ever experienced it in new york city? in this episode, we talk about the mental pressure of being in a city that emphasizes the grind and competing with one another, and with the added on layer of being from a south asian family that promotes the same hustle. we are both fasting so we're low energy in this one, but still hope u enjoy regardless!! :)

things we hated about our culture before we grew up
when we were younger, we didn't understand or truly appreciate the unique parts of our cultures. we'd get annoyed if we had a dawat (gathering) to attend every weekend or if we were put into music or dance classes. but now that we're older, we have a newfound appreciation for these beautiful things that make our bangladeshi culture so unique. u guys also sent in your responses on what makes your background so different so we hope u enjoy :)

how to stop taking criticism so personally
inspired by my boxing coach violating me for my subpar boxing skills, this solo episode is on handling criticism :/ being criticized is something i've always had difficulty accepting, but as we all know is vital to our growth and development. south asians can struggle with it the most cus of the insufficient ways we've been critizied by our family/community growing up, so my story is not unique, but surely one we can all relate to. tap in and share thoughts! keep tabs on us: our instagram: https://www.instagram.com/difficultish/ our youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCITGvzBnzyExvMPh7EGqCzQ mohuya's instagram: https://www.instagram.com/labyrinthave/ mashnun's instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mashnunmunir/
simplifying the process of making female friends as an adult
we get it, it's hard to make friends as adults. especially as girls, we were taught to always compete with other girls and gossip where it feels impossible to find true girlfriends in your 20s. in this solo episode, mohuya talks about how to find and maintain those female friends when you move out of your hometown or outgrow old friendships. this episode is peak girlhood and i hope this video finds u in the algorithm if you're also on the same boat of trying to find ur people :) keep tabs on us: our instagram: https://www.instagram.com/difficultish/

embarrassing high school stories that altered our brain chemistries
ever had a 'cringey' moment in high school that you could never say out loud? well us too, except we're gonna tell you because we can laugh about it now and so you don't feel as alone. we got stories ranging from doing 5 talent shows in one sitting just to look cool in front of our classmates to buying the same prom dress as someone else, and everything else in between. high school is such a small portion in our lives, so there's no point to delve on the past when there's so much more look forward to. we hope u enjoy!!

taking that risk + fighting complacency in your 20s
what we learned about money in our 20s
growing up, we didn't have too much financial literacy and knowledge on credit cards, 401Ks, how to actually save up, healthy spending habits, and things related to money. we had to kinda learn about money the hard way by making mistakes and researching it on our own. in this episode, we're going to share some of our top lessons and advice about money so that you don't have to go through the same thing that we did. hope u enjoy!! keep tabs on us: our instagram: https://www.instagram.com/difficultish/

y'all LOVED part one of this, so we had to come back stronger with part two of relationship red flags that you have to be wary of. this includes avoiding extreme mama's boys, guys that pay for everything just so they can have control over you, girls who have unsupportive friends, and also people who use too much social media...????some of these are also quite common in traditional, south asian relationships so cue the hot takes in this episode...t y'all need to listen before you commit to any relationship or even a friendship. enjoy! keep tabs on us: our instagram: https://www.instagram.com/difficultish/

what's the american dream for POC's?
we always hear about 'the american dream' and how our parents moved across the world and sacrificed their livelihoods for us to achieve this ideal life. but it wasn't until we got older where we realized that our versions of the american dream is completely different than what we saw on western media and also what our parents expected of us. it's not really about having a white picket fence and it's not really about becoming a doctor to help our parents' reputation, but something completely different. so let's talk about it.. what is the american dream for POC's and south asians? hope u enjoy this episode and as always, pls share your thoughts!! :)

why do brown people strive for white approval?
hot topic for the first of 2024!! why do brown people feel the need to always please white people, and have the desire the satisfy them? we were inspired by a tiktok by @azitatoprahman who spoke about witnessing a ton of brown influencers and creators who built their platforms on the basis of being brown but have now been silent about what’s happening in 🍉. in this episode, we talk about where we’ve fell victim trying to please white people, brown on brown hatred, and how advocating for representation comes with responsibilities. listen to have a good day!!

the art of detachment + learning to love the journey
last episode of the year!! a lot has been going on and a lot has been on our minds so we wanted to spend this episode sharing a bit bout things we find ourselves closely attached to, how we end up with so much on our shoulders, and learning the process of detachment. whether its detaching ourselves from being so result driven, from family expectations, or just any external source that has too much control over us, the art of detachment is powerful and one that all south asians should practice. this one's kinda all over the place, but we hope you can take something out of our ramblings and have it mean something special! happy new year ily

opening up bout our adhd + ocd
mental health is a huge brush stroke topic that we hit on every now and then, but we finally chose to spend an episode talking bout how the two of us learned bout our own diagnosed (and ongoing diagnosing) mental health conditions. even though this kinda stuff can be tough to talk about we know it can be super relatable for our listeners and we should celebrate more normalized conversations bout it in the first place!! mashnun talks about his adhd, mohuya talks about her ocd, and we share the signs and symptoms we recognized that pushed us towards diagnosis. we hope you enjoy and we hope you're taking of your mental health most importantly

in this episode, we talk about some of the negative experiences we've had as Muslims in a post 9/11 society. this includes taking off the hijab in elementary school, getting randomly checked at the airport, seeing false stereotypes in media, and so much more. these experiences are sensitive and still relevant today, especially in the climate of the world and islamophobia spreading even more, and we wanted to bring awareness to the severity of the issue. hope u enjoy the paan segment towards the end and our conversations!!

ep 100 is approaching!!!! we wanted to do a final q+a before our 100th episode for any new listeners that have joined the fam, or old listeners that have had questions are stuff we don't usually answer on the pod. why did we start the pod? what the heck does labyrinthave even mean? how did we tell our parents we're pursuing creative careers? what would you tell your 18 year old self? all answered in this episode, plus some very special news.....
how south asians celebrate their bdays + our traumatizin bday stories lol
there are the birthdays that we grew up watching on tv, and then the birthdays that we grew up actually living.... we already know that the infamous tradition for many south asian families is fake feeding cake for the pictures for every birthday celebration, but on top of that, we got gifted gold, had parties with only our parents friends, or got celebrated differently because of our position in the family. with our birthdays coming up in august, we wanted to talk about our experiences growing up and what we wanna do different now that we're getting older. hope u enjoy!!

south asian culture shocks living in the west
as south asian kids who grew up in america, we faced A LOT of culture shocks and rude awakenings when going out into the real world. some may be just pronouncing VERY easy words wrong, not getting allowances every week, using an oven as storage, or wearing house sandals instead of outside shoes inside the home. this is a jam packed episode filled with funny experiences where we just felt DUMB for some of the cultural things we grew up with and seeing how people operate in the west. hope u enjoy!

how POCs celebrate wins vs. non POCs
hi hi hi! in this episode, we dissect the different ways that we've celebrated accomplishments as children of immigrants versus some of the culture shocks we've faced when other groups celebrate. whether it's putting the cap and gown on our immigrant parents when we graduate or buying them a house with our big boy jobs, it's just interesting to see the stark disparity in celebration. even with all these wins, it still doesn't feel like we get acknowledged and appreciated for our hard work as children of immigrants because success was always expected. buckle up because we got a lot to talk about in this one.

first and foremost, thank you apple podcasts from putting our faces on the browse page highlights for aapi month!!! we're honored to be some of the creators you've chosen to celebrate this month, and for that, we wanted to spend an episode talking bout how aapi month means to us, what are takes are on who's represented this month and why, and in what ways we hope to see the recognition improve and expand as time goes on. we speak for all of us when we say that asians are immensely thankful to be celebrated, but there's much better than we can do than what we have today.
whether it's more emphasis on the history of asians in america, celebrating more than just yoga and spices, or just being more educated on the lesser-represented countries, we talk about all of that and so much more so listen rn!!

becoming financially literate-ish + money tips for south asians
hello hello!! for this episode, we’re revisiting a topic we spoke on a year ago about our journeys towards financial independence! money is a touchy subject for a lot of south asians, especially the ones that don’t come from the most favorable upbringings. from recognizing early how important money is, to balancing multiple jobs, to making a bunch of mistakes along the way, we get real transparent with what we’ve learned about financial literacy, our advice on saving/investing, and so much more but you have to listen rn to know!!!

what south asian men can do better 2/2
only a back to back episode on what south asian men can do better in the community is on difficultish :p in this weeks continuation, we talk more in depth about some of the stereotypical roles that men have and what they can do to support women. this includes unlearning misogynistic mindsets, allowing and being happy that their wives are earning more money, or literally just learning how to cook. enjoy!!

what south asian men can do better 1/2
this episode is WELL overdue! we talk about the traditional role that south asian men play in our culture and the learned helplessness that they have when it comes to a lot of matters that become the woman's responsibility. we talk very extensively about all of the responses that you all sent about what south asian men can do better to support women and just be better individuals.... and there were A LOT. this is a very funny and needed episode so you will not regret listening. and remember, we're not talking about all men, but if the shoe fits...

entrepreneurship, navigating failure, and building kolkata chai co w/ ani sanyal
ani sanyal (@anihustles) is the real deal. he embodies true entrepreneurship to the core, from the mindset, to the action, to everything in between, and he's our special guest for today's pod! ani is the co-founder of nyc-based kolkata chai co and run several 6 and 7 fig businesses, but he's lived through a rollercoaster of a life to gain the wisdom and expertise that he's gifted us in this episode.
growing up in massachusetts, ani shares his battle with identity and connection to hip hop culture, which built the tenets he continues to live by. soon after graduating from nyu just to quit his 9-5 after, he lived by the dollar to pursue his dreams as an artist and record label owner, being invited to tour overseas where he faced real adversity with end-stage kidney failure.
his story is inspirational to everyone from the commoner to the most wise, and we hope u enjoy this convo as much as we did :)
