Welcome to Digital (Gold) Dust
Thanks for tuning in to this episode of the Digital (Gold) Dust episode with Web Designer Sammy Phillips and Copywriter Lea Tierney. It was great to have you with us as we talked through the different paths that lead to becoming a conscious creative, what it means to run your own heart-led business and why WHO and WHY are the cornerstones of the transformative work we do. We also introduced the common threads that connect us, bind us with our clients and that’ll be running through this podcast: kinship, intention, alignment, creativity, freedom and integrity.
In this inaugural discussion, we highlighted:
- That showing up loud and proud as an online business owner can be hard. And when you work with someone like us, we can see the shimmer, where the magic happens in your business and can bring that forward. That's how you connect with your clients. It's a real hurdle for people to get over.
- How Sammy crafts mission-led websites that really connect independent business owners and practitioners to their communities.
- How Lea helps overwhelmed and frustrated heart-led business owners with an aversion to selling to attract more of their clients through intentional storytelling.
- Why we feel like living life on your own terms in your own version of success, is the most important thing.
- How we got here. Having both come out of the corporate world with an entirely different view of what we were going to be doing, which was a common thread for us.
- The importance of being able to express myself in life and work - not having to show up as a different person.
- Falling out of love with marketing with capital M. The ick, the discomfort and the hard selling. The feeling that you have to be on social media all the time.
- Why being able to combine something that you love to do, that you're passionate about, with the outcome of serving other people and helping them with their missions is The Dream.
- A really important part of the journey that not everybody does disclose is, “I tried this, and it didn't work”, or, “I'm really passionate about this, but actually, that doesn't work as a career.”
- How we felt frustrated, limited within the corporate structure of somebody dictating our worth, what we’re able to do and where we’re able to go and needing to break out of that. And how the pandemic gave that chance to break free and where our stories converged.
- That we're both self-taught on the job, learning through experience. We’ve both been through the university system and both went into the corporate world. And now we're very much forming our own pathway, to be able to express ourselves more fully, and to show up as ourselves fully in the world.
- It can be quite overwhelming when you're launching your business, and you have this sort of new identity. That's where our work becomes so important to help other business owners that might not be feeling connected and aligned with their branding, the visual representation of their business, their messaging, and that's so critical to building that confidence, to share your services, your products, whatever you're doing with the world, and that's what we want, we want that change, don't we?
