3.14: I Don't Give a Crap About The Stupid Labels - Turnip Mashed Potatoes
We start with our Christmas tree traditions and end with how creative expansion is blowing up the world's systems. Yep, it was quite a night around the Dinner Table. Add in an unexpected guest and we're recording during 'the nightcap period' of the night where Aislynn can 'say anything.' And she says plenty! 3.12: It's Been An Interesting Week - Friendsgiving 2021
It's been an interesting week starting with a trip to San Antonio that didn't go according to any plan, into a HUGE Friendsgiving/housewarming party. A foodie event at our house with the best vibe, fire, music, friends and fun that you can imagine, and concluding with a CBD-infused multi-course dinner party from a great friend/chef. Did we mention the fast track to get rabbits? Did we mention getting 10 new chickens? Did we mention Aislynn's classes, that her onions came in, that she had a local menu name a farm-to-table dish after her, and that Joe's planning the first farm movie night? Yeah, it's been an interesting week! Unanswered Questions: More about Grey Gardens Random Question of the Week: We wrap up our Movies to Be Buried With series of questions with: What Movie Makes You Laugh The Most?

3.11: Help Us Name the Chickens - Tomato Basil Soup
An escaping dog, a new robot vacuum cleaner, saying 'No,' and a chicken naming contest is just the beginning this week on a very introspective Dinner Table Talks. Aislynn's business is taking off and she's practicing NOvember while Joe has an emotional awakening at a funeral. We revisit how we want to be dealt with when we go one year after Aislynn said, 'I want you to dig me a hole and set me on fire," and that's when Joe put together the relationship with his father's memorial service and a funeral he attended this week. We are on a solar cycle of repeating behaviors! Will Joe ever cook again (ignoring that he did)? Aislynn's mom to the rescue with some amazing tomato basil soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. A simple meal, sure, but that soup!...mmmmmmmm. No wonder Joe asked for the recipe.

Our move to the farm is complete after a marathon garage sale at the old house. Aislynn's pressure release valve goes off after her latest Long Lunch Club and the food was incredible. Tack on a visit to a new sushi restaurant, our thoughts on life since the 2020 election, gray in Joe's beard  and being just in time for the chicken sex, and you've got some Dinner Table Talks for the ages.

We're leaning in, y'all! Our lifestyle is the show so forget ever hearing us justify talking about chickens (or anything else) ever again! Of course we're talking chickens...when we're kind of chicken house right now. Where are our eggplants? Why aren't there enough ribs to share? Why is Aislynn cooking more often? These are lifestyle questions and we answer them all along with pho straight from heaven, the movies that make us cry, selling tea and so much more. Pull up a chair! We have a lot to talk about!

3.06: Maybe We Don't Talk About Our Failures Over and Over - Yellow Curry
What a weird episode! Aislynn throws Joe off of his Yellow Curry talk by being honest about the Curry Challenge (or Curry Journey) thus far. Joe details the yellow curry prep, but they have a frank conversation about where this journey should go. Aislynn returns to the Farmers' Market she created to sell her produce and talks about the 'full circle' of it all.

3.03: No Nimrods At This Table - Crispy Curry Chicken Wings and Fries
A super-sized, long and winding road awaits you this week at The Dinner Table! Moving is a transition, and we work through some of the transitions we're all going through while reflecting on the 'new' of the farm. The Curry Challenge continues with Crispy Curry Chicken Wings and Curry Fries which may have underwhelmed just because the kitchen is new and Joe's...well...transitioning into the new kitchen. We collected our chickens from the old house, lose one for a day, and then get a new rooster: Nimrod! Then it's rabbit holes all over the place with journeys into setting new energetic standards, posters on the wall, dress code inequality, wonderful memories of a dairy farm visit, collecting materials to build greenhouses, Joe's first visit to his new grocery store, and just about everything else. 2.5: Long Distance Chicken Enchiladas - Milk and Marijuana
Long Distance Chicken Enchiladas - The Pizza Crust Challenge Begins - DTT Ethics Council Meeting - Crushed Red Pepper - Planning The Oyster Boil Support the Show: The Virtual Tip Jar "Goodbye, Charleston. Hello, back to normal."  If normal means planting, sending the boys another recipe, getting into a 'spirited debate,' accepting a challenge, and going to space. After not talking about the recent Presidential debate, Joe texts the boys another cheap (for them) meal to get in touch with their own home cooking: Salsa Verde Chicken Enchiladas. The Dinner Table Talks Ethics Council comes to order as Aislynn and Joe have a 'spirited debate' to choose the next entry. Another DTT Challenge begins when Joe dips his toe in grain-free pizza crusts. Egg yolk spectrum, too much pepper, having to repeat oneself and so much more. Unanswered Questions: Aislynn's been getting questions about raw milk. What's in an oyster shooter? TableTopics Question: Would you travel into space if you could? 2.4: Steamed Oysters - I'm So Full of Joy Like a Child
Steamed Oysters - AIslynn's Trip to Charleston, SC - Raw Oysters - Lamb Pâté - Magnolia Plantation Tour - The Obstinate Daughter Support the Show: The Virtual Tip Jar  Aislynn and her mom take an impromptu trip to Charleston, SC, and we're along for the ride. Joe asks, simply, "What did you eat? What did you drink? What did you see? What did you learn?" And she answered them all.  Unanswered Questions: How much does sperm cost? Does Farmers' Market cheese have added mold inhibitors? Did Joe buy block or grated cheese? Backyard TV: Joe plant-sits for Aislynn while she's gone TableTopics Question: Would you repackage a gift in a  trendy store box to lead a friend to believe you'd purchased it there? 2.3: Mediterranean Feast - More Rare Than Medium
Mediterranean Feast: Greek Steak Salad, Baba Ganoush, Basil Hummus - Healing Trauma - Steak, Baked Potato, and Salad - Touring a Local Dairy Farm Support the Show: The Virtual Tip Jar After celebrating the 21st birthday of her son, Aislynn takes us on a trip to Knolle Dairy Farm starting with a baby cow on the porch. She rustles cattle, visits the birthing room, and explains why and how the Knolles shifted from an old-school dairy farming model toward newer, more-ethical methods. After offending all 'basic food eaters,' we do it our way with a beef-heavy week at The Dinner Table. Joe details how he makes a steak, ignores Aislynn's furrowed brow and Aislynn declares her love of baked potatoes. A DTT repeat: our homemade ranch dressing. Later, Aislynn cons Joe into making a Mediterranean feast with baba ganoush, basil hummus, and Greek steak salad. WIth teens around The Dinner Table often, sex is a topic that comes up from time to time. Nothing's off-limits at The Table and who better to equip the kids with the information they need? More females have experienced trauma than we, as a country, want to talk about and Aislynn leads us into a deep conversation about healing that trauma individually and as part of the universal collective that requires that healing.  Unanswered Questions: What is the additive in shredded cheese that keeps it from caking? TableTopics Question: What is the biggest extravagance you've purchased for yourself? 2.2: Chicken Noodle Soup - Bidi Bidi Dum Dum
Chicken Noodle Soup - Revisiting Masala - Morals v. Ethics - Hashing Out Freedom Harvest Island Support the Show - The Virtual Tip Jar Joe opens the show crapping on himself (a new fetish) by pointing out when he slips into his 'radio voice.' That moves us into a conversation about Joe and Aislynn's propensity to steal all the 'conversation oxygen' in the room. Joe cooks a chicken and Savannah uses half to cook us fettucini alfredo and Joe makes a delicious pot of chicken noodle soup with the rest. Later in the week, Joe revisited the masala from S1E51 adding some butternut squash puree ("what would happen?"). What happened was a delicious marriage of excellent Indian flavors and local food. Selena comes up for the first time in the show in TableTopics. Freedom Harvest Island: We revisit the FHI concept by hashing out some of the things that we weren't in agreement with last week leading to a DTT about masculine/feminine power, balance, and getting our bubbles united. Unanswered Questions: Brainstorming the UQ Stinger - Bird Calls How did early man learn what to eat without dying or getting sick? Learned behavior and using our senses. What do our college boys spend on food out when they're strapped for cash? TableTopics Question (From the 'General' Pack): What would you like to know about the future? 2.1: Long Distance Sausage - We Can Do Anything
Season 2 Premiere - Cooking College Sausage - Freedom Harvest Island - Aislynn's Writing a Speech - Red Light/Green Light Support the Show - The Virtual Tip Jar It's our Season Two opener. An evolutionary moment where you hear the Dinner Table Talks you know and love, but with a whole lot of new. Like the notion of spreading the Dinner Table to our boys up at college. Joe photo-journaled how to make a quick-and-easy sausage taco meal for $7 a person which leads to a conversation about local food and budgeting. Like the journey for a new Unanswered Question sound effect when Joe has no direction leading to a conversation about red light/green light/yellow light(?) coasters on the bedstand. Like Queen Aislynn choosing 150 people for a Fury Road-style hippie, peace-and-love commune. Like the all-new Dinner Table Talks Code of Ethics (if you want to emulate us). Like Friends with Benefits COMING SOON! And we're just warming up. Thank you for listening as we launch a whole new season of Dinner Table Talks. Unanswered Questions: How do you pronounce Garam Masala? What is mace (the spice)? Backyard TV: Aislynn's giving a speech at TEDxColePark about her backyard garden as a sanctuary. 1.13: I'll Tell You My Pathway Out of This Horror
We love talking music with our kids. We influence them and, even better, they influence us. We talk about why we knew the words to every 90s country song that came on at the BBQ place and the two stop process that broke that horrible lapse in judgment. That leads us into a talk about Tyler the Creator, Drake, booing and then you know how it goes...we talk about everything else. Homemade ranch dressing, Saturday Night Live when you were in high school, mercurial swordfish, tilapia feedback, soy lecithin, how Joe fries, the outside of the grocery store, Jester King and La Vie en Rose, kimchi, squash blossoms, making love to cast iron, Asian soup, being hipsters, vinyl records at dinner, getting ‘OK, Boomer’-ed, creamy bratwurst and cucumber salad, music memories, Joe’s ‘death row’ meal and Milli Vanilli.
