So let’s do that, together & one step at a time. Follow Jennifer at https://instagram.com/fire_esquire?igshid=2xht4u7qssxf.

Episode 13: Discard Your Unhappy, with Maxine Reyes

Episode 13: Discard Your Unhappy, with Maxine Reyes

Maxine Reyes (@maxinereyestv) is an entrepreneur, coach, combat veteran, wife, mother and accomplished soloist. When it comes to transitions, she has certainly seen her fair share (and gleaned some valuable lessons along the way). Her metamorphosis was a long road that saw required a multitude of life adjustments. She came from Jamaica to the US as a young adult hoping to find her dream, before joining the US Military. She later transitioned from single life to dual military coupledom, to parenthood, and then from military member to veteran to businesswoman - and that’s just to name a few.

Maxine has learned to approach each new echelon of life "with courage and grace" (Be sure to check out her podcast of the same name: https://www.facebook.com/courageandgracepodcast/), and has necessarily discarded timidity along the way. She’s, instead, learned to embrace her vulnerability, ability to compromise, as well as her indelible strength - especially as it relates to relationships of both the business and marital kind.

And, speaking of marriage, Maxine is also one half of Happily Joint (https://happilyjoint.com/), a venture started with husband, Ken, where their primary goal is to help couple "make happiness last". Maxine sat down with me for this DiscardIt Friday and we enjoyed an open and honest discussion about the the ways couples can find and re-establish happiness and commitment through relationship resiliency and how everyone can apply similar concepts to their work partnerships and entrepreneurial pursuits.

Want to connect with Maxine after the episode? Find her on Instagram at @happilyjoint, @maxinereyestv or @courageandgracepodcast.

Episode 11: Discard Darkness - You’ve Been Planted to Produce with Ticora Davis

Ticora Davis, Esq. is an intellectual property advocate, attorney, author, speaker, wife and mother of two. One moment in 2016 set her life on a course she never would have imagined for herself. After God pushed her to overcome a setback that many fear, Ticora shed the idea that she had been buried and, instead, firmly grounded herself and her future in the idea that God had planted her in the soil of success. It worked. Ticora is now known as The Creator’s Lawyer, has worked with brands like Black Enterprise, Rising Tide, VH1, Honeybook, and is hailed as a “thought leader” in the legal community. Her new book, Planted to Produce: 7 Shifts to Activate Your Creative Soul is a revolutionary take on procrastination, productivity, and purpose. Through it, Ticora uncovers the spiritual roots of procrastination, how fear is keeping you from pursuing your God-breathed destiny, and what you can do to push yourself to produce God’s greatness inside of you.
Ticora is also the creator of Business Bakerie. Founded in 2019, Business Bakerie puts the best legal tools and business training into the hands of up-and-coming business owners. Want to learn more about Ms. Davis and get connected to her and her endeavors? Start here:

Episode 8: I’m Going Back to Africa with Jewel Thompson

They say people can tell a lot about you, by those you call friends. If that’s the case, I’m so grateful that Jewel Thompson is part of my circle. She is currently Assistant Lecturer of Business at Ashesi University in Ghana, Africa - but how she got there is where today’s story lies. You’ve been pining for a vacation since coronavirus reared it’s ugly head. Buckle up, because we’re definitely taking you on a trip...of faith and learning not to work just to work, but to work with purpose and to LIVE. In this episode when I speak of going back to Africa, I mean that literally...and figuratively. It’s time to go back to where you came from...to release the negative energy, the self-doubt, the rat race and get back to the root of who you are.

Episode 7 (Bonus): Discard Racism

A couple of people have asked me if I’m okay. I’ve said yes. I lied. If you’re anything like me, your feelings may mirror mine. Here’s what’s really going on - and how you can keep your strength from failing in the midst of the storm. Our regularly scheduled episode will still air on Friday. John 4:20, ESV: "If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen."
