A New Chapter: Introducing Manifold
This reorganization is several years in the making, and the goal is to create what we call a perpetual machine for value creation.
I thought it would make sense to bring in one of my partners Joe Dwyer to talk about the rationale behind the change, as well as how we got here. Joe is a fellow professor in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship program at Northwestern, and is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. The conversational is in-depth, perhaps somewhat controversial in places, but I think you’ll find his perspective super interesting.

Stop Punishing the Innovators
Digital Intent partner and former Harvard Business School professor John Sviokla recently held the first of a series of workshops on growth and innovation in 2021. His guest was Robert Spivey, Director of Research at Valens Research, and the discussion was around how to stop punishing innovators.
Most breakthrough innovations take five years to achieve anything resembling scale. But most business cases are 3 years or less, and most corporate tenures are 5 years or less. Not necessarily a recipe for success. So John and Robert discuss a couple approaches to fix this, drawing on insights from a 25,000 company global database on financial performance.
