S1E8. The Disappearance of Asha Degree

In the early morning hours of February 14, 2000, and for reasons unknown, 9 year old Asha Degree packed her bookbag, left her family home north of the city and began walking along nearby North Carolina Highway 18 despite heavy rain and wind. Several passing motorists saw her; when one turned around and began to approach her to see if she needed help, she left the roadside and ran into a wooded area. In the morning, her parents discovered her absence. No one has seen Asha since.

Pam had a baffling experience at a stop light when a car safely stopped a few feet behind her and yet she felt a jolt and intense pain as if the car had slammed into her. She also recalls a strong smell of gasoline. Followed by feelings of her mom getting a call that she had been killed in a car accident. Did she die in an alternate universe?

Melissa had a disturbing encounter when a stranger in a red truck tried to get her to pull over, then followed her 45 miles to an exit where he parked and stared at her. she would later find out a man had been stalking people on that stretch of highway in a red truck and had committed at least 1 murder. She feels he was a serial killer.

Deborah Sykes was last seen in Rathdrum, Idaho on February 13, 2005. According to her husband, he went to the grocery store in the morning while she was still in bed, and when he returned, she was gone. She apparently took off her wedding ring and left her house on foot, leaving her purse and all her belongings behind. I spoke with Deborah's son Justin about her case and the circumstances surrounding it.

Kathy Kleiner was asleep in her Florida sorority house, Chi Omega, in 1978 when the notorious serial killer Ted Bundy broke in and brutalized her and her roomate. Bundy had killed sorority sisters Margarette Bowman and Lisa Levy as well. He fled the sorority house and immediately broke into a duplex up the street and attacked Cheryl Thomas, leaving her in a coma. Kathy testified against Bundy at his trial. I spoke with Kathy Kleiner about the attack, the trial and the aftermath.
