Embrace La Música

By Dominique Dynes

“Embrace la Música” is a place where we talk about what’s like being married to someone from a completely different culture, living in a place that neither of us grew up in, being a working mom, constantly fighting or accepting cultural norms and all the things that keep us afloat, which includes a lot of heart and humility, so let’s “Embrace La Música” today.

Ep 63: Learning about Yourself through Design and Travel with Jenica Flores

Join us today to learn from @jgiovanna Jenica Flores is a friend and passionate designer who goes beyond the surface level design and really gets to know her clients and who they are as she brings her expertise and worldwide experience into each and every room she decorates along with a fun cocktail to match the decor.

Please listen to today's vulnerable episode that goes so much deeper than design as we dive into IVF failure, connections to Afghanistan, living apart from her spouse for an unexpected amount of time and what life looks like as we reflect on our space and style.

"While traveling you learn so much about other people and about yourself. I learned that I am stronger than I ever thought I was. It was a great experience overall, but it was hard in the moment being isolated. I was awake when my family was asleep, it was hard staying in touch." - Jenica

She also gives us tangible tips to implement today and enjoys our house and design even more!

Episode 40: Clearing the Clutter

Episode 40: Clearing the Clutter

In this episode, Dominique talks about the tangible benefits of getting rid of clutter in our homes and organizing the untouched corners. Once we start cleaning one area of our houses, it is contagious and we start to work on other areas as well. The same can be said for our mental and emotional health. As we start to work on personal development, clearing away the clutter or the distractions, it becomes contagious.

Dominique also talks about authenticity in this episode. "If we spend our time trying to be like someone else, we are wasting our time. The world doesn’t need you to try to be someone else, the universe is inviting YOU to show up as yourself.

That’s the greatest invitation for authenticity that exists, friends. It’s easy to hide behind the clutter, it’s easy to show our highlight reels on social media, it’s easy to check the things off your to-do list as you go through the motions day by day.

It’s harder to clear away the clutter, to allow yourself to rest in who you are, to ask the universe or God, to give you what you truly want. Oftentimes, we feel as though we don’t deserve our dreams. We aren’t worthy of asking for more or taking those risks on ourselves.

I’m here, kicking off the New Year with all of you friends, inviting you to show up as yourself. To clear away the clutter in your mind, in your life that distracts you from your purpose or your passions. Inviting you to make time for yourself.

The world needs you, not you trying to be someone else."

Episode 35: Holding onto your Faith and Healing while Creating Art with Kimberly McDaniel

Episode 35: Holding onto your Faith and Healing while Creating Art with Kimberly McDaniel

In this episode, breast cancer survivor and artist Kimberly McDaniel tells us her story of overcoming the news that nobody ever wants to hear, raising boys, making art and helping others along their journey.

This episode is a must-listen for all women as it reminds us to not "put off" the important appointments that can help us detect cancer early and show up to fight if need be. Kimberly is truly a warrior and fought cancer with a smile throughout the entire time.

She encourages everyone around her with her positive attitude and shares her love for color, art and appreciation of beauty on her
instagram account. You too will want to move to Mexico after scrolling through her feed.

As she mentions on the episode, it's so important to give to breast cancer research. So many women are still dying today because there's not enough research to know how to treat all types of cancer.

If you, like Kimberly, have some dreams and are trying to figure out how to chase them and make them a reality whether it's writing a book, selling your art, creating your business, making more time for yourself - you need to join us! The December Expat Entrepreneur Alliance is open for registration and the community opens its doors on December 1st! Sign up today!

Episode 31: Trusting the Timing of It All with Serei Jeppesen

Episode 31: Trusting the Timing of It All with Serei Jeppesen

From Canada to Peru to Mexico, Serei Jeppesen inspires us all with her stories about planting potatoes,  going back to school to work in education, and pursuing her passion of styling hair while waiting for the right timing of it all.

Serei tells her own story about growing up without any aunts, uncles, or grandparents as her mother was one of the many children in Canada taken away from indigenous parents at young ages to be placed in foster care. I first learned of this part of Canada's history only a year ago and was shocked to know this happened in the 1960's. That is not that long ago and the consequences on thousands of people is still playing out today as Serei touches on while sharing this vulnerable part of her own journey.

As a friend, Serei is one of the most thoughtful people I know and she constantly makes me laugh, which she did today on the episode as well sharing the realities of working from home with kids. She also challenged us all to trust the timing of things and not try to go after everything at once as much as we want to make things happen on our timeline.

This podcast Embrace La Musica exists to empower and encourage other women,so my sincere hope is that you listen to each episode, you too feel inspired and appreciative for the women in your life.

Episode 23: Back to School from a Teacher's Perspective with Ms. Jacqueline Endres

As kids are heading back to virtual school this week in Mexico and many have already started classes around the world whether it's virtual or face-to-face in some parts, I wanted to interview one of my best friends who is a teacher in this unprecedented time.

Jacqueline Endres is going into her 15th year of teaching and is currently in a pre-first classroom, which as she explains in the podcast, is an additional year between kindergarten and first grade for students at our bilingual school to give them some extra time to really learn both languages at a young age. Jacque shares why she loves teaching in Mexico and though left once to get her Master's and teach for a while in Phoenix, moved back to Guadalajara.

Jacque is not only a passionate and brilliant educator, she's a mom to two boys, so she shares with us some of the struggle being a working mom, teaching her classes online while also trying to help her boys get online for theirs. I love Jacque's heart so much and am constantly impressed by her perseverance and ability to do hard things.

Enjoy today's episode as we all head back to school with Ms. Jacque.

Episode 21: The Next Right Thing

We may not know where the road is taking us, we may not know exactly how we are going to make our dreams come true, but each and every one of us can do the next right thing in our story, whatever it looks like for each of us today.

Today's episode is reflective on all the unlearning I've had to do as a woman and as someone who grew up in a small church and community. I've had to learn that I can use my voice and speak up despite the fact that I was taught to be silent and that I should aspire to be selfless.

At the end, I share some exciting news about a new chapter in my life, take a listen and let me know if you relate to anything I had to say today.

As always, with heart and humility, hoping to encourage someone today.
