Do More Movement presents Why We Move #14 Martin Petrus

Hello and welcome back to Why We Move the podcast from Do More Movement where we get to the reasons why inspirational movers and shakers do what they do.

For this the final episode of S2 I spoke with Martin Petrus, breathwork and meditation coach.

I first met Martin, along with Artur Paulins (see episode #7), when he was leading a Wim Hof Method workshop. His knowledge and passion lit a fire in me that burns to this day. I have trained under Martin numerous times since and his expertise in the area of breathwork are wide ranging.

We spoke about the different types of breathwork, what each means to him and how his journey has changed him over the years since he took up a breathwork practice.

As always, if you enjoy the session, please do share with friends and family and leave a review as it really does help get the pod out to more people.

Do More Movement presents Why We Move #11 Jess Robson

Do More Movement presents Why We Move #11 Jess Robson

Hello and welcome back to Why We Move.

For this episode I had a chat with Jess Robson, runner and founder of Run Talk Run, a now international mental health support community.

In our chat, Jess talks about how the community she has built up around her running, which has manifested itself into Run Talk Run, is her motivation to keep moving but how that wasn’t always the case.

She discusses how she used running to counter bulimia in her late teens and that the sense of pride and belief in herself that running gave her spurred her on.

The deeply personal reasons that got her started have morphed into the inspiring community that is Run Talk Run, which offers a safe space for people to access mental health support. Needed now more than ever.

I hope you enjoy the episode and if you’re needing a space to talk, do check out Run Talk Run for a local event.

In our conversation we talk about how his calm approach to what can be a brutal sport has helped him on and off the mat. What training under someone who is at the top of their sport teaches you and a lot more.

I hope you enjoy the chat and as always please do share and get in touch with your thoughts.

Do More Movement presents Why We Move #9 Pippa Richardson

Do More Movement presents Why We Move #9 Pippa Richardson

Hello and welcome to the first episode of the second series of Why We Move.

For this chat I had a virtual sit down with Pippa Richardson, a Body Awareness Therapist and Yoga Teacher.

I have been taught by, trained with and coached Pippa since we met several years ago, after I attended one of her classes. Her mindful approach completely altered the way I thought and continue to think about the practice of yoga and movement more generally.

In our conversation we talk about the practicalities and difficulties of connecting mind and body, that much talked about but often seemingly impossible to reach state. We discuss how moving your body can impact you on a deep and personal level and how new forms of movement often come at just the right time if you’ve got an open mind and willingness to try new things.

Recorded over Zoom during Lockdown, there are a few moments of dodgy sound quality, so apologies about that. As always, if you enjoy the episode please do share and spread the love.
