Edward Scissorhands (1990): "Avon calling!"
Once upon a time there was this movie we all kinda liked - it was about a boy with scissors for hands. Hands? Scissors? NO stupid, scissor hands! It's the tale of an inventor (Vincent Price) who only makes three things: cookies, companions out of machinery, and the good decision to dip early by dropping dead at the very beginning. Many years pass before before struggling Avon lady, Peg (Dianne Wiest) decides to do a lil' B&E on the spooky mansion on top of the hill at the end of the cul-de-sac where she meets Edward Scissorhands (Johnny Depp) and makes the fateful decision to take him home with her. In suburbia, he finds it difficult to fit in, but that is probably because everyone that lives here is awful; none more so than local THOT Joyce (Kathy Baker) who will stop at nothing to get scissored in the back of a salon. Unfortunately for her, Ed has his big sad eyes turned to Peg's trash daughter Kim (Winona Ryder) who, along with her meat head boyfriend Jim (Anthony Michael Hall) break his little incel heart and drive him right back up the hill to a lifetime of seclusion and longing. This movie sucks y'all - Edward Scissorhands, this time on Doom Generation. Support this show at patreon.com/doomgeneration

Earth Girls Are Easy (1988): "Are we limp and hard to manage?"
We are so lucky to have landed in the Valley, the baddest place on Earth! When Valerie's (Geena Davis) tanning is disturbed by a spaceship full of furry aliens (Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey, and Damon Wayans) in her pool, the only solution is to call Woody the pool guy (Michael McKean) and her best friend Candy (Julie Brown) for help. Hijinx and musical numbers abound as we discover that split ends are universal, what a great makeover can do for you, and that a Dr. Love personalized license plate is a red flag. Put on your convertible hat and don't leave without a margarita. Try not to curl up and dye when we tell you that THE Miss Julie Brown herself gave us some bonus tea for this episode. An ad for her new podcast "Just Say Julie" is also featured in this episode. Find her show here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpbbGaMktP8UrXFxZDuwvGg We get our first "Yearbook Signings"! Stay tuned after the outro for the first "Invasion of the Pod People", showcasing our favorite fellow indie pods! The Care Bears Movie (1985): "Niiicholaaaasssss"
Wow, did we really do this? Yeah, we did. We taint this beloved American Greetings childhood classic with our brand of Doom. Come with us while we spirit a couple of unattended orphans to Care-A-Lot. We experience casual teleportation, surly little orphans, magical books, and one Canadian child who cannot care. Journey down a forgotten river, to forgotten lands, to meet some forgotten cousins who must all unite to defeat an eyebrow monster and its bald, book headed master. We lose count of how many times we say "Nicholas" and question how furries were not a thing in the 80's while talking about one of our earliest core memories, The Care Bears Movie. Follow us on instagram @doomegenerationpod for pics of our very own Care Bear childhood treasures!
