Episode 142: Nugget of Wisdom, Living Your Values.

Episode 142: Nugget of Wisdom, Living Your Values.

Welcome to another edition of "Nugget of Wisdom," a weekly email series I share on Fridays, designed to provide you with a moment of thoughtful reflection as you step into the weekend. In the spirit of perpetual learning, consider this: What purpose does today serve if we don't glean at least one valuable lesson from it?  I invite you to embrace the joy of discovering something new each day, as I believe it nourishes our minds and enriches our lives. Speaking of lessons, let's draw inspiration from the timeless tale of Joseph. I've included a brief, engaging 6-minute video story above for your viewing pleasure. Afterward, take a moment to reflect on the following: ⭐️ Aligning Actions with Values: Consider the significance of your values, such as loyalty. How actively do you manifest these values in your daily life? Reflect on instances where your commitment to these values is evident – be it in a single day, throughout the week, or even across the span of a month. ⭐️ Balancing Humility and Ambition: Delve into the concept of humility and its delicate dance with envisioning and pursuing your aspirations. How do you strike a balance between staying humble and reaching for what is possible? Reflect on the role of uncertainty in your journey – how does the unknown shape your perspective and actions? I encourage you to watch the video and ponder these questions, fostering a deeper understanding of your values and aspirations. Wishing you a weekend filled with discovery and enlightenment! Until next time, Enjoy your weekend.

And don't forget--Be Positive, Be Yourself, Be the Champion You Want to See!

Episode 139: What Else Can Go Wrong? 4 Tips to Sharpen Your Resilience

Oh My! Did I have a bad day this week? I created this video above as a learning for me, and perhaps for you if you need a dose of resilience! What is resilience? The ability to recover from failures or setbacks quickly. Recover from a negative state of mind to a positive state. Recover from saboteur reaction to sage response. Why? well, would you want to stay in this “yukky place” a place where your hand is constantly on the "hot stove"? I really did not want to stay there, because I knew that staying there would impact my wellness (first and foremost), my relationships (with everyone around me), and ultimately my performance. So after a few sessions of PQ. after talking to treasured people and of course having a good night's sleep, I came up with four tips for resilience that I am using based on my research and expertise.  I offer it to you as it may be helpful in your personal life as well as at your workplace.

Episode 136: Then and Now

Episode 136: Then and Now

It has been already a hard long week! And I feel the obligation and the privilege to tell you about it.  To fill you in, just in case you don't know. Or maybe you know what's going on but wanted to hear about it from my perspective. When I left my education position of 16 years, I said I wanted the world to be my classroom and my stage. What I did not envision was that I would use this platform to not only speak about the human potential, to help and inspire others to overcome challenges and to look at their life as an ocean full of opportunities of growth, but I would also be sharing my broken heart in the process. So, you are seeing me today as I am. Totally vulnerable and somewhat emotional. I did have to pause the recording once as I felt that my words could not exit my mouth in a productive way.  I hope that you will see that while it is real and gloomy, it is also “a little bit” hopeful, in the smallest ways possible.

More later! Praying for better days, speedily in our time.

Love to all, Dorice

Episode 134: Delivering a thought for someone else's sake.

Episode 134: Delivering a thought for someone else's sake.

Have you ever spoken to someone thinking “How can I deliver this thought for their sake and not for my sake? How can I say something not to get it off my chest but for the message to be heard by the other person?”

There is something magnificent in finding insights, looking beneath what is written, questioning it, finding new hidden meaning, and coming up with a whole fresh concept. I get totally tickled when I read something I’ve been saying for 1 million years, (yes, I’m that old!) and yet I find a fresh nuance that enters my mind as a flash of insight.

This is the insight I want to share with you today.

I invite you to listen to my 7 min reflection podcast and contemplate:

1️⃣ What are the ways in which you feel at peace? What are the additional feelings when the value of peace is practiced as a daily/weekly habit?

2️⃣ How are you a light to others? When do you feel that you are a light to others and when do you see that light within you?

3️⃣ How are you a blessing to others? What are your blessings? Can you come up with 3 new blessings every day?

Until next time, Enjoy your weekend friends! And don't forget--Be Positive, Be Yourself, Be the Champion You Want to See!

The Last Missing Piece

The Last Missing Piece

How many of you have had an amazing experience that absolutely shocked /surprised/inspired you? Possibly even left you speechless? Maybe something at your work, or an event with your family?

Think of it as if you saw something and the first thought in your head “OHHHH, There is an insight into something I must do.”

What happens next? If you are anything like me, you needed to break it down into bite-size pieces…trying to digest it all.

And then time passes after you have had the chance to digest the big event and you can see how the different pieces fit together.

Now what? What should happen next so you can really hold on to the lessons of the big event and its impact on you and your life moving forward?

⭐️ What is “the last piece,” as I call it??

This is what this podcast is all about. Without that last piece the first two pieces (big event, translated to the small bitesize activities), do not matter. It will not go anywhere. You will forget it.

So take a 6 min break and listen. During the 6 min, I tell a Jewish story with universal meaning to better your life and make your journey more enjoyable.

Totally on brand, don't you think?📣

Once you listen to the last piece- drop me a note with your thoughts. I always love to receive them!

Until next time-

Be Yourself, be positive, be the champion you want to see.

Dorice

Episode 131: A know it all and a surprising turn of events.

Episode 131: A know it all and a surprising turn of events.

Happy Friday everyone!

Do you know a 17-year-old kid who thinks they know everything? Perhaps you have been that 17 years old who thought they knew it all….?? I know there were definitely times I have been that 17 years old…(not proud of it, but you got to call it when you see it…even 40 years later!).

But I was lucky-- no one threw me into a pit and I did not become a slave or a prisoner.

Once you listen to the story in the video above I ask you:

1. What can we learn from the story?

2. What is your view on empathy and forgiveness discussed in this clip?

3. Were there incidents in your life that this video shed light on? What were your learned lessons?

I believe we have the ability to learn from EVERYTHING that happens to us in our lives.

The question is…do we?

Meaningful and fun listening!

Episode 129: Go Forth For Yourself

Episode 129: Go Forth For Yourself

Go Forth for Yourself.… What does that even mean? Have you ever gone forth for Yourself?

What would you do if you were told to “Go Forth?” What would you take with you? How long will it take you to pack and go?

Not thinking about objects but rather attributes and values, what do you believe is necessary to take along?

Dorice was thinking about it this week as she was reading the story of a man who was told to go to a place he did not know…and he went. No questions asked.

In this episode, Dorice talks about the three ingredients to successfully Go Forth For Yourself.

Episode 118: Who are you, and where are you going?

Episode 118: Who are you, and where are you going?

Nuggets and Insights- Weekly wisdom by Professional Public Speaker and Certified Positive Intelligence coach Dorice Horenstein. Listen in as Dorice views ancient stories with the contemporary Positive Intelligence Lens. Can we learn insights from our collective past to lead us, our teams and families into a happy, calm and joyful future?

What is Positive Intelligence?

The concept of Positive Intelligence was explained in detailed in a book by Shirzad Chamine, PhD in neuroscience, lecturer in Stanford and Yael Universities. His book is a NY best seller and was translated to 20 languages in 50 countries.   Shirzad's research is based on brain science and his methods are known to decrease the gray matter in our own survival brain region and increase the gray matter in the PQ brain region where the Sage lives.  Positive Intelligence program cultivates wellness and healthy relationships in addition to bringing positivity, calmness and laser focus actions into the workplace.  It helps get to the root problem of many of the stresses we feel today by providing tools to handle important relationships in your life, at work and at home, and navigate through it for a successful outcome.

How is it achieved? By exposing what sabotage us and how we can shift our brain to the sage perspective. Positive Intelligence is a bullet proof way- the ability to shift from negative mindset (fear, stress, anxiety) to positive one (curiosity, empathy, resourcefulness etc.). It takes awareness, practice and time. Practice plus time equal persistence.  Dorice Horenstein, Speaker, Certified Positive Intelligence Coach, and Author of Moments of the Heart, Four Relationships Everyone Should Have to Live Wholeheartedly, is equipping us with food for thought! Episode 113: Avraham and YOU

Episode 113: Avraham and YOU

When Dorice reads stories from the Torah (the first five books of the bible), she always tries to glean messages that inspire her in my own life's journey and also help others with whom she is connected to benefit from centuries old wisdom.

Even Avraham was not without saboteurs! Even HE, known for his ability to bring peace, had fears playing constantly in his head. “The Egyptian will kill me if they found out sarai is my wife.” “Where is my promised legacy..I am old with no children.”

It happens to all of us. Our brains' priority is to protect us. And how does it do it? By keeping us reacting in ways that it knows…ways that is expected…But new way of thinking-- forget it!

And so God himself presents his words to Avrahm ...."do not fear."

Take this message and personalize it.

Fear holds us back from trying somethings new, and sends us into cycle of  judgments. Judging ourselves, judging others and judging the circumstances.  It prevents us from allowing in joy, curiosity, love a seat at the table of our brains.

Just think what is possible if fear did not stop you from something you desperately wish to do…and we are not talking about jumping from airplanes…we are talking about being paralyzed with fear to take the necessary steps to your own happiness.

Since Dorice left her work as an education director, she has had her own fearful thoughts. No one can escape it. It takes practice to make our brains find new to-go thoughts…

Dorice is inviting you to join her in this journey- The Journey of Positive Intelligence, gleaning tools and practices to handle life's challenges and fears in a positive rather than negative mindset? Are you in?
