Generation Zed
I come from a long line of generations. Baby boomers generation X. Millennial generation Y. Why not Gen Z? And now, the beginning of a new alphabet. Right. But wait a second. Breaking news. Baby boomers are butting back in the fine line of lineage with Generation Z over 70, but not quite. Dead Catchy. Manifesto. Too youngsters try to put us down just because we can't get around things they do look awful cold hope they end up in a walk or two when they get old why don't you all fade away? Don't try to dig what we're trying to say you can't understand me without my dentures in and I can't understand you without my hearing AIDS on and now that I've got black floaters in both my eyes I spent most of my leisure time in the kitchen tasting fruit flies by Macular Degeneration thank you.

Evergreen Forever Gone!
Doug is not too happy about losing the 5 Trees in front of his apartment building.
Home is where my heart is and where I live. One Rosemount Westmount, QC, Canada. So proud. So happy. So, for over 30 years, I've shared Westmount's passion for protecting heritage treasures, plus a rare dedication to preserving all things green, especially long standing evergreens that surround a 100 year old apartment building I call home. However, the only thing constant is change, right? So, not surprisingly, while Westmount elected a new council, coincidentally, another real estate company bought the historic apartment building of my abode. I assume Villa Westmount would continue the rich legacy of care shown in the past, and the 520 foot tall cedars would continue to adorn the premises just outside my front windows. Wrong. I wasn't home when the first four disappeared, but I managed to be granted. A stay of execution. For the remaining tree, which I was assured they would do their best to try and save. But such was not to be the case. Actually, if you think about it, they took both our homes.

Was first exposed to shock therapy in Victoria, BC at the tender age of 13. Grade 7, November 22, 1963. Etched into my consciousness forever for all the wrong reasons Kennedy assassination.

Labour Daze
Well, many parents are only interested in getting their kids back to school, thank you very much. Been a long summer, right, mom and dad? I know, I know. Your labor days just never seemed to end. But she surely in a perfect world I'll be in a dream world. Wouldn't it be nice to lays around your deck in your chaise lounge? Or swing easy in your outdoor hammock and drift way away without a care in the world? Whatever happened to those days when you were the kid and work was just the odd jobs of summer? Mo, alon, wash a car. Look at me. I'm a lifeguard at the local pool. Oh, I better turn over my gold and tan. Might get a burn. Life was so stressful. And even when it really was, somehow it was still manageable. Dad, wake up. My bike tire is flat. Could you get up and drive me around my paper route? Wouldn't want to be late for my first day back at school. Right, dad? Okay, I'll be in the car. Dad. We'll see you soon.

Guess Who Is Sleeping In Our Bed?
Yes. Guess who's been sleeping in our bed. The latest stats are in. Apparently, North America is divided into three distinct camps those who sleep with their pets on their bed, those who don't allow their pets to sleep on their bed, and those who don't have pets. Pretty definitive, I'd say. Of course, I can only speak from personal experience. As an adult, I indeed had a pet horse for 23 years, but sleeping together topic just never came up. Besides, how can I say this and still be sensitive to my dear buddy, Purple Rain? In hindsight, I don't think his behind would have fit in my bed. After all, it's only a double. And I know Purple has always needed his own space, so to speak. I mean, I never dared to show up at his stall with a blanket and a pillow and say, hey, perp, let's have a sleepover. Although it'll be perfectly candid, I did have a dream once. Woke up in the middle of the night with a nagging headache. Hey, buddy, do you have to take up the whole frigging bed? Could I not least have maybe a bit of a sheet and perhaps even a pillow? Look, I don't mean to be personal, pal, but watch with the snow. That's nice. Oh, great. Now it's morning. That's timing it up.

Lock Around the Clock
The Clock atop Westmount City Hall needs a little winding. What exactly goes into it?

Transcription: Wow. Never realize what a historical heritage site Westmount City Hall is with its Scottish castle design, complete with central tower and turrets. The architectural wonder was is built and get this 1922. That's over 100 years old. A century and still ticking. Well, to be honest, it's humungous clock has only been ticking for 98 years. Kovid's collateral damage came to town, and then time stood still for two years. City hall was closed. Besides, there was no one there to wind, said the vintage clock, a beacon of light swallowed up by the night. But it didn't have to be that way. As a former West Mount part time employee, I knew how to wind the clock at the top of the tower, I was taught. First, you had to climb the tiny circular stairs up, almost there. Making sure to bend over like Quasimodo's hunchback for a touch of historical authenticity. Then slowly, delicately crank the winch, which would eventually restart the 100 year old marvelous masterpiece of a bygone era. And if the clock still didn't start seriously, this is what I was taught. Just kidding. The Friggin pendulum. There we go. By the way, COVID caused chaos in the Maritimes, too. In Newfoundland.

Far be it for me to brag, but if I've learned anything about being outdoors, it's don't. Just sit on your hands, put on your walking shoes, and get out there and climb to the summit is where I walk most days. Straight up west streets and the steep stairs in between in any kind of weather. Damn proud and in top shape until she came to town. Hey, Doug. Sure be nice to go for a walk. Jesus, you just moved back from the West Coast. Unpacking all your boxes, reassembling your furniture. You got to be gassed. Yeah, you're right. I do feel a little jet lagged, but, you know, some fresh air just might do me some good. Okay, but I got to warn you, I work out every day, so I'll go easy on you. That's really nice of you, Prophetic last words, because I barely saw her after that, and she quickly disappeared into the distance, heading right up to the top of Mount Royal. In hindsight, it was sort of like chasing a rabbit at a Greyhound race, so I hate to skip right to the epilogue, but it didn't end well for me. She was so fast and I was so far behind. I guess I never heard it when she happened to mention her cycling and rollerblading up mountain roads on the West Coast just for fun. And that on the days when she wasn't actually training for the Senior Olympics. Meanwhile, I myself have since become introduced to a senior orthopedics, although I doubt there's any event left for me on a Walker, I can't even put my socks on now without falling over. Sorry, could you help me up.
