Do Your Children Believe?

By Terence Chatmon

Christian parents today are challenged in the task of training and equipping their children in biblical principles.

In this podcast, we will discuss proven ways to create a personalized plan that works for children of all ages, even those who are now adults and have families of their own. We will see how other parents have successfully applied the principles from Terence's best-selling book, by the same title, in their family life. He'll provide real-world examples that he's used with workshop participants and stories from his own family, with his wife and children in their home.

Milestones to Manhood (w/ Steven Arms)

Milestones to Manhood (w/ Steven Arms)

Today more than ever, young men need their male role models to step up and help them understand what it means to be a man and bestow that mantle upon them. If a boy is never told what it means to be a man or that it's time to be one, he'll subconsciously extend his adolescent years far into his teens and twenties ... or beyond.

Steven Arms lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife, Emily, and is the proud father of two young children. In 'Milestone to Manhood' , Steven shares his firsthand experience of his Rite of Passage weekend and reflects on how it shaped him into the man that he is today.

WHAT'S UNIQUE ABOUT Milestones to Manhood?

It offers the perspective of both the father and the son, both of whose lives and families were changed by the event. In the past, societies from around the world held initiation events to mark the transition from boyhood to manhood. These gatherings created a situation where elders could bestow the “knowledge of life” and “family values” with the younger generation. This helped keep the tribe alive and well cared for.

Listen in as Terence Chatmon and Steven Arms discuss this important topic and experience.

Discipleship? The Workplace is not off-limits

Discipleship? The Workplace is not off-limits

Thomas Lutz started Vision Planners, LLC a strategic planning consultancy designed to assist leaders in creating plans to advance their visions.  As a result of his unique background Tom has served hundreds of churches, non-profits, and businesses in the development of plans designed to ensure the accomplishment of their leader’s visions.

Tom’s book: “Equipping Christians for Kingdom Purpose in Their Work: A Guide for All Who Make Disciples” was published in 2022

Have you thought about how to equip Christians for Kingdom Purpose in their work?  “In God’s kingdom, it’s never enough just to have spiritual insight or a pure heart – faithfulness is always revealed in action.”  40% of Christians are engaged in any kind of discipleship, what does it all mean for where we live, work, and worship?

What workplace tension (s) do you feel are prevalent in the marketplace today?

Sample of Discussion Questions:
1.        You talk about vocational discipleship. What is this?
2.         What do you mean by “doing good work in a good way?”
3.         According to Barna Research, less than 40% of Christians are engaged in any kind of discipleship. What do you make of this?
4.         You suggest the workplace is not off-limits for sharing one’s faith. What, if any, obstacles do exist?

What Makes a Great Sex Life for Married Couples?

What Makes a Great Sex Life for Married Couples?

Many Christian books talk about sexual issues within broader works on marriage, but few resources comprehensively and biblically guide couples on sexual intimacy. Navigating sex in marriage has always been tricky, and research overwhelmingly suggests that the pandemic has further complicated intimacy in marriage.

In her new book, God, Sex, and Your Marriage, Dr. Slattery applies a biblical framework to the practical challenges in sexual intimacy and helps couples by addressing questions like:  Why do we struggle in this area of marriage?

  1. Is your love life mediocre? What would you like married couples to know?
  2. Can you and your spouse talk openly about sex? Why is this important?
  3. Does sex create more conflict than unity? What are some key points for our audience?
  4. Has shame sabotaged your hope for intimacy? What are some key points for our audience?

Dr. Juli Slattery is a clinical psychologist, author, and co-founder of Authentic Intimacy, a ministry dedicated to reclaiming God’s design for sexuality. In addition to speaking, she hosts the podcast Java with Juli.  In 2020, Juli launched Sexual Discipleship®, an online platform to equip Christian leaders for gospel-centered conversations about sexual issues. She’s the author of twelve books, including Rethinking Sexuality; Passion Pursuit; and Sex & the Single Girl.  She and her husband Mike live in Akron, Ohio, and have three grown sons.
