A Whole Mood: Social Emotional Learning with Cynthia Brown

A Whole Mood: Social Emotional Learning with Cynthia Brown

In this episode we are in a whole mood talking about Social Emotional Learning with SEL Coach Cynthia Brown!
Cynthia White Brown has been in education for 30-years. She spent the first 20 years of her career as an elementary school teacher and literacy coach both at the school and district levels. She eventually changed districts to take a position as a literacy specialist. After serving as an administrator in two elementary schools for 7 years, she returned to her love of coaching and supporting educators at the district level. She is passionate about making sure students are prepared for a successful life, as they define it, in all aspects. Having a well rounded wholehearted life is why social and emotional learning is so important. Cynthia is also passionate about equity, diversity, and access. She is a wife and mother of three girls. I want for every student the same things I want for my children - happiness and a bright future.

The 21st Century is Here

The 21st Century is Here

This is a rerecording of the opening keynote I did last week with my school staff. We needed to have a quick reality check about how education has changed and that the 21st century skills we thought we could put off is now on our front door step and ringing the bell. We can’t ignore it, it’s not going away. In this keynote, I use the technology adoption life cycle of iPhones to illustrate how educators have embraced technology, where we are and how to move forward.
