Magnesium could be the cure with Kristen Bowen

Magnesium could be the cure with Kristen Bowen

Kristen Bowen is a magnesium advocate, social entrepreneur, and  Founder of Living The Good Life Naturally. She has spent the last two decades helping women become comfortable with their power so that they can create optimal health.  Kristen lives in Morro Bay, California, with her husband, Morgan, a recent double amputee.  Together they are learning to dance to a new rhythm. They have six adult children, seven perfect grandchildren, and one adorable Shih Tzu named Louis.

It took a complete health crash that led Kristen to create Living the Good Life Naturally in 2002. A bladder surgery where titanium was put into her body left Kristen bedridden, depressed, and in a wheelchair with daily seizures.  Through research and looking for outside-the-box solutions, she discovered she had Melisa syndrome. An allergic reaction to the titanium used in bladder surgery. Taking it out was crucial, but she was left with a body that did not function. Putting the pieces back required her to stop chasing symptoms and to start building a strong foundation.

Starting with one-on-one consultations with clients, to farmer’s markets for the bath and body line, Kristen’s business quickly moved from the small kitchen and extra bedroom in her home to a retail space in Logan, Utah. She hosted a Rocky Mountain radio show for seven years on KVNU Talk Radio, where she answered questions on natural health. This led to workshops and keynote opportunities at natural health conferences. This quickly led to needing a full-time team to produce products, deal with marketing, and run our retail shop, online classes, and guest podcasting/live classes.

From small beginnings in her 10X15 basement kitchen to her warehouse, store, and online business, Kristen has helped thousands of women rebuild their health foundation. As she tells her clients: “You are the CEO of your health. Let me be on your board of directors.”

Living the Good Life Naturally supports the Uganda Project that provides living wages to female entrepreneurs rendering cocoa butter in communal kitchens and using that income to feed and educate their children. Kristen believes female entrepreneurs will create the change we need in the world through sharing their passion projects and creating financial freedom.

Kristen lives in Morro Bay, California, with her husband, Morgan. They have six children, seven grandchildren, and Louis, their Shih Tzu.

Building A Designer Baby using IUI as a Single Woman

I invited my friend Debi on to talk about her experience as a single woman in her early 40's having a baby. I hope to make this topic less controversial by sharing stories like these, especially with the advances we have in medicine.

Debi was born in Los Angeles and raised between Northern and Southern California. She moved back to Los Angeles full time when she was 19 years old. After a brief stint as an accountant, she started working in the entertainment industry. She has worked in the TV/Movie business, in the music world, and as an event producer. Talking all about Integrative Medicine, Intuitive plant-based eating and Ayurveda with my favorite guest yet Dr. Siri Chand Khalsa

Dr. Siri's Instagram www.instagram.com/dr.sirichand

Dr. Siri's Websire thanksliving.drsirichand.com

For Dr. Khalsa, the intersection of science and creativity as it mingles in cooking has always been a delight. An avid cook since a young age, she was watching cooking shows instead of cartoons as a child and as the years have progressed, she has been blessed to travel to great restaurants and cooking centers around the world. Through this journey, she has slowly formulated a comprehensive holistic approach to vegetarian eating and nutrition. Science has always been a passion and she was fortunate to attend Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in suburban Washington, DC. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Virginia and went on in her studies to obtain a Master's degree in Biology with a focus in Reproductive Endocrinology at Old Dominion University. After completing her graduate degree, she entered Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia and then progressed to Mayo Clinic in Florida to complete a residency in Internal Medicine. She relocated to Phoenix five years ago from the East Coast.

With a life long interest in integrating innovative therapies and finding effective tools for healing, she has continued her studies after residency by becoming a certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor, Reiki Master, and participated in advanced studies in Ayurveda, Nutrition and Naturopathy. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Holistic Medicine, she strives to integrate ancient therapies with modern medicine in her hospice and palliative medicine practice. Her desire to learn new ways of healing also continues internationally and these explorations have taken her around the world to remote teaching centers in India, Brazil, Europe and Nepal where she has further learned about traditional healing systems and nutrition as the cornerstone for vitality.

In addition to patient care, Dr Khalsa has been invited to lecture to heath care providers in different settings, including Mountain Park Health System, Southwest School for Naturopathic Medicine, University of Arizona's Program in Integrative Medicine, Kundalini Yoga teacher training courses and Reiki Conferences. An active member in the Sikh community, she has served food in homeless shelters and encourages all to embody the Sikh concept of "seva" or service to humanity. She has seen that our health is directly linked to our diet and believes this starts with an increased awareness surrounding the planting and production of our food supply. Finding that she was routinely asked to share recipes, she created a food blog, LuminousFoods.com, where she offers tips for preparing her favorite vegetarian foods and highlights resources for learning more about nutrition. Educating health care providers that Food is Medicine and incorporating this notion into physician practices is Dr. Khalsa's goal for creating an experiential lecture where food samples are given as core principles are discussed. She has found that sharing a meal, no matter the size of the table, is one the great joys in her life.
