146. Tom Evans - Soul Waves
After studying electronic engineering [electrickery as he calls it now] at university, he spent 20 years in the broadcast industry and 10 years in the Internet industry, working out how all that technical magic worked. He loves asking Big Questions and making what seems complex as simple as possible. His books are an eclectic mix of self-help and personal development, philosophical futurology and metaphysical exploration. His meditations will open your mind and open your world to new possibilities. Since discovering meditation in his mid-40s, he has used this engineering mindset to understand how mindfulness works and how we can use it for real-world applications. So apart from the obvious health benefits, Tom teaches authors how to ‘meditate’ to get inspiration and words for their books. He works with businesses showing them how to tap into light bulb moments on demand. He also teaches how we can change the nature and speed of our thoughts so we can get more done in less time. He hosts a popular podcast called The Zone Show which explores how we get in and stay in the zone. He still doesn’t know what he wants to do when he grows up! Music Credit for Intro 1: Tom Evans. 144. Simon Milliman - A Journey in Music: 12 Albums in 12 Months
Urban Jack, the solo project name for, Subterranean Howl, and, Fat Mannequins, front man, Simon Eli Milliman, is embarking on a musical odyssey. The release of the album, Urban Jack and the Savage Sophisticates, marks the first of 12 albums that will be released in the following year. One album per month from May 2020 to May 2021. “It will be officially spring in the year of the rat,” says Milliman, “I can’t think of a better time to start a new, foolish venture...I don’t know of anyone else who has attempted something so silly. I have numerous passions and ambitions, the greatest of all being father to my five kids; hence the title of this project. I’m not going on tour, I don’t have ambitions to be away from home for months at a time, but I have a huge catalog of material that I keep adding to all of the time. In my bands I fall into that classic rhythm: Release an album and then spend years playing the album into the ground before releasing the next one. It was almost an excuse to not be as productive in the studio as I wanted to be.” Milliman’s hybrid recording and photography studio, Urban Jack Productions, located in Southeast Portland, Oregon, is where he records, mixes, and masters all of his own work. This first album under the Urban Jack monicor, is a soundtrack to, Flying Blind, a documentary about skydiver John Fleming, a thrill seeker who completed over 1,200 jumps while blind. “I was really inspired when I saw the first footage of, Flying Blind,” Milliman states. “[Fleming] was a complicated guy who embodied all of the drama, hubris, romanticism, redemption, and danger of rock and roll. The songs on this album switch perspectives between Fleming and his wife to tell the story of two very passionate and determined people.” Urban Jack and the Savage Sophisticates will be released digitally on itunes, Amazon, Bandcamp, and streaming services everywhere Royalty free music from https://www.fesliyanstudios.com

127. Emily Adams - From Growing Up Amish to Competitive Powerlifting
Born and raised in the Amish culture I always wondered why. Why did we live differently? Was there more to life than being Amish? Was there true happiness somewhere? I was not your average Amish girl. I had no interest in learning how to cook, clean, sew or do anything girly. I was a tomboy who loved to be outside, playing sports, training horses and avoided being indoors and away from drama at any cost. At the age of 17 I made the decision to leave the culture and leave everything I had known my entire life. This was the first time in my life that I realized the amount of mental strength that I had and the ability to believe in myself even when no one believed in myself. A year later I was pregnant with my oldest son, Jordan and married at 19. A year into the verbal abusive marriage I knew I needed out but felt stuck since I just found out I was pregnant with my youngest son, Cameron. Fast forward two years I knew I needed to leave the marriage for me and my boys. Gathering up what strength I had, I filed for divorce and became a single mom.

The treatment was like magic. He not only adjusted her spine but also her feet, hips, knees, wrists, and elbows. She felt new and light, like a better version of herself. He also took extra time to put her on a specific dietary protocol and nutritional regimen, from which she realized major positive changes. She excelled academically, experienced less gastrointestinal upset, reduced brain-fog, lost weight, and started to enjoy activities like hiking, because her foot mechanics had been changed. Dr. Barter has been active in athletics her entire life. For 17 years Dr. Barter was a competitive dancer. These days she can be found dancing, skiing, running, performing yoga, biking, hiking, lifting weights or walking in the parks close to her home in Golden, Colorado. 99a. Jan James - Music for the Soul
Chicago-based vocalist/songwriter Jan James will released her 11th full length album, Justify, on March 6, 2020 via Blue Palace Records. The 12-tracks are a confident display of the heart-centered artistry that’s been the backbone of Jan’s work since the ‘90s. The album opens with an accessible, upbeat love song, “I’m Always Coming Back,” before launching into the title track and first single, “Justify” where Jan’s uniquely emotional vocal quality enmeshed with guitarist Craig Calvert’s exceptional guitar work. Jan has always used her music to support causes near and dear to her heart. On this album, the Aretha Franklin-inspired gospel ballad “Try” was written in response to the suicide crisis, which claimed the life of a former bandmate. “The amount of people hurting out there is astounding. I wanted to give them a message of love.” With a message of connection, she wrote “Good Man Down” while mortified by the current administration’s treatment of immigrants in America. After decades of including the fan favorite in live sets, Jan finally recorded her sassy but reverent version of the Rolling Stones classic, “Honky Tonk Woman.” “Though many of the elements from our debut album, Last Train, still flow through our music, our songwriting has evolved. I consider Justify to be very personal. We created a collection that should make you move, have some hope and most importantly have some fun,” said Jan.

Jacky grew up in Romford Essex in the UK; she trained as a Hairdresser/Makeup Artiste and Drama Teacher. She tried to full fill one of her first dreams of becoming a Director. As a innocent 16 year old she went along to her careers advisor at school and told them she wanted to be a director and suggested to the advisor that she went to the “London College of Fashion” to train as a Makeup Artiste and then once she was on a film set she would make her way to becoming a Director. (The innocent dreaming of a young girl) The Careers advisor told her to forget her dream; she would never get into the prestigious “London College of Fashion” and certainly never become a director. That was all the incentive she needed. Now she had to prove them wrong. Jacky did go to the college and at the same time she became a Drama teacher. Jacky wrote her first play when she was only 17 and has written and directed many Plays over the years. She spent many years in TV and film Studios with her own up and coming actors and it was only just over a year ago she decided to write her first book. ‘The Missing Extra’ takes place in Pinewood Studios a studio Complex that Jacky has been to many times. Lots of her characters are taken from real life experiences of people she has met along the way. In 2008 Jacky turned 50 and decided to take a month off from work and go and stay in the Caribbean. “But” she thought to herself “What was she going to do for a whole month”. That when she came up with the idea of writing book. That dream turned into a series of 5 books all about the adventures of an 11 yr old detective. Jacky has now written all of the 13 books and In 2015 Jacky delved into Crime thrillers and wrote .....THE SANDRA BERNSTEIN CHRONICLES... “From Makeup to Murder” It was released on June 22nd 2015. 74. Natalie Garramone - Conflict Resolution and Mediation
ONE EIGHTY emerged from the realization, solidified during countless consulting gigs, that most companies suffer from the same dilemma: a discrepancy between what they think they need to solve, versus what they really need to solve. Almost without exception, simmering tensions and unresolved interpersonal conflicts get in the way of company progress—but employees and executives often don’t have the knowledge, skills, or time to address these potent emotional forces productively. It doesn’t have to be that way. Formally trained in mediation and schooled in a decade of real-world corporate consulting experience, ONE EIGHTY steps in when it’s hard for others to step back and see the whole picture. We dive deep below the surface to unearth what is really going on, moderate tricky conversations, then steer individuals and teams toward agreement and alignment. Our work enables companies to work through and beyond difficult issues, while also preparing them to handle future conflict themselves. The result? Enhanced understanding, improved collaboration, and a psychologically safe environment that is primed for achievement Website: https://www.oneeighty.io/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nataliegarramone-47b67b11/ This episode is sponsored by Palm Organix™. A PhD candidate at Princeton University, her research focuses on the experimental development of neuroprosthetic technologies. Alexandra’s research examines the ways scientists, doctors and amputee patients together develop and refine intimately integrated prosthetics coupled to nerves, muscles, and bones. Questions of embodiment, (inter)subjectivity, sensation, and relationality guide Alexandra’s work.  A West Coast native (San Francisco Bay Area and Bend, Oregon), Alexandra attended Duke University, where she graduated with a BA in cultural anthropology, minor in neuroscience, in 2013. Her undergraduate thesis research on a mountain village community’s indigenous medical system in Togo, West Africa prompted her to switch from a pre-medicine track to anthropology as an alternative lens to explore health and the body. These interests eventually lead Alexandra to Princeton to pursue her PhD in anthropology, with a focus on feminist studies of science and technology.  Interest in the body — and the multiple ways of being in one — are at the foundation of Alexandra’s work and personal pursuits. Both her writing and photography have been recognised and awarded, nationally and internationally. Alexandra is also an endurance athlete (former competitive triathlete turned distance trail runner), former mindfulness-based cycling instructor, and certified yoga instructor who has been teaching yoga for five years. She is constantly seeking ways to explore and play with the intersections of mindfulness, movement, and writing.  Instagram @liminalliety www.liminalliety.com This episode is sponsored by Palm Organix™. At one point, she had to be revived after going into respiratory failure. The cause of this rare condition is unknown, and the healing process with GBS is tedious and painful. Carolyn was forced to relearn how to balance, walk, and feed herself, while waiting for the nerves to heal and her vision to return. 33. Denishi Blake - Bike and Blend
Empowering people to take control of their health through nutrition and mindfulness is the passion that drives Denishi Blake’s career.  As a young adult, the now respected wellness program designer, certified health coach, plant-based vegan chef and smoothie bar operator made a life-changing realization — Food can either heal you or kill you. This understanding inspired Denishi to make the leap from a career in business to one where she can help prevent others from enduring unnecessary hardships, an experience she knows all too well.  As early as 14 years old, Denishi began losing close family members. These deaths impacted her profoundly and left her believing there had to be a better solution than just letting disease run its course.  A few years later, Denishi watched her mother, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer, fight, and ultimately conquer, her disease through smart food choices, especially fresh juiced daily smoothies.  Intrigued, Denishi thought, if her mom could use whole plant-based foods to help heal her body, maybe there was more power in nutrition than she initially understood. With this experience spurring her on, Denishi set out to learn everything she could about the healing power of nutrition.  She knew one of the many things all humans have in common is the need to eat food, but she wanted to know more about what is in our food, how it’s grown and what chemicals are used in its production.  Denshi had experienced her own share of health issues, including eczema, abdominal issues, and fatigue. Like many others, Denishi consistently received one prescription recommendation after another from countless medical professionals. However, these so-called remedies never truly worked, and she was tired of it. Instead of more prescriptions, Denishi decided to test her growing nutritional knowledge on herself. As she began to implement what she was learning about nutrition, the better she felt. Ecstatic and on a renewed quest to know more, she enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a certified health coach. In 2014, inspired to make a difference with her new expertise, Denishi started a new health and wellness company serving clients in Northern California-- Peace, Love and Light. Peace, Love and Light educates, enlightens and empowers people to take control of their health through nutrition coaching, meal prep planning and mindfulness coaching. Today, Denishi works to help her clients understand that the lack of education around food is causing the bulk of sickness, breaking down complex food science so that clients can apply it and regain control of their health. A unique extension of Peace, Love and Light, the Pedal Powered Smoothie Bar, was. born out of this passion for healing people!mone smoothie at a time, opened around the same time as the company.    When she’s not working with Peace, Love and Light or the Pedal Powered Smoothie Bar, Denishi can be found reading, attending seminars, traveling, learning about new cultures or practicing self care. Currently, one of her favorite leisure endeavors is learning French.  Instagram: @pedalpoweredsmoothies @peaceloveandlight11   Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pedalpoweredsmoothiebar/  https://www.facebook.com/peaceloveandlight111/

30. Doug Strudwick - Strong Man with a Huge Heart
20 years of experience affecting change in the lives of those around me.  Doug has worked both independently and through commercial gyms as a Personal Trainer, Education Specialist and Personal Training Manager.   Doug originally came into the industry like many, looking to train strength athletes as he was an amateur competitive Strongman at the time. An avid reader, Doug has always believed in researching and learning everything possible to assist his clients.  In this manner Doug quickly developed a reputation for minor rehabilitation work, and over the years assisted clients with everything from knee replacement, pre-hab and rehab, to working with cancer patients and MS patients.  Doug is fascinated with how context and experience dictates how the human brain will react to exercise stimulus and use that to his advantage when training clients.  Above all, his focus has been one of love and care.  Without those Doug finds that the client/trainer relationship falters and progress can be greatly reduced. Doug believes that understanding how change is evolution, and evolution is progress has allowed him the privilege of seeing people grow and develop.  www.facebook.com/doug.strudwick www.facebook.com/groups/445821662134771   MadDogs Powerhouse 2.0 www.linkedin.com/in/doug-strudwick-577072137/ Instagram Handle maddoug41

Eventually, this led her down different paths in wellness including being the Assistant Director at DragonRidge Country Club as well as helping open two CrossFit gyms when the trend was brand new.  Feeling like there was more to be desired to connect the brain and body, Emma became one of the first Level 3 Fascial Stretch Therapists in the world in order to understand how our emotions effect our physical body, and then went on to become a Master Practitioner of NLP, Hypnosis, and Time Line Therapy from one of Tony Robbins personal mentors in Las Vegas, NV, Tad James at the Tad James Company in 2015. Emma has worked with many corporations including the Gay and Lesbian Center of Nevada as well as the Department of Aviation at McCarran Airport teaching advanced NLP and emotional intelligence programs to corporate executive and leadership teams to take them to the next level. She is an avid believer in using the Law of Attraction and quantum physics to manifest the life of your dreams and loves teaching others how to use these tools in everyday life. During all these years, many things changed, but one thing stayed consistent – cannabis remained a part of her lifestyle.  When the cannabis industry began to emerge in Las Vegas, Emma decided to quit the safety of working for Corporate America and went on to push herself into one of the first cannabis start-ups in Nevada - Silver State Wellness. Starting at $12/hour as the company’s (and state’s!) first brand ambassador, she grew into a sales role less than a year later, proved her value in the company through cultivating one of Nevada’s most successful sales teams, and 3 years and counting in the company, Emma is now part-owner of Silver State Wellness which has partners she helped bring to the NYSE such as Dixie Brands out of CO, Mindy’s Edibles out of IL, as well as world’s first cannabis beer to come to the market, Two Roots Brewing Company, as well as Nevada’s #1 selling CBD company, Baskin Essentials, which are both fully owned and integrated under her company’s licenses. Emma is a growing leader in the cannabis industry who is passionate about others the path to mental, emotional, spiritual and physical wellness through the utilization of plant medicine, the Universal Laws of Attraction and Energy, and quantum physics.  -Degree in Exercise Science -Master Practitioner of NLP, Hypnosis and Time Line Therapy® - Certified Fascial Stretch Specialist (CFSS) -Rocktape Level 2 Certified Provider  -Former personal trainer through the NSCA https://www.instagram.com/theemmapreneur/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1623435137
