The Link between a Healthy Relationship with Money & a Healthy Life with Hilary Hendershott

As an entrepreneur, business owner, and financial advisor for the past 20 years, Hilary Hendershott intimately understands the financial challenges you may be facing. Ironically, her own story includes some embarrassing money mistakes, but also, financial success after rewiring how her brain saw money.

That realization created a new way of talking about and imaging money. She saw a way to serve women who felt left out of wealth conversations.

Please prepare to take copious notes in this value packed conversation.

E037: Power Moves

E037: Power Moves

The word empowerment has been associated with negative connotations in recent times, but my guest has the word in her job description and is very passionate about her work. I am joined by Youth Empowerment Officer, Life Speaker and new Author, Ruth Lawrence. We get into what empowerment is and the journey that lead her into personal development work. We discussed the value of education and how it assisted her with overcoming the hurdles of growing up in an inner-city in a single parent household.

Listen until the end to hear why Ruth believes our haters are sometimes more important to our purpose than our friends.

E036: Reach for the Sun

E036: Reach for the Sun

The timing for a very raw conversation about colour, culture and class in Jamaica couldn’t be more perfect. This conversation with Dr. Kim-Marie Spence is a must listen episode!

Kim-Marie Spence is a cultural industries and policy academic as well as a  Rhodes Scholar. She is the epitome of driven and I personally identify with her on so many levels. Kim-Marie shares with us  how living in 11 countries (including Antarctica) helped her to have a global perspective. This perspective ultimately helped her to overcome self doubt and insecurities emerging from unpleasant confrontations related to class and colour.

If you’re a high achiever not from the ‘requisite background’ you’ll learn a lot from Kim-Marie on how to navigate spaces where you’re faced with opposition.

She speaks about her views on Cecil Rhodes, a point of view I think is absolutely progressive.

Kim-Marie shares action steps for persons ready to pursue their dreams and why driven women have to make a decision around their family life early on.

Finally, stay for the laughter and a light hearted approach towards topics that can be pretty heavy for some of us.

E021: Finding your Soul Career

E021: Finding your Soul Career

I want to describe my conversation with Lisandra Rickards, Founder of Soul Career and former CEO of Branson Centre for Entrepreneurs in Jamaica as vegetables alongside a healthy serving of dessert. Yes, our conversation was a healthy treat! A Bohemian free spirit at heart, Lisandra shares with us her journey from finance to now being her own boss.

We spoke about how studying and living abroad shaped her identity. We discussed how she’s been able to come into her own as a woman and how being leader has shaped that process. We also ventured into the role of women in society, how Jamaican women typically shoulder a disproportionate amount of the burden of adulthood and the implications for our romantic relationships.

Stay til the end to hear Lisandra’s best advise for entrepreneurial women (I invited her to get technical and put on her Harvard Business School cap here) as well as what keeps her driven.

In this Episode you’ll Learn:

  • How to change your relationship to risk
  • Why listening to your inner navigation system is important
  • What it means to lead authentically

Many of you want to know what I do. I found my stride as a leader and developed my own, powerful techniques to get ahead. And doing so has helped me in numerous ways, like being able to find my inner drive; position myself as a global leader; build meaningful relationships; advise leaders and government officials from North America and the Caribbean etc. But I don’t want to keep this knowledge inside. I want others to have this same confidence to know that they, too, are unstoppable.
