S02 EP06: Darcy Michero on preventing overdose and promoting safety in our community
On today’s episode we’re joined by Darcy Michero from End Overdose!
Darcy is the Director of Events and Fundraising Programs at End Overdose, a Los Angeles based 501(c)3 non-profit organization working to end drug-related overdose deaths through education, medical intervention, and public awareness. End Overdose was founded in 2018 by Theo Krzywicki, and aims to educate and train individuals on how to intervene during a suspected overdose, as well as make resources that prevent overdose-related deaths accessible to everyone. To directly target outreach to the most at-risk populations, they focus on education, resource distribution, and community collaboration.
Darcy graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in June 2022 with a B.S. in psychobiology and began volunteering with End Overdose in 2021 after she developed a passion for harm reduction through her fellowship at the UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs, which aimed to assuage opioid dependence with medication-assisted treatment and CBT counseling. On top of her role at End Overdose, she manages and designs clinical trials for Quit Genius (QG), a telehealth startup that provides a digital therapeutic solution for opioid, alcohol, and tobacco use management. With a dedication to harm reduction solutions and preventing overdose deaths, Darcy curates events and builds relationships with organizations to disseminate End Overdose’s mission.

On today’s episode we are joined by Justin McGary.
Justin grew up with humble beginnings, as an only child with parents who got a divorce when he was only four months old. With both his parents being entrepreneurs, he knew someday that he would probably start his own business.
Growing up, whenever his mom wasn't working on her hairdressing business, she loved to go to concerts. His Christmas and birthday gifts were, a lot of times, tickets to go see one of our favorite acts perform. Early on he decided to purse a career in music. He noticed one distinct difference in EDM than the other music genres that he was a fan of was that EDM didn't have a FM radio station. Being the son of two very successful entrepreneurs, he thought creating one would be an amazing opportunity for a business.
A few years later, he met his life coach / artist coach, Nik Cherwink. When they began to work together and he hired him as his coach, he was going through one of the hardest break ups he ever had. His coach encouraged him to start a podcast and exactly one month after that, the Underground Society Podcast was born.
The whole premise of the Underground Society is to help others who are in the same position he was back when my mom was taking him to concerts and he could only dream of having a career in the music industry.
In this episode we discuss his story, his views on faith, and the future of the electronic music scene as it becomes more mainstream.

On today's episode we are joined by DJ and Producer Kutksi. Originally from the United Kingdom, Kutski began his career as a DJ on the iconic BBC Radio One. Kutski now is the mastermind behind the Keeping the Rave Alive (KTRA) brand. KTRA is a weekly podcast, a tour, and a merchandise brand spanning across the globe with performances in the United States, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Germany, Poland, and many many more. In this interview we discuss the evolution of the hard dance scene in the UK, how he went from bedroom DJing to mainstages back to bedroom DJing as a result of the coronavirus, and advice for up and coming producers.

True Survivorz is a foundation based in the Netherlands that organizes hard dance events for cancer research. Since their inception in 2013 they’ve organized six parties, including 153 artists, and have raised 32,000 euros for The Dutch Cancer Society (KWF). Faye shares her personal story of why she started True Survivorz and how they organize successful charity events.
