Patellar Dislocation Surgery in Bangalore | Bone and Joint Consult

In this podcast, Dr. Rewat Laxman, the Best Orthopedic Surgeon in Bangalore, going to discuss about “Patellar Instability”

The patella, or kneecap, is one of three bones that come together at the knee joint. All of these bones have a layer of cartilage at points where their surfaces come into contact. The patella is also enveloped by a tendon. This tendon connects the quadriceps muscle of the thigh to the shin bone (tibia) below the knee. When the knee bends, the patella slides evenly up and down within a v-shaped groove (trochlea) at the end of the femur (thigh bone). In some people, the patella is pulled out of the groove towards the outside of the knee causing patella instability, sometimes referred to as patella subluxation.

Save the Meniscus of your Knee Joints | Meniscus Tear Treatment in Bangalore, India

Save the Meniscus of your Knee Joints | Meniscus Tear Treatment in Bangalore, India

Save your Meniscus Tears | Meniscus Tear Treatment in Bangalore. Dr. Rewat Laxman is one of the Best Knee Orthopedic Surgeon In Bangalore. Here are the few important things below to listen about how to save your Meniscus Tear of the Knee Joints by Dr. Rewat Laxman.

The loss of the meniscus can be regarded as a pre-arthritic condition for the knee due to the loss of protective function. However, the tear pattern has a crucial impact on that risk, and it became obvious that the differentiation of tear types and repair techniques has resulted in significant progress over the last few years.

Numerous advanced techniques for meniscal repair are being performed, regardless of the site of the tear . There is no place  in the knee that cannot be reached by the arthroscope. However, some of the repair techniques are in the early stages of development and require

further improvement to reach global acceptance . They appear very promising, as many surgeons have adopted them in a short period of time.

Meniscus repair is gaining in popularity among an increasing number of surgeons. A better understanding, more sophisticated devices for meniscus repair

and the increasing success rate might be some of the explanations. The increasing popularity of meniscus repair also includes meniscus lesions, which are associated with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. At several European centres, meniscal repair procedures are now being performed  in up to 40–60 % of all ACL reconstructions. In addition, these repairs are being extended increasingly to an athletic population and even professional

athletes and football players. The medial meniscus in particular is becoming the focus of attention. As the main secondary stabiliser in anteroposterior  laxity after an ACL injury, it is well known that this structure plays an important role in the long-term development of osteoarthritis and, as shown recently by Robb et al, its absence negatively affects the fate of ACL graft survival. These are the reasons why efforts have recently been made to increase our understanding of medial meniscus tears , to rediscover certain types of injury like the meniscus synovial or ramp lesions and to improve long-existing repair techniques.

Another new development in meniscal repair relates to root tears, which have moved into focus over the last 5–10 years. Unknown a decade ago, they are attracting extraordinary attention nowadays, from both a clinical and a research perspective. Lateral meniscus root tears frequently occur in conjunction with ACL injuries. For this reason, much more attention may be paid to the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus during ACL reconstructions nowadays.

If you think that you may have arthritis in your knees, listen to the below podcast audio to get clear idea about How To Find Out If You Have Knee Arthritis…

Arthritis is inflammation of one or more of your joints. Pain, swelling, and stiffness are the primary symptoms of arthritis. Any joint in the body may be affected by the disease, but it is particularly common in the knee.

Knee arthritis can make it hard to do many everyday activities, such as walking or climbing stairs. It is a major cause of lost work time and a serious disability for many people.

The most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, but there are more than 100 different forms. While arthritis is mainly an adult disease, some forms affect children.

Although there is no cure for arthritis, there are many treatment options available to help manage pain and keep people staying active.

The knee is the largest and strongest joint in your body. It is made up of the lower end of the femur (thighbone), the upper end of the tibia (shinbone), and the patella (kneecap). The ends of the three bones where they touch are covered with articular cartilage, a smooth, slippery substance that protects and cushions the bones as you bend and straighten your knee.

Two wedge-shaped pieces of cartilage called meniscus act as "shock absorbers" between your thigh bone and shinbone. They are tough and rubbery to help cushion the joint and keep it stable.

The knee joint is surrounded by a thin lining called the synovial membrane. This membrane releases a fluid that lubricates the cartilage and reduces friction.

The major types of arthritis that affect the knee are Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Posttraumatic Arthritis.

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Posttraumatic Arthritis

About Frozen Shoulder by Dr.Rewat Laxman

Best Frozen Shoulder Treatment in Bangalore. Dr. Rewat Laxman is one of the Best Orthopedic Surgeon in Bangalore, Koramangala for Bone and Joint related ailments in Bangalore and has specialized in Knee Replacement ,Joint Replacement and other Orthopedic Treatments.

Frozen shoulder is a common condition in which the shoulder stiffens, reducing its mobility. It is also known as adhesive capsulitis.

The term "frozen shoulder" is often used incorrectly for arthritis, but these two conditions are unrelated.

Frozen shoulder refers specifically to the shoulder joint, while arthritis may refer to other or multiple joints.

It commonly affects people aged between 40 and 60 years, and it is more likely in women than in men. It is estimated to affect about 3 percent of people. It can affect one or both shoulders.

Symptoms

The main symptoms of a frozen shoulder are pain and stiffness that make it difficult or impossible to move it.

If you have frozen shoulder, you’ll likely feel a dull or achy pain in one shoulder. You might also feel the pain in the shoulder muscles that wrap around the top of your arm. You might feel the same sensation in your upper arm. Your pain could get worse at night, which can make it hard to sleep.

You’ll typically go through three phases with a frozen shoulder. Each has its own unique symptoms and timeline.

Freezing stage:

  • You develop a pain (sometimes severe) in your shoulder any time you move it.
  • It slowly gets worse over time and may hurt more at night.
  • This can last anywhere from 6 to 9 months.
  • You’re limited in how far you can move your shoulder.

Frozen stage:

  • Your pain might get better but your stiffness gets worse.
  • Moving your shoulder becomes more difficult and it becomes harder to get through daily activities.
  • This stage can last 4-12 months.

Thawing stage:

  • Your range of motion starts to go back to normal.
  • This can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.
Diagnosis

During the physical exam, your doctor may ask you to move in certain ways to check for pain and evaluate your range of motion (active range of motion). Your doctor might then ask you to relax your muscles while he or she moves your arm (passive range of motion). Frozen shoulder affects both active and passive range of motion.
