Exploring Grassroots Girls Football in the UK with Chigwell FC's Jim Kearn

Exploring Grassroots Girls Football in the UK with Chigwell FC's Jim Kearn

In this episode wanted to take a closer look at what the beautiful game looks like for younger ages in the UK, more specifically for young ladies.  I wanted to make sure I provided the necessary attention to teams outside of the mainstream football pyramid, so to that end I connected with Jim Kearn, manager of the Chigwell FC girls U14 Girls football team.  We discussed what the process for teams at Chigwell is like, teaching the girls to play footy the right way, and much more over the course of our interview.  I hope you enjoy listening as much as I did recording it.

Exploring the Path2Pro with Jordan Skelton, Des Moines Menace

In this episode, I speak with central defender of the Des Moines Menace, Jordan Skelton. Before coming over to the United States, Jordan was part of the Gateshead FC Development Academy and the England Schoolboys, competing internationally for his country. We discuss Jordan's career at Lander University as well as how his summers spent in USL League 2 with Missippi Brilla FC in the #Path2Pro model have benefited his professional and personal aspirations on the soccer field and beyond. After signing his first professional contract with South Georgia Tormenta, Jordan had the opportunity last summer to play in USL League 1. Lastly, we finish by discussing how a move back to USL Two with the Des Moines Menace this summer rejuvenated him and his love for the beautiful game.

Exploring Collegiate Soccer and Coaching With Lee Squires

Exploring Collegiate Soccer and Coaching With Lee Squires

In the second episode, I speak with the head men's soccer coach of Lander University, Lee Squires.  Lander has consistently performed in both their conference and in the NCAA Division 2 landscape, taking further strides every year towards the DII Title.  Before coming to Lander, Lee played and coached at Lees-McRae in Banner Elk, NC, where he still holds several school records for points in a career, total goals, and game winning goals.  You'll hear in the interview the path that led Lee into coaching after he hung up his football boots, matching his formations and game plans  to the unique skills of his team, advice for those young adults seeking to develop into a college-level player, what he finds rewarding about shaping the young men that come and play for him at Lander, and much more.
