I sit down with former 1-23INF Infantryman Daniel Hernandez. Daniel did 2 deployments to Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division from Fort Drum, NY. After 19 years in prison, 

I got a second chance...

In 2002, I found cocaine. Combined with alcohol and insecurity I quickly went from a kid graduating high school to strung out and barely hanging on.

Just after my 18th birthday I committed a robbery and separate shooting. I was rightly arrested and remember feeling a huge sense of relief that someone had stopped me because I hadn't been able to stop myself.

The upper range of the sentencing guideline was 16 years. The judge sentenced me to double that, 32 years. 

I was crushed. But I got back up. With the benefit of great love and support, I put my life together in prison. I mentored other men, earned a Bachelor's degree, became a journeyman electrician, wrote articles for publication and found a way forward.

Second Chancer Foundation:

Each year in America more than 600,000 people are released from state and federal prison. Millions serve shorter periods in local jails. After release, they return to incarceration at one of the highest rates in the world. Periods of incarceration do little to address the issues and unmet needs that often lead people to prison in the first place and often add further trauma. We seek to humanize the experience of reentry and drive both awareness and resources toward the process. This benefits the individuals as well as society at large. The world is much better served when people are out working, acting as parents and siblings, paying taxes and contributing to their communities.

I sit down with former 1-32INF Medic Christopher Bellingham. We talk about his background before the military, his time in the military, life after, and nonsense. He joined the Army as a teenager and by the time he was in his early twenties he had been to Afghanistan twice as a medic embedded with the 1-32INF out of Fort Drum, New York. His first deployment was in the Korangal Valley. The Korangal Valley, also nicknamed "The Valley of Death" is a valley in the Dara-I-Pech District of Kunar Province, eastern Afghanistan.

Steven learns the difference between condemn and condone. 

This month, Cody is taking part in Great Cycle Challenge and pedaling throughout September to kick cancer's butt!

Why? Because cancer is the largest killer of kids in the U.S. – on average, 38 kids die of cancer every week.

This is horrible. Kids should be living live, not fighting for it!

Cancer has taken too many lives and robbed too many kids of their childhood...

And frankly, cancer needs to be dealt with once and for all.

So I'm pedaling 500 miles this month to give cancer a good old-fashioned butt-kicking to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

My goal is to raise $2,600 through my challenge...

He works closely with Commissioner Gordon, who recently transferred from Gotham Police Department, on keeping Miami safe.

Retired Army Col. Kenneth Mintz plans to walk across America in April 2022. His walk across the United States of America will raise funds for a few different charities. The walk starts on 1 April 2022 at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, and ends at Swami's Beach in Encinitas, CA.
