Episode 52: Karen O'Conner, Maverick of Menopause
Please join me for this vibrant episode with the amazing Karen O’Conner, founder of the Menopause, Marriage, and Motherhood podcast. Karen is dynamic woman who sought answers from her own experience through menopause, and then went on to further share what she found out with the world.
After raising four children, Karen found herself smack bang in the middle of menopause and with zero idea of what to do with her life. Depressed, lonely and majorly hormonal, she was shamefully convinced that she was the only person who felt this way, as every other woman she knew seemed to have their act together. But as she began to talk to people, she realized that most women going through midlife experience a similar sort of thing. She also realized that even though menopause is something that 50% of the population will experience, it's neither understood not discussed enough.
Karen started her podcast, blog, and Facebook group to bring this topic into the forefront of the conversation with grace, humor, and a style all her own.
We have a great chat and clarify what menopause actually is, signs we can watch for as we go through perimenopause, and how we can maintain steady and sure footing as we go through these biological changes.
If you are a man and think this episode isn’t for you—think again! If you have any women in your life who you care about, learning and understanding what they go through throughout the lifetime of their hormonal cycles will surely make life for pleasant for both of you!

Episode 45: Emily Golden, author of The New Golden Rule
Join me for a lively chat with Emily Golden, and learn what all about the New Golden Rule! She recently published a book by the same name, and lets us in on some of the highlights she covers between the pages.
Emily Golden is a professional certified coach who specializes in executive leadership and career coaching. She has seventeen years of corporate human resources experience; practical experience from more than 2,500 hours of coaching; and a deep understanding of the human mind, spirit, and potential. Her clients range from seasoned executives to emerging leaders, to career changers who utilize her support to close the gap between where they are and where they want to be.
Emily’s ontological approach allows individuals to clarify their goals, shift beliefs and habits, take risks, execute brilliance, and make quantum leaps rather than incremental improvements. Her patience and brilliance allow others to discover “ah-ha” moments that enable what once seemed impossible. As a result, her clients emerge as leaders who bring value, impact, and connection to their professional and personal lives.
Emily and I chat about making profound life changes without a huge event taking place as a catalyst, and at finding your passion with your work.
Emily offers wonderful insights into ways to take better care of ourselves and highlight our own strengths, while being aware of areas for growth.
Emily is a dynamic, warm hearted guest who brings a fresh approach to the world of personal development.

Episode 44: Cree Cox , Menstrual Maven
If you are a woman, please listen to this amazing episode with Cree Cox as she discusses the power behind understanding our cycles and natural hormonal rhythms.
Cree Cox is a spiritual guide and menstrual maven who is leading a sacred rebellion of a menstrual revolution. She is on a mission to normalize the conversation around not just menstruation, but the menstrual cycle as a whole. Through one on one coaching and her group program Embody Your Flow, Cree inspires women to connect with the intelligent wisdom of their bodies and their wombs, by teaching them to live life in sync with their natural rhythm and flow.
I have been obsessed with this topic for the past year, since I first got a taste of understanding my own hormonal cycle, not as a monthly annoyance, but as a place of power. Learning the ways in which our bodies change throughout the month places us in a position to work WITH our hormones, instead of feeling we are constantly doing battle with them
Cree has a wonderful holistic and earth centric approach. She offers practical strategies to begin tapping into your bodies inner wisdom and understanding your own cycles.

Caitlin has her master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and combines Eastern wisdom with her natural practicality. After performing more than 25,000 acupuncture treatments, Caitlin added 1:1 coaching, corporate workshops, and keynotes for companies such as PTC and Lululemon – all with a focus on burnout.

Episode 33: Bruce Parry of Tribe
Bruce Parry has lived an incredibly adventurous life. He has traveled and led expeditions to some of the most remote regions of the world and lived with indigenous people around the globe.
Bruce is an English documentarian and indigenous rights advocate, having produced the documentary series Tribe, Amazon, and Artic for the BBC, showing Bruce exploring extreme environments and living with remote indigenous peoples and highlighting many of the important issues being faced on the environmental front line.
In my conversation with Bruce, I was curious to hear how his widespread travels and adventures have impacted him personally, and how this dictates his past and current lifestyle and practices. We talk psychedelics, silent Vipassanna meditation, and the awareness found in foraging.
Bruce is an environment advocate, having witnessed firsthand the destruction brought to tribal people by ongoing and disruptive development in remote regions. He is also well practiced in ceremonial psychedelics, from a personal standpoint as well as an observational one.
As my own work focuses on anxiety and trauma resolution, I was curious to hear his thoughts on how stress and trauma show up in tribal cultures, and what the sense of living with a truly egalitarian people feels like.
I was quite excited to speak with Bruce for many reasons, my own great love of the wilderness and adventure first and foremost. I also have a deep sense of responsibility for being a steward on the planet, and love Bruce’s take on how we must all “fall in love with nature” to begin restoring and protecting our natural and wild places.
If you are as fascinated by interesting people as I am, or want to deepen your own connection with nature, with your essential self, and with your fellow humans—give this episode a listen.

Episode 32: Jason Michael Stepina, Shiva Murti Healer
In the midst of an incredibly tumultuous time, I wanted to provide a sweet episode with a message of healing and hope. This is not to deny or gloss over the racial injustice and subsequent protesting and looting that is currently occurring in the United States. As a white woman, I am well aware of my privilege, and am learning how to be an ally. If you fall in a similar category, please take a look at some of the links I have posted below. What I can do is discuss trauma and healing, and I am grateful to introduce you to one of the finest people and most brilliant healers I know in this episode.
Jason Michael Stepina is a Certified Shiva Murti Healer, Certified deep tissue and shiatsu practitioner, an amazing artist and so much more. He also happens to be one of my best friends on the planet.
Jason and I discuss our personal history together and how we met many moons ago at The Heartwood Institute, a live in school for the healing arts up in the northern CA mountains.
Jason shares about his own journey with sobriety and the many pivotal moments he has had since becoming sober that have led him along his healing journey.
We dip into the power behind leaning into uncomfortable feelings, and the space and release that comes with having the capacity to actually feel them.
Jason shares his work with the Balinese healing practice of Shiva Murti, and describes some of the benefits he has received as well as those he sees in his clients.
We talk about the power of remembering we are all magical humans on the planet, and that embracing our magical powers as humans does not mean we are cut off from reality, but on the contrary, it allows us to be more present and engaged and grounded with our lives.
This is a beautiful and fun episode, and I am privileged to introduce all of my listeners to the wonderful work of Mr Jason Michael Stepina.

Episode 31: Ginger Burr of Total Image Consultants
I am Ginger Burr’s newest fan, and I think you probably will be to when you listen to this episode!
For 33 years, Ginger Burr, President of Total Image Consultants, has helped women around the world create a wardrobe they love by connecting with their inner essence. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and the author of That’s So You! Create a look you love with beauty, style and grace. Ginger has been interviewed by Worth Magazine, Forbes Magazine, FoxNews and Bloomberg Business.
In this episode, she enlightens us to the difference between fashion and style, and offers tangible ways that we can develop and embrace our personal style well into our 40s and beyond.
Ginger works from the inside out and has a process to identify the four inner beauty words that are unique to each individual. She helps me to dig into one of my own words, and I reminisce about some of my favorite clothes as a kid.
Ginger makes having a sense of style and dressing as a representation of our inner self seem do-able and FUN! She has systems that take the guesswork out of getting dressed in the morning, and encourages all of us to not settle for “good enough” when it comes to selecting our clothes because it is such a huge representation of how we feel.
I have truly loved clothes since I was a little kid, and had very specific ideas from an early age on what went with what and how to wear it. Fast forward to my life now and I am climbing over rocks most days, and can’t seem to combine that with wanting to dress as a joyful professional woman. Ginger has helped me see this is not only possible, but knowing a few simple things can help immensely in creating my personal style.
What a great conversation, and I know you will love the passion and delight Ginger brings to her work.

Join me in this beautiful interview with a beautiful guy, Dr Matt Jeffs, DPT PSM CEAS Principal Faculty at The Back School and National Faculty at Summit Professional Education.
Matt is clearly a skilled clinician, educator, and innovative thinker. He excels at examining the latest scientific research regarding our global relationship with stress, and more importantly, what we can do about it.
In this interview, we discuss the flow state, how it changes the brain, and ways we are able to easily access it within our busy lives.
Matt discusses his own journey with practicing Tai Chi, and how an almost accidental daily practice led to remarkable decreases in stress and anxiety within his daily life.
He shares his realization that yin/yang is a lifestyle and that in our culture of spending long hours in front a computer, sitting meditation may not be the best choice for a daily practice, and how tai chi can become a meditation of movement practice.
We talk about the changing world of physical therapy, the forward placement of telehealth, and how we must transition to a whole body approach to treatment.

Episode 28: Deborah Dubree of ClearEdge, LLC
Welcome to the first episode in my "Women who Shine" series. As an entrepreneur, I am always interested in what makes some people take the leap, and reach amazing levels of personal and professional success, even when the odds may be seemingly stacked against them. So, I decided to launch a series on highlighting these women for inspiration and education.
I know you will enjoy this conversation as much as I did, it was a genuine pleasure to catch up with an old friend and learn more about her mindset and her journey.
Deborah is the kind of woman you read about on the cover of magazines and wonder if she can possibly be real., her story and success are simply astounding.
I am here to tell you, she is indeed real, and one of the most genuine people I have ever met.
Deborah is an elite performance expert and strategist, and has earned a reputation for her no "BS" speaking, coaching, and training methods in the worlds of high performing business executives and professional athletes from around the world. She has been dubbed "the secret weapon" of pro golfers, MLB players and NFL players.
Deborah understands the mindset of high achievers because she is one. With only a high school diploma, Deborah catapulted her career from answering phones as a receptionist to become the owner/CEO of a $20 million corporation. After selling the corporation Deborah founded ClearEdge, LLC.
She is a living, breathing example of the financial success and freedom that is possible when you do not allow circumstances, education, society, hardships or economics define who you are or you can become.
Deborah is also one of the most grounded people I know, and does not approach success with a push, push, push mentality. Rather, she works in conjunction with her emotional state and psychological well being.
We cover topics like race car driving and shark diving, along with neurological patterns and how we can begin to shift them in our favor to create the lifestyles we desire.

Episode 27: Justin Sunseri of The Polyvagal Podcast
What a GREAT episode! I catch up with first time REPEAT GUEST: Justin Sunseri, lfmt in a late night chat. (Late for me because it was 9pm )
Justin continues to do amazing work in the world teaching about the Polyvagal theory and ways to address challenges from a perspective of being stuck, not broken. He utilizes this hash tag on his website and Instagram accounts, #stucknotbroken, to reinforce the idea that people are not broken or unfixable, they just may need some help getting un-stuck.
He has a wonderfully informative podcast, The Polyvagal podcast, that serves to provides information on the polyvagal theory, good standards and practices for therapy, and ways you can begin thinking about “stuckness” from a new approach.
Justin has been working with underprivileged youth and families since graduating in 2008. This experience has been accumulated through various settings, including: school-based, outpatient, residential, juvenile hall and suicide/crisis phone center. Justin’s entire career (so far) has been working directly with children, teens and their parents. Modalities include: educational or therapeutic parenting groups, family therapy, play therapy and individual traditional talk therapy.
In this episode we discuss the importance and ease of implementing play, what we think people are doing during quarantine, and my own personal green dragon in the bathtub.
I had a wonderful time speaking with Justin and I think that enjoyment comes through in this episode. They are both from a background of twelve step programs and openly share the surprise they encountered when the individual work they had done did not automatically add up to an easy partnership.

We speak of the commonality between cheese and morphine, and the role of popularized fake meat options, such as the Impossible Burger.

Episode 24: Cary Fortin of New Minimalism
Join me for this enlightening conversation with Cary Fortin, co-founder of New Minimalism, public speaker, and published author.
Cary's company, New Minimalism, is a decluttering and design firm. She specializes in the psychology behind decision-making and attachments, as well as connecting with new organizations who can benefit from clients' donations. She currently resides in Boise, Idaho with her partner, rescue dog, and two small children.
Cary addresses not only the physical act of removing clutter and creating a beautiful space for yourself, but how to be gentle with yourself through the untangling of emotional attachments as it pertains to our stuff!
She is an advocate that choosing a minimalist lifestyle does not mean you need to live in a van or out of a backpack, but that you can create a beautiful home that reflects who you are as a person. She tunes me into the idea that choosing the life you want and what matters most is directly reflected within the environment that we create.
In a time of uncertainty, and in a period where many of us are spending more time than ever in our homes, this episode serves as a beacon of heartfelt strategy to create a space that you want to spend time in.

Episode 21: Clare Pooley, author of "The Authenticity Project"
Join me as Clare Pooley tells her story through having a lovely life and home yet dealing secretly with alcohol addiction. She shares the ways she was struggling and how writing helped her to change her life.
Clare began her sober journey with the help of an anonymous sober blog, Mummy was a Secret Drinker, and found comfort and healing not only in the writing itself, but in the community and vast legions of women who reached out and identified with her story. Clare touched and influenced thousands with her blog, and went on to publish her first novel, a memoir, The Sober Diaries, which detailed the trials, tribulations, and humor found in her first year of sobriety.
I was lucky to read Clare's latest book and first novel, The Authenticity Project, a few weeks prior to the release date and I truly loved it. It was wonderful to speak with her about character development, the affection she feels for her characters, and how she goes about her writing process. Clare speaks on how living with addiction in "secret" led her to develop the ideas and characters for this novel as she wondered what would happen if we all just started telling the truth about our lives.
Clare is a delightful human being with a wonderful sense of humor (cheeky, as they say) who has turned her world around and offered hope and inspiration to thousands of women through her writing.
If you are looking for a novel that will touch your heart, make you think, and delight you to your core--I cannot recommend her book enough.

Episode 20: Laura McKowen, author of "We are the Luckiest. The Surprising Magic of a Sober Life"
Laura McKowen is breath of fresh air, and it was a pleasure to interview her on the actual day of her book release. She is the author of "We are the Luckiest" and speaks openly about moving forward in a life of sobriety, what it took to actually write her book, and how she transformed her life into one led by flow, not adrenaline.
Before Laura got sober, she had a long successful career in public relations in the advertising world where "liquid lunches were frequent and drinking at your desk in the late afternoon was perfectly normal". In the five years since she stopped drinking, Laura has become recognized as a fresh voice in the recovery movement. Beloved for her soulful and irreverent writing, she leads sold out yoga based retreats and other online courses that teach people how to say yes to a bigger life.
Laura is incredibly grounded and offers a much needed perspective to the recovery community, and to anyone who finds themselves performing actions on a regular basis that don't align with how they feel inside.
If you are a long time fan of Laura's work or this is your first exposure to her, I guarantee you will love this episode and maybe learn something about yourself along the way.
