2. Bonus Episode: Learning and Using Gaeilge in the H-Blocks
In this bonus episode we discuss the learning and use of Gaeilge in the H-Blocks, where 300 men learned Gaeilge and made it their language of communication. Initially this was a strategic move but this was always marked with a strong sense of Irish identity to give meaning to their time in jail and also to reject any labels of criminality that the British government aimed to impose on them.

1. Bonus Episode: Arrest & The False Statement
This is the first of the podcast's bonus episodes. There's a number of topics that we wish to discuss and that are relevant to the historical nature of the podcast but they don't relate directly to the story of the Escape. So, we decided to create these bonus episodes to provide the full background story. These episodes will cover Gary's memories and lived experience such as the McGurk's Bar bombing, the Ballymurphy Massacre, and the coercion he experienced to sign a false statement at seventeen years of age.
In this episode, we'll discuss Gary's arrest and the methods employed by the Brits and the Orange State to arrest young people from the nationalist community to ensure free reign for the occupying forces.
1. Clár Bónais: Gabháil agus an Ráiteas Bréagach
Seo chugaibh an chéad chlár bónais den sráith. Is iomaí ábhar ar mhian linn plé lena chéile agus atá ábhartha don phodchraoladh ach ní bhaineann siad go díreach le scéal an éalaithe. Mar sin, chinn muid go mbeadh cláir bhonaisacha fóirsteanach do na toipicí seo. Beidh na cláir seo ag plé cuimhní cinn Gharaí agus a eispearais pearsanta dalta an buaimáil theach tabairne Mhic Oirc, áir Bhaile Uí Mhurchú agus an comhéigean a d'fhulaing sé le ráiteas bréagach a shíniú agus é ach seacht mbliana déag d'aois. Sa chlár seo pléifimid gabháil Gharaí agus tcífimid na modhanna siúracha a d'úsáid na Sasanaigh agus an Stát Oráisteach chun daoine óga ón cheantair náisúnach a chur faoi ghlas sa dóigh is go mbeadh siad i mbarr an réime gan dúshlán ar bith.
2. Internment and Arrest
In this episode we discuss the introduction of Internment in August 1971, which was imprisonment without trial, the community response to the British Army and Gary's arrest in April 1976.
2. Imthreorannú agus Gabháil
Sa chlár seo, pléimid theacht isteach imthreorannú i Lúnasa 1971, freagra an phobail, agus gabháil Gharaí in Aibreáin 1976.
1. The Orange State and the Background to the Troubles
In this episode we discuss Gary's childhood and his experience growing up in the Orange State. We discuss events from 1958 to 1971 when the nationalist community was empowered in Belfast.
1. An Stát Oráisteach agus Cúlra na dTrioblóidí
Sa chlár seo pléimid le saol óg Gharaí, agus a eispearas ag fásadh anuas sa Stát Oráisteach. Pléimid cúrsaí ó 1958 suas go dtí 1971 nuair a féin-chumachtaíodh an pobal náisúnach in Iarthair Bhéal Feirste.
