Edge of the ElectionSep 02, 2023
#13 - Albo's in Rio (Tinto), CPAC Australia fair, and QLD gov tortures children
This week Ellie and Jason find out what this CPAC nonsense is about and ask the question "why does the QLD government love to cause children pain and suffering?"
#12 - Conspiracies, compromises and coups
How many pages is the Uluru Statement?
Where's the relief for renters?
What's next for West Africa?
Affiliated with Edge of the Crowd.
Opinions are those of the hosts and are opinions.
#11 - The Yes vote crumbles, Palestine is a thing? and welcome to your KPMG-ocracy
New polling has the Voice looking unlikely to pass.
Labor confirms the existence of Palestine.
KPMG is running our government.
Affiliated with Edge of the Crowd, opinions are those of the hosts and are opinions.
#10 - Dan Andrews under fire, Voice support falls and a cooked by-election line-up
This week Joel Duggan and Ellie Claringbold chat about the shock cancellation of the Commonwealth Games, the battle for a Voice to Parliament and the upcoming Warrandyte by-election.
#9 - Albo's ratings take a dive, the RBA has a new governor, and Fadden has spoken
What's going on in the polls?
Will the RBA's new governor bring change?
What do the results from the Fadden byelection mean for the ALP?
And, the Victorian Pokies industry is in the bin.
Check out all the other goings on at Edge of the Crowd

Check out all the other goings on at Edge of the Crowd
#7 - The Big Budget Breakdown
This week, the Edge of the Election team chats about some of the biggest measures included in the Albanese government's very conservative budget. Were there any actual winners?
#6 - Should Australia kiss the ring? Is the Voice the way forward? Why should a surfer bum in Byron get my tax money?
This week we reanimate the corpse of the republic debate given the impending ascension of Charles II, discuss the merits and possible political drawbacks of the Voice to Parliament and talk about Labor's reluctance to move on Jobseeker.
P.S.
Albo is in the bin.
#5 - Labor's $10 billion housing bill, lacklustre whistleblower protections and Israel's woes
We have a look at the fallout from the NSW election. Joel weighs up the Greens' reluctance to green light the Albanese government's $10 billion dollar social housing bill. Ellie talks press freedom and the dire consequences that can face whistleblowers whether or not what they disclose is in the public interest. Jason examines the Israeli protests and general strike; what's next for Netanyahu? Prison? Dictator for life? It's looking increasingly like it has to be one or the other.
#4 - Submarine cash splash, Putin on the lam, and unaccountable cops
This week we try to make sense of the incredible amount of money to be spent on submarines. Porter has a deep dive into Putin's ICC arrest warrant. While Ellie puts Victoria police under the microscope and wonders if there is enough accountability.
Is $368 billion dollars too much to spend on submarines?
How soon until we see Putin in The Hague?
Can the police be trusted to police themselves?
Will Labor beat the odds and come out of the NSW political wilderness?
Find out the answers to these questions and more on this week's Edge of the Election.
Find more about the Edge of the Crowd network at www.edgeofthecrowd.com

This week we relaunch the Edge of the Election podcast with a new crew and a new format. Join us as we discuss the age of criminal responsibility, special interests in Australian politics, US military bases in the Philippines, and the National Cultural Policy. We also award Victoria's Assistant Treasurer, Danny Pearson, Gaffe of the Week for his Commonwealth Bank shares and ask the QLD government to Please Explain their intention to charge children with criminal offences for breaching bail conditions.
Victorian election results and looking at Kayne West once again
This week on the podcast the team is back after a week off to break down all of the Victorian election results. We were all certainly surprised about the big Labor win but we ask what it means and if it was that the Labor party was popular or if again it was just another bad election for the Liberals. What are the lessons to learn now and what does it mean for the NSW election? That is before the team goes through all of the big policy decisions from the last couple of weeks including the fact Albo now has COVID. That is all before finishing with Kayne West at the end of the episode.

Australia's energy policy and a couple of international elections
Australia is in an energy crisis with many going without power, especially in New South Wales. The Edge of the Election team explains why and talks about the fact Labor is being attacked from both the right and the left on their energy policies while the Coalition tries to distance themselves from a decade in government. The team also looks at elections in France and in Colombia as well as ranting about Labor party twitter and the demands they place upon the ABC. That is all before the real debate over PR guy gets a mention and Rory's prediction about what will happen to FriendlyJordies over the next six months.

We take on America and discuss the outing of Rebel Wilson.
With it being a much quieter week in Australian politics we look abroad for some of our news. First off we go over what Albo has done this week before going to the UK to discuss the vote of no-confidence against Boris Johnson. The majority of the episode is then taken up by discussing the recent US primary election before discussions move to guns, guns and more guns before we finish up by predicting who will win the 2024 presidential election. And as always we bring you please explain, unfortunately, it's not a lot of fun this week with us talking about the disgusting outing of Rebel Wilson.

Australia's new government and what will Peter Dutton's Liberal Party leadership look like.
In their first episode since the election results have come in the team has plenty to speak about. They start off by breaking down the results, especially in those key seats that have changed hands. A long discussion about Peter Dutton and what his leadership will bring to the party then ensues before we move on to gaffes of the week including Peter Dutton and the Voldermort Comparisons. The discussion then moves to evaluate the first week of government that has been extremely busy for Albo and his team before finishing up as always with 'please explain'.
