Bassem Youssef - Reinvention, Political Satire and a Plant Based Diet

Bassem Youssef - Reinvention, Political Satire and a Plant Based Diet

We often establish in this episode that Bassem Youssef needs no introduction, at least in the Arab World and North Africa - but to those who aren't as familiar, he was once considered the Jon Stewart of Egypt. Now, he lives in California in a constant state of reinvention, from stand-up comedy to advocacy of healthy living. We chat with Bassem Youssef about the multiplicities of being an ambitious human in today's world, and of course - about his favorite Egyptian food.

Today’s guest is one of Egypt’s few published graphic novelists, with her book series Shubeik Lubeik tackling Egyptian society in a magical way, to say the least. Deena joins Noran Morsi in talking about her inspiration for her books, the Qahira webcomic that launched her comics career, and advice for aspiring graphic novelists.
