EHS Tigers – get ready for a glowing, bright, sparkly, shimmering, and glimmering Sun Festival Prom next weekend, May 11th. Mrs. Knabe and her crew have been plotting and planning the party of the year for our upperclassmen and their dates. Tune in for a glimpse into the glitz and glam for the 2024 EHS Prom!

Join us as we learn ALL about the process of putting together the perfect memento for our Tigers each and every year. This talented staff of students are in charge of the entire process of the entire yearbook from cover to cover. We appreciate the work they do to keep our memories alive long after the bells ring and the hallways empty.

We are looking forward to this year’s yearbook release on Friday, May 3rd! 

Our dedicated MTSS members Mrs. Kayla Dinkelmann and Mrs. Kristy Mitchell join us in studio today to ROAR about all of the things MTSS related and the excitement behind ROAR week. The MTSS group is dedicated to supporting all students here at EHS – both behaviorally and academically – and they are responsible for creating the excitement around the ROAR expectations all year round. They are dedicated to OUR TIGERS all day, every day.

What a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty good….TIGER! Last week, our beloved Stuco hosted the Annual Mr. EHS Competition to feature the finest representatives from various clubs and groups, creating fun while fundraising. The mighty men put on the performance of the year sharing their special talents with our tigers while competing for the sacred title of “Mr. EHS”. Tune in to hear the behind the scenes and experiences of this memorable event.

They are women, hear them ROAR! Join us today as we learn all about the Women’s History and Empowerment Club with officers Maria Beltramea and Val Stafford. They [figuratively] shatter the glass ceilings – ahem, okay then…windows - in our studio as they chat about the value of women and what they are doing to highlight girl power here at EHS.

The Edwardsville High School Theater Program has created MAGIC yet again with this season’s musical, Legally Blonde. Tune in as our EHS Tigers rave about the in-school performance of the sold-out show ready to WOW our audiences this weekend. The talent of these thespians and musicians easily surpasses the determination of Elle Woods as she climbs her way to success at Harvard Law School and Ohmygod is it simply FANTASTIC. 

Roses are red, words are cool, join us today with the best poetry reciters in school! Okay, okay, so podcasters might not make the best poets, but we are here today with the Poetry Out Loud Coordinator Ms. Cara Lane and finalist Norah Washington! Learn about the Annual Poetry Out Loud Competition here at Edwardsville High School and the success of our very own Norah Washington, who advanced from our schoolwide competition to the regional competition to the state competition. While we know that violets are blue, we are very proud of you!

The studio is alive with the sound of music today! Not only is music their jam, but the Tri-M  Music Honor Society strives to ensure the importance of music in the lives of our EHS Tigers. In honor of Celebrating Music in Our Schools this month, tune in to the rhythmic sounds of our guests and the information they have to share.

Start your engines and get ready for the infamous Mr. Jon Wagner, driver’s ed in-class and on-the-road teacher, former football coach, and D7 wrestling coach legend, as he shares details about his life and legacy here as a teacher here at Edwardsville High School.  In his last year before retirement, Mr. Wagner continues to work long days coaching our wrestling gals and teaching countless tigers how to tackle the rules of the road. Tune in to our tribute to Mr. Wagner and all he has done for our D7 community.

Get ready to process this program as we invite our techy Tigers to talk about robots, gizmos, and circuits and their role of bringing metal to life! Our guests reboot the studio with their passion and expertise in the field of robotics with planning, creating, preparing, and competing against local schools across the region. Let’s ponder about the mysteries of the world and the ethical weight of societal topics with intellectuals Mr. Schlueter, Kaitlyn, and Izzy. Listen in as they share their love for collaborative strategizing to provide a comprehensive assessment in a competitive environment. Our tenacious tigers share their recent victories at the regional competition and accomplishments throughout the season.

Love is in the air at Edwardsville High School as our podcasters went on site during lunch today to ask our fellow tigers about their Valentine’s Day plans, favorite rom-coms and songs, and even celebrity crushes. Tune in to hear what makes their hearts pump on this very special, sappy day of l-o-v-e.

Our EHS Tigers show up to school every day, Monday through Friday, learning and excelling as full-time students. In addition to that, students participate in extra-curriculars, play sports, work jobs, and have other responsibilities beyond the walls of EHS. The students we have joining us today are not your typical students, as they are hustlin’ to make that coin pursuing their passions. 

In honor of Black History Month, we are proud to highlight Black Experience teacher, Mrs. Jill Gibson, and the Black Student Union members Que Thomas, Cymoria Collins, and Kynnedi Cooper.

Celebrating diversity at EHS begins with sharing and understanding the different cultural perspectives of our Tiger community. Tune in today to learn about the Black Experience course offered here at EHS and about our very own Black Student Union.

Happy Healthy New Year, Tigers! We are back and ready to chat with our favorite nurse, Megan Slack. Nurse Slack is here to share all of the healthy tips to help us cope with all of the things winter may bring – from the cold weather to the sniffly noses to recharging our state of mind when the days are dark and dreary. Have no fear, D7, our head of security is up in the house! Drop in to hear ALL about Mr. Hubbard’s past experiences before joining the D7 family. Not only does he bring police and investigative expertise into the halls of our schools, but he brings positivity and love as well. While trying to keep our students safe, he also believes in the importance in kindness and working together to keep each other safe.

We’ve been turkin’ hard this semester, but it’s almost Thanksgiving break! While EHS students gobbled up turkey and mashed potatoes at lunch today, we asked about all things Thanksgiving. From friends and family to macaroni and mashed potatoes, our Tigers are thankful for it all!

Enjoy the MaGiC and theatrics of Pippin from the Edwardsville High School Theater program! Our super star students nail it again with the story of Pippin, a young prince searching for the real meaning and purpose in life. With guidance and influence, Pippin must discover and choose his own “extraordinary” ending!

Join us to learn ALL about the fabulous Mrs. Cara Lane. Not only is she an invaluable asset to the English Department, but her love for learning is infectious to both colleagues and students. She is constantly seeking ways to share her passion for literature and history, both in her classroom and community. Between juggling Film Society, Debate Club, and Ethics Bowl, she also organizes and coaches students for our daily morning announcements and coordinates group trips for students – and this is in addition to enlightening the minds of her students all day, every day.

Tiger Spotlight - S1, E27 - THE SENIOR EDITION

This is it, folks. The last and final episode of the year.... and we have dedicated it to yours truly - our class of 2023.

It has been quite the ride. In fact, this year is the only "normal" year of high school these fine folks have had [no thanks to Covid shutting down school and enforcing hybrid, shortened day schedules along with lengthy breaks after holiday seasons]. Yet here they are on the final day of high school, riding into EHS like a flock of Hawaiian-inspired triathletes on bikes, scooters, skates, and whatever contraption they could find without a motor.

This class truly made the most of this year. From Homecoming to Spongebob to Mr. EHS to Prom - they SHOWED UP. They modeled to the rest of EHS what it looks like to be the leaders, the top dogs, the example.

To our senior class: we wish you the very best as you go out into the world to make a difference doing what you are meant to do. We will miss you.

Go get 'em, Tigers.

Diversity and inclusion is a large part of our culture at Edwardsville High School and we LOVE embracing and learning about cultures and lifestyles that differ from our own. While each student is crafted with a combination of unique characteristics to make up one’s identity - TOGETHER - we are Edwardsville Tigers.

One brand spankin’ new club formed just this year is the Asian Culture Club. This club was formed to create a positive space for Asian students to invite all EHS students to celebrate and learn about the Asian culture. Ivy explores the staff members behind all things ROAR-related with the MTSS crew. MTSS, referring to Multi-Tiered System of Supports, promotes an initiative encouraging student success, both behaviorally and academically. MTSS staff create ROAR magic all year long within the halls of EHS – from ROAR expectations [Respect, Opportunity, Attitude, and Responsibility] to ROAR tickets promoting positive behaviors to coordinating tiered levels of individualized support for students to welcoming students back to school with the marching band, cheerleaders, and our Tiger mascot. Their focus is 100% OUR STUDENTS and we couldn’t appreciate them any more for all they do.

Hanna Matarelli was on-site during our hustling, bustling lunches to encourage EHS tigers to ROAR about their favorite, inspirational teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, student support staff, and beyond. This week is ROAR week, encouraging Respect, Opportunity, Attitude, and Responsibility here at Edwardsville High School. Today, students took the opportunity to show some love to those who have impacted them the most.

We know our EHS Tigers are especially talented in the classrooms of EHS, but it is extra impressive when they create a side hustle in their spare time outside of EHS. Nate’s vision is to create a fashion line that is both high quality – yet affordable - for young adults. Once this entrepreneur gains success, you will be glad you heard it here first. From Tiger Spotlight to the runway, Nate is destined to come through drippin’.

Have no fear, the student teachers are HERE! From SIUE Cougar to EHS Tiger, these teachers-in-training are in full blown beast mode as they learn the craft of teaching here in our EHS classrooms this year. Teachers literally DO IT ALL over the course of a school day – from lesson planning to teaching curriculum to classroom management to assessments and grading to communicating with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, administration to sponsoring and coaching extracurriculars – it is enough to make one’s head spin. However, these apples-of-our-eyes do it all, while also finishing their college degrees and planning for their future careers. We are SO lucky to have Ms. Ring, Ms. Landrith, and Ms. Pugh and cannot wait to see them SHINE as future educators for their lucky students to come.

CVAC is a co-op program based out of Collinsville High School providing vocational training to junior and senior students. Car trouble? They can do it. Building a home? They can do it. Welding? They can do it. These kids are spending part of their day acquiring real life skills to do real life jobs post high school and they are KILLING IT. Give a hand for these hands-on students and all of their craft and expertise as they contribute to making all of the things in the world function each and every day.

Recently made “famous” with a media publication about her troubled past, passion for preaching at her church in Washington Park, IL, and advocating for peace on the streets of the neighborhoods where she, herself, grew up – Mrs. April keeps it real with us. This interview is a GAME-CHANGER.
