With out complaining too much, I’m sick of seeing marketing experts teach CONTENT PILLARS INCORRECTLY 🙄. Like, if you are managing clients and doing 1:1 coaching on this you would like it to be the correct info huh?

I think this is WHY there is so much confusion around it. Because one ‘EXPERT’ is saying one thing and another something else.

SOO, let me break it down for you.
Because man… if I see one more social media manager on INSTAGRAM say that your CONTENT PILLARS are educational, entertaining, inspirational + promotional - I’ll tear my hair out 🥵

I’m sorry but I’m over it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Making it look pretty doesn’t make the information CORRECT 🙃 (currently shaking my head as I’m writing this).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
CONTENT PILLARS are unique to YOUR PAGE.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They are NOT general topics, they are what support your entire strategy and are needed for you to then address what I call VALUE, CONNECTION + PROMOTIONAL content.

A few months ago I was chatting on my stories about Navy's sleep and how there wasn't much of it and I was really struggling to work. I was so exhausted and couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Georgie slid into my DMs and gave me some really helpful advice. She was saying the further I went away from birth it would get easier and harder at the same time.

Easier for me to find myself and be able to work and function, I would find more of my groove with Navy but at the same time she is changing so quickly.

The key word for me throughout all of this has been surrender and bringing myself back to how while some things may be hard, they aren't permanent.


A few months on and we are getting some more sleep! And I can function a little more.


I'm excited for Georgie to share some of her story and advice with you too.

AI and business, how to use it to support you not replace you!

AI is blowing UP 💥; it’s kind of scary what it can do, don’t you think? I can literary hear my parents thinking the same thing about the invention of the internet 🤭
Many people fear it will replace jobs, even I’ve started to question what’s real anymore… but what if instead of fearing it we embraced it to be better and more effective? Could this even be possible?
When Photoshop first came out it was feared by photographers + artists - but it became a tool used by industry experts to improve the quality of their work! BUT NEVER TO REPLACE THEM 👌🏼
So how can it assist you? The first thing is knowing what to say or ask. Knowing what to ask can be tricky, so let’s break it down!
Remember, the key to effective communication is clarity, YES, even with AI 😅
FOR EXAMPLE
👉🏾Instead of asking
“Suggest some creative marketing strategies for my online store.”
✅ Ask this instead
“I run an online store that sells handmade, eco-friendly skincare products. Our target audience is primarily women aged 18-35 who are interested in sustainable living. We’ve seen success with Instagram and Pinterest, but our email marketing seems to be falling flat. Can you suggest some creative marketing strategies to improve our email engagement and also attract more customers through social media?”
In this case, you’ve provided context about your business, identified your target audience, and explained where you’re currently seeing success and where you’re facing challenges.
This allows the AI to generate more relevant and effective advice.
When you’re clear and detailed, AI can be an invaluable tool for your business growth. Have you been using it?
PLEASE NOTE that it should never be used to replace your work. Nothing will compare to your own genius and creativity.
The data on there is also only until Sep 2021, so keep this in mind when chatting away.

Instagram Threads, everything you need to know. How to use it, what to post, will it last?

So unless you’ve been living under a rock for two weeks you probably would have heard about Instagram’s new Twitter-inspired app, Threads… 


Now that I’ve been playing around with it for a while, here are my thoughts.

 

Let’s start with what it is for those who might not know. It’s pretty much exactly the same as Twitter. If there’s anything Instagram is known for, it’s copying other apps. 

 

Stories = Snapchat

IGTV = YouTube

Reels = TikTok 

And now Threads = Twitter

 

There’s a lot of chatter about how people think it will fade as quickly as Clubhouse or BeReal, but here’s the thing, Instagram takes the best parts of the apps that are successful.

 

Recently the vibe on Twitter has changed (since Elon bought it). There’s been lots of change and people aren’t happy about it. 

 

And I think that’s the reason so many people - 30 million people in the first 48 hours - took to Threads. The platform promotes kindness and community. It has really stripped everything back and is almost like OG Instagram in a way. 

 

If you’re mean or a bully in any way you can have your account deactivated. I have actually already seen this happen to people. It’s really different to what we have seen on almost every other platform. 

 

The key features

👉🏼 You can post up to 500 characters (longer than the 280 on Twitter)

👉🏼 You can add links to your posts 

👉🏼 Hashtags don’t work (still to come)

👉🏼 You can’t flick between different Threads accounts like you can on Instagram 

👉🏼 It is connected to your Instagram account, so you’re not creating a new account

👉🏼 You can have a public or private account 

👉🏼 You can post videos up to 5 minutes long, gifs, and photos

Everyone is always trying to HACK the Instagram algorithm so in today’s episode let me break it down for you! So many biz owners are wanting to do the bare min and get the max results, they are not posting consistently, content quality is low, copying ideas, not speaking to anyone, not encouraging engagement or conversations, not using video or hashtags... the list goes on! 

Knowing this info can be a huge advantage to you, if you work in social media management or if you’re a business using Instagram, trying to get your content in front of more people! 

Mosseri said in one of his reels that: The more likely you are to take an action, and the more heavily we weigh that action, the higher up you’ll see the post," says Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram

Meaning what Instagram shows you in the feed is dependent on: the time spent on a post, whether are you likely to like it, whether are you likely to comment, save or tap on their profile.

I just had a very interesting sales call and before I got on it I felt like something was off… not sure what it was but I felt like it was going to be a scam or something.

ANDDD it was. This lovely person (and they were super nice) has a business where you purchase followers, likes, and comments and a bot will follow and unfollow other accounts.

They told me that I would be the perfect content creator and an affiliate for this and my account has a lot of potential for grow.. UMM FAKE GROWTH?

I stopped him in his tracks to tell them that this goes against my ethics and business values. AND it’s what I teach my clients NOT TO DO.

They then said but if I had 20K more followers, maybe more people would want to work with me. AGIN WHAT PEOPLE? They wont be there. Because they are FAKE!

I said sorry (not sorry) but I am not the right fit for this.

I told them I have clients with less than a 1000 followers that have incredibly successful businesses and I don’t believe in vanity metrics.

I get it, people want followers and growth. Part of the ego death I had on NYE (fun times btw, having an ego at midnight on new year 😂) was about letting go numbers like these and not letting them define you or your success.

Your business and your success is not defined by the number of followers you have.

These things take time.

Anyway, rant over!

Moral = don’t but followers.
