Can we just not with the demonization of pain and injury? A rant on the medicalization of runners

Can we just not with the demonization of pain and injury? A rant on the medicalization of runners

In this episode, Dr. Stephanie Mundt and Dr. Ellie Somers moan and groan about the demonization of common (and often treatable with physical therapy) medical pathology in runners. This demonization and fear-based approach often sending runners down a path of further invasive treatments and medicalization while simultaneously pulling them from their sport.

We discuss some of the issues we see in people we work with, and offer up no solutions really, except to say that we think runners are amazing. Generally, this podcast is a long soap box for both of us and we hope you'll hop on the ride and give it a listen.

If you want to understand why we get so frustrated with how runners are managed in healthcare, this is a decent listen. If you're looking for validation of your ridiculous healthcare experience, this is a decent listen.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to us rant. If you're in need of some good run coaching or physical therapy, give us a shout:

Season 4 Episode 1: FIRST GUEST!!! Dr. Danielle Kroot on Pregnancy and Post-Partum Running

Season 4 Episode 1: FIRST GUEST!!! Dr. Danielle Kroot on Pregnancy and Post-Partum Running

Oh hey! We're back with our very first guest of this podcast, Dr. Danielle Kroot. She comes to us today to chat about running during and after pregnancy.

Dr.Danielle Kroot is a physical therapist, running and triathlon coach, and owner of Starting Line. Starting Line is a hybrid facility for endurance athletes offering physical therapy, performance coaching, and group indoor treadmill and strength classes. Danielle's passion for working with runners came from her own love for the sport and the challenges and injuries she faced herself as a new runner. Her treatment approach is rooted in educating and empowering her patients so they can tackle their goals with confidence. As a new Mama herself, she realized the gap in resources for women returning to run postpartum and wanted to be able to help new Mamas on their journey.  (feel free to add another sentence or take anything away if necessary
